Academy Monks are support units of the Ascalon Army. Since none of the soldiers are spell casters, Monks from the Academy are used as support healers and protectors. For defense they also wield a sword and a shield. The are found in a lot of areas, usually standing next to Resurrection Shrines.

The name seems to refer to the Ascalon Academy (the training academy of the Ascalon Army), rather than the Academy of the Arcane Arts.
