The damage transfered to the caster is untyped skill damage. Thus this damage doesn't react with abilities that require a certain damage type, it ignores paragon's armor and doesn't trigger any abilities that react to attacks. This skill will not trigger Essence Bond or Life Bond on the caster, but does trigger Balthazar's Spirit, Healing Seed, Shielding Hands and similar abilities. This skill splits the damage after all modifiers have been calculated in, which means if the target has a spell like Protective Spirit on them and a total of 55 health, they will take 3 damage and the caster will take 2 damage from each hit.
