Update 2 - Thursday February 1, 2007[ | ]

  • Reverted several unintended skill balance changes that were part of the previous update but were not included in the update notes.

Update - Thursday February 1, 2007[ | ]

Broken Tower and Courtyard[ | ]

The winning team is no longer decided by who is holding the altar when time runs out. The new win condition is based on points earned by killing members of the opposing teams.

  • Every time a team kills an opposing player, that team is awarded one point.
  • Killing a Ghostly Hero awards double points.
  • The first kill of a match awards double points.
  • Players may still capture the altar, but this is now done through the use of capture points similar to the control points used in Alliance Battles. The team with the most players in range of the capture point begins capturing the altar. The Ghostly Hero counts as 4 players.
  • The team holding the altar receives a 10% damage boost.
  • When the timer hits zero, the team with the most points wins. In cases of a tie, the team that scored the last kill wins the match. If no teams have scored a kill, there is no winner.
  • Teams resurrect every minute on these maps.
  • Added resurrection shrines to the Broken Tower map.
  • Players no longer incur a death penalty (DP) on these maps.
  • Increased the time limit to 7 minutes.

Hall of Heroes[ | ]

  • Increased the time limit to 8 minutes.
  • Players no longer incur a death penalty (DP) on this map.
  • Updated the Hall of Heroes map so that it is more open.
  • The contents of the reward chest have been updated, and its location has been moved. All players now need to click on it to receive a reward for winning a battle in the Hall of Heroes. To give players time to do this, the wait time between matches has been increased.
  • When players enter the Hall of Heroes, the win condition and match objectives are randomly decided from four options. These four options are described below.

Kill Count[ | ]

  • Every time a team kills an opposing player, that team is awarded one point.
  • Killing a Ghostly Hero awards double points.
  • The first kill of a match awards double points.
  • Players may still capture the altar, but this is now done through the use of capture points similar to the control points used in Alliance Battles. The team with the most players in range of the capture point begins capturing the altar. The Ghostly Hero counts as 4 players.
  • The team holding the altar receives a 10% damage boost and gains a morale boost for every 2 minutes they hold that altar.
  • Teams resurrect at their shrine every minute, along with their Ghostly Hero. The team holding the altar resurrects upon the altar every minute, along with their Ghostly Hero.
  • When time runs out, the team with the most points wins. In cases of a tie, the team that scored the last kill wins the match. If no teams have scored a kill, the defender wins.

Murder Ball[ | ]

  • Three relics are spawned, one for each team, at equal distances from the altar.
  • Players bring their relic to the central altar to score a point.
  • A relic returns to its start point if an opposing team member picks it up.
  • Teams resurrect at their shrine every minute.
  • When time runs out, the team with the most points wins. In cases of a tie, the tying team that last captured a relic is awarded the win. If no relics have been captured, the defending team wins.

Capture Points[ | ]

  • There are 4 capture points on the map: one on the altar and one at each team's resurrection shrine.
  • Teams begin capturing a point when they have more players within range than any other team. The Ghostly Hero counts as 4 players.
  • Every 30 seconds, teams are awarded one point for each capture point they are holding.
  • Teams resurrect at their shrine every minute, along with their Ghostly Hero.
  • When time runs out, the team with the most points wins. In cases of a tie, the tying team that last scored a kill wins the match. If no kills have been scored, the defending team wins.

King of the Hill[ | ]

  • Bring your Ghostly Hero to the central altar. Once he is in range of the central altar, he will attempt to claim it. When he has done so, he moves to the center to hold it.
  • Every 30 seconds, the team holding the altar receives one point.
  • When time runs out, the team with the most points wins. In cases of a tie, the team to have held the altar last wins.
  • Claim Resource: casting time reduced to 2 seconds, Energy cost reduced to 0.

GuildWiki notes[ | ]

  • The conditional healing for Word of Healing was already 15..100 before this update. The update actually changed the unconditional healing to 15..100.
  • The description of "Shields Up!" was not updated to reflect the added armor applying to all projectiles.
  • Steady Stance's energy gain was actually lowered to 1..7.
  • Divert Hexes had its activation time increased to two seconds. This was fixed in a later update.
  • Unnatural Signet now instantly recharges if it targets any summoned creature instead of only recharging instantly if targets a spirit.
  • Illusion of Pain had its recharge time reduced to 5 seconds.
  • Essence Bond has become broken again. It does not provide energy to the caster if the ally enchanted with it is taking zero damage from attacks.
  • Destructive was Glaive initially had no armor penetration. A later update changed it. It now provides a flat -6 AL adjustment.
  • Gaze from Beyond was changed to 10..30 health, not 10..30% health.
  • Lamentation now inflicts damage if a spirit or corpse is within earshot the target, rather than damaging the target if they are within earshot of a spirit or in the area of a corpse as the update notes imply.
  • Leader's Comfort had its activation time increased to three seconds. This was fixed in a later update.
  • Mighty Throw and Unblockable Throw both had their activation times lowered to two seconds. This was fixed in a later update.
  • Stunning Strike's damage was lowered to 5..30 and the daze duration was lowered to 4..10.
  • Avatar of Melandru was changed from +200 health to +150 health.
  • A glitch that allowed parties to skip through certain gates (for example in The Foundry of Failed Creations) has been fixed.
  • The skill Summoning Shadows used by Mallyx the Unyielding was modified to be energy based (instead of adrenaline) in an attempt to force parties to fight Mallyx within the citadel.
  • Protector title track now has the description: You will earn the title Protector of <continent> once you complete <max level> of all <x> missions of the continent of <continent>, and the title Guardian of <continent> once you complete them again in hard mode. (This change seems to affect only title tracks which are still not at the Protector title). Nothing is yet known of what exactly is "hard mode".
  • Although most evasion-related skill effects have been converted to block-related skill effects, there are some exceptions. If an attack skill could not be blocked and had a conditional effect which triggered on evasion, the conditional effect now triggers on blocking and the "cannot be blocked" has been removed. If an attack skill could not be evaded and had a conditional effect which triggered on blocking, the conditional effect has been retained and the "cannot be evaded" effect has been removed rather than be converted to a "cannot be blocked" effect.
  • Captain Denloh was added to the Sunspear Great Hall in this update or an earlier update.
  • The Frog in Kamadan is once again wearing a Wicked Hat, however this change may have happened in an earlier update.

Update - Wednesday February 14, 2007[ | ]

To usher in the New Year’s Festival, Emperor Kisu requested a cinquain be written by the royal poet laureate, Wi Liam. Messengers have been dispatched to every corner of the realm to read the official New Year’s poem to the populace:

Canthan New Year
Festival has begun.
Quests, races, fortunes, and a feast
Await.

Other[ | ]

GuildWiki notes[ | ]

  • The change to Mallyx's skill, Summoning Shadows made it activate instantly, like Call to the Torment and take effect 3 seconds later.
  • Changed the layout of the Skills and Attributes panel so that the attribute ranks are immediately to the left of the attribute names. Previously, the names were on the left and the ranks were to the far right.
  • Sunspear Title Track is no longer maxed at Spearmarshal: there is a new level at 30,000 points, Legendary Spearmarshal.
  • Added a new title track: "Sweet Tooth Title Track". You will get one or more points by consuming various sugary foods or drinks.
  • Kamadan, Jewel of Istan, Lion's Arch and Shing Jea Monastery have been redecorated to celebrate the Canthan New Year. Storage agents and other NPCs have been moved around.
  • Added 5 Imperial Chefs, Imperial Chef Jiong, Imperial Chef Yan, Imperial Chef Chen, Imperial Chef Reun, and Imperial Chef Tian. Each require various Trophies. Currently they do not offer the rewards for these items.
  • A Festival hat maker was added to Shing Jea Monastery. There is now a Festival Hat Maker for each campaign.
  • The light-colored shadows around each slot in the character inventory and Vault Box windows are now brighter.
  • Inventory icons for some items now change quality depending on your graphics settings.
  • The pop-up skill bar preview window that was added to the template save/load/manage screens obstructs the names of the selected template and those near it.
  • This update may have added the Charr Bag. This may have been in an earlier update.
  • The same display and sort options that have been added to the Skills and Attributes panel have also been added to skill trainers. This affects also the skill select panel with the signet of capture.
  • "I'm Very Important" is now available as the 3rd rank of Kind Of A Big Deal.
  • This update has introduced a strange bug which sometimes restricts party size to 7 instead of 8 with no obvious reason, indication or explanation.
  • Removed the easily accessible Demonic Chest in the Stygian Veil region of the Domain of Anguish. This update modified all chest spawns in the game. This was made to address chest running in the Domain of Anguish. Prior to this update, Chests associated with spawns that had yet to appear (like those that trigger by accepting a quest) were accessible before the groups that they are associated with appear. This allowed for easy access to a few chests in the Stygian Veil and Ravenheart Gloom in the Domain of Anguish, two areas that feature a lot of pop-up groups tied to quests. This update tied the chest appearance to the group itself appearing.

Update - Friday February 16, 2007[ | ]

GuildWiki notes[ | ]

  • Introduced a bug (or recently introduced) where after receiving a guest invite into a guild, you will receive another guest invite each time you switch characters.
  • Introduced a bug (or recently introduced) where players will be listed as offline in the guild menu while being online.
  • There are also some other problems with the guild window: Sometimes the guild window keeps completely empty or shows a list of guild invitations (although you are still in your guild).
  • The henchman version of Aurora has had her skillset changed from a Barrage Ranger to a Beastmaster. The boss version's skills have not changed.
  • The chest bug was that chests associated with groups that spawn after certain groups (as opposed to groups that are already spawned) were not appearing.

Update 2 - Monday February 19, 2007[ | ]

Finished!
New year is here.
The festival is done.
Fortune and good luck was bestowed
