This page is a style and formatting guideline on GuildWiki. It has general acceptance among editors and is considered a standard to which articles should adhere. However, it is not set in stone and should be treated with common sense and the occasional exception. Shortcut: GW:SIC

This article provides guidelines on quoting in-game dialogs, descriptions, etc.

Syntax

Where quotes are taken from in-game in order to document a skill, quest, mission, etc., the quote should be copied verbatim into GuildWiki. This includes any incorrect or unusual spelling, phrasing, punctuation, etc. The goal of the wiki is to document the game as experienced. When typos or errors are copied from the game, the user should indicate this by inserting the template {{sic}}.

The use of sic indicates that the preceding text was copied exactly as written, including any errors that may have existed in the original source text.

Text which is green or red in-game is bolded in quotes.

In general, an ellipsis is rendered in-game as three periods without a leading or trailing space.

Example of use

The following taken from a quest reward dialogue is an example of the proper use of the {{sic}} tag.
