Interwiki link request

I'd like to request interwiki link with the PvXwki ( using the PvX: prefix, so that PvX:Main Page would like to PvXwiki's main page. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 21:04, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I've added that to the Interwiki map but that's not currently in use on this wiki. I'll try to get this enabled here. Is it going to be a problem if w:whatever links point to the Central Wikia instead of to Wikipedia? Angela 12:44, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Nothing on GWiki links to Wikia, so that would be a problem unless all existing W:something links were converted as part of this change. Also it would take a bit of getting used to since W:X linkage is second nature here now; may want to make a Site Notice or whatever Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 02:24, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
From what PanSola has written, thought the idea was we could use something like PvX:Minion Master in an article and it would go to an article named "Minion Master" on the PvX wiki, or have I mis-read something here? --Wolfie Wolfie sig.jpg (talk|contribs) 02:33, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
You're right. That's what it will do if it's set up. I was just wondering if applying the rest of Wikia's interwiki map here would cause problems since it includes w: to mean Wikia, whereas this wiki seems to use w: to mean Wikipedia. Angela 03:34, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
A simple bot to convert all W: to Wikipedia: or something like that would eliminate that problem, I think...Other than that minor snag, interwiki-map ability would certainly be handy for PvX linking. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 04:12, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
If there are still any w: links left, they will need to be changed to Wikipedia: instead of w: but it looks like that was more common anyway. Angela 04:52, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Any prominent W: links will probably get fixed as soon as people realize they changed, so I think you're clear to go ahead and add it now. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 04:57, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
If we can't get a bot to do a search-n-replace, is there a way to search for em? (ie, generate a list and gather a few people to get them all corrected sooner rather than later). --Wolfie Wolfie sig.jpg (talk|contribs) 05:04, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
JSharp is creating a bot to fix the interwikis listed here, at least the ones in articles. Angela 07:26, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Bad Coding?

I'm new to the wiki and have been trying to update the monster pictures. i was instructed by some helpful comunity members to replace the old images instead of adding a whole new one to the database. While this has worked for me usually, I've been having problems repalacing the old Modniir pictures. I have entered the replace file with updated version link and uploaded the appropriate picture from my computer. However, instead of uploading the image as I desired, it instead distorted the old image to the dimentions of my image and failed to load my new image. How can I go about fixing this without uploading entirely new files to the database?--Lord Twitchiopolis 01:59, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

You may need to clear your browser cache. Refresh the page, it might be showing up incorrectly but actually be correct. --Shadowcrest 02:00, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

thanks. It showed up correctly approx 15min after I edited it....must have alot in cache V_V'-- 02:02, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Odd Ads

Recently I saw an ad advertising It was an annoying flashy ad saying "IS YOUR LOVE CHEATING ON YOU?," while flashing between hot pink and black. There is also an ad for, advertising a "free" Guild Wars Nightfall. Naturally, this seems suspect. (Signed later than should have been by Theta Republic 23:42, 14 December 2007 (UTC) )

I have just encountered an ad while viewing "Sunspears in Cantha." It was an ad for "" It said it had 10 billion gold in stock. Gee, makes me want to know what kind of builds they use. :P Theta Republic 06:48, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
I also saw the "Is your love cheating on you?" ad, I saw it, I think when I was on my talk page unlogged, I came here to report it, logged in, and on that that screen, I saw it again. Thoughtful Thoughtful Sig.png 12:31, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Annoying Ad

Lately I have been seeing a particularly annoying advertisement popping up which I feel is both "Inappropriate" (flashing animation w/rainbow colors) and somewhat smutty as well. Its banner reads "Calculate the exact name of your lover!" or something to that effect, while two static cutouts "kiss" in the background. I can't get the target link for the ad, since it's made in Flash and thus a "Properties" isn't obtainable through a simple right-mouse click, and this sort of ad almost always leads to sites which could compromise your Internet security...not to mention the ad already hints at what sorts of top-quality content could be found there. It may not be explicitly pornographic, but I think this toes the line of acceptable/tasteful content. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 05:50, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I need the URL it points to to be able to block it. You might be able to get that by viewing the html source of the page if it isn't right-clickable. Angela 12:41, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Obscene annoying ad

Have you checked the link to FuryWiki? It is both obscene and annoying, and has nothing to do with game information. Legend Victoria

It's not exactly an ad, but it seems the admins over there are doing absolutely nothing. I'll go revert it now. Cress Arvein 02:06, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Actually, after looking at the wiki itself, the link is worthless. I'll try to get it removed. Cress Arvein 02:11, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Questionable "sponsors" ad

On the sidebar, under "sponsors" noted an advert claiming to offer "Download Guild Wars", this caught my interest as ArenaNet would be the only source for downloading the GW client. The link has the claim "Stop paying for new games! One time fee to download for life", my concern is that this may either be a scam (pay them a fee just to to download the GW client), or an illegal software site (though, without a valid product key, don't think you'd get far). The link was [1]. --Wolfie Wolfie sig.jpg (talk|contribs) 05:22, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for reporting it. I'll have that one blocked. Angela 12:46, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

farming bot ads

One of the Ebay farming bot ads is sported right at the bottom of this page, as I'm typing this... It advertises 4 (random?) GW-related things offered on Ebay, 2 of which were farming bots. Type "guild wars" into an Ebay search and you will get a million hits, half of which will be bots. Nothing from Ebay should ever make it onto a wiki page, since Ebay is swarming with illegal bots and gold traders. In one of the reviews I saw a person complaining that they got permanently banned for using this particular bot, on a 2 year-old fully developed account. And I thought to myself "How naive did you have to be to buy a bot and not expect this to happen?" Too bad, he lost 2 years worth of play and over $100 worth of software for being greedy. Here is the current ad's url: 110192351486.jpg If possible, can you block anything that says "ebay" anywhere in the link? Thanks. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 03:15, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Here's another, with different content, same ad template: 330187609953.jpg. Please block anything with "ebay" in the string, since they seem to be randomly generated. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 03:18, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Does the community as a whole really want the whole of ebay blocked? It seems better as a first step to just block the problem ads themselves... what do you think? -- Sannse 12:29, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
The ads are randomly generated (the string of 12 numbers in the end), which means you will block one out of 10^12 permutations, which is wasted effort. And like I said, Ebays sells more bots than any other GW-related merchandise, so yes, block them ALL, or don't bother. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 03:06, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
I thought that "farm", "farming", "run", "running", "gold", etc. were automatic red flags which caused ads to be blocked...we don't have to block all of Ebay unless their permutation program is advanced enough to do stuff like "Sell B0T for GW" (with a zero). Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 04:56, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
And this is coming from a person who got offended by a "Love Button" ad. :P (No offense, just find it funny ^_^). I thought that you block the address of the ad, which just says "blablablaebayblablasomenumbers" and has none of those flag words in it. Or does the blocking software analyze the ad's content? That would be too advanced for a free website. All in all, I will repeat myself again: Ebay has hundreds of, dare I stress, illegal bots up for sale as soon as you type "guild wars" in the search. It should not be anywhere near a wiki site that supposedly promotes honest gaming. It's not even about honesty as much as it is about the fact that any player will get banned for using one, thus, a wiki should not provide a direct link to such things. Just try the search yourself and you will see what I'm talking about. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 05:31, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
I remember reading that Wikia blocks any ad that contains "gold" in some form or other. I don't think it's possible through image scanning or anything, but for any sort of text or code it would be easily checked...meh. Also, I'm not sure that we should be responsible for players' actions. It's obvious that our ads aren't things that we support or endorse. If someone was dumb enough to use an illegal bot advertised through EBay, that is their stupid decision and they deserve to be banned for it. If they claimed "well I saw an ad on Gwiki!" then that is a lame excuse...
Still, considering how strongly we police the gold ads, I guess you have a point. It is to some extent our responsibility to promote positive GW stuff. We certainly don't allow pages for illegal third-party software or mods (though we have some that are...questionably used...) Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 05:38, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Also, I just noticed that the links I provided only lead you to the thumbnail image that was displayed next to the sale items list, so the ad is not a single banner, it's a combo of several "frames" or whatever you want to call them. I would have given you all the links had I noticed this earlier. My bad. My argument is still correct, though. Wiki should not provide a link to a site that is swarming with illegal bots. Don't know how else to convince you. If someone wants to shop Ebay, then can go there directly at their own discretion. Everyone knows about it anyway. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 05:42, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, we block ads with the word "gold" (although the people writing the ads do all they can to bypass such filters of course!). I've mailed the guy that looks after our ads, and asked for a block on ebay or, if he thinks it is worth trying, a block on "bots", "farm" and "farming". I'll let you know what I hear back -- Sannse 12:01, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 20:00, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Another bad ad

I find the ad's language to be coarse, if implicit. "The Love Button - Push Me Hard!" just doesn't seem to convey the sort of attitude we want here. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 05:42, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Again here, I have to ask if this is considered offensive by the majority here? We are happy to block anything that offends the majority of wiki users, or violates the rules of the game, but obviously we can't account for every taste, or we would never have ads at all. (wait! is that the plan!? ;) -- Sannse 12:32, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
To be honest I'm of the mind that ALL ads catering to sexually deprived/depraved preteens should be blocked anyways. Companies like that don't deserve to live... Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 04:58, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Actually, this ad had nothing to do with sex or explicit images. All it did was trick you into thinking it will give you your "true love's" name, while gathering a bunch of your information for sale. They made the ad seem like it leads to explicit content just so people would click it in the first place. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 05:37, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
It's still harmful, then. Information sale over the internets is a dangerous business to put yourself into, especially unknowingly. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 05:39, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
True, but wiki is not responsible for police-ing people who can't recognize a phish, whether in E-mail or on a site. That should be common sense to any internet user. However, a guild wars wiki IS responsible for guild wars related illegal software ads, or directly explicit content, etc. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 05:46, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
That's a thin line to walk between what's obvious and what's not obvious, isn't it? What exactly are we responsible for policing - just Guild Wars related stuff and what we deem as "obviously malicious/inappropriate"? That seems like a double standard... Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 05:50, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

All I'm trying to say is that this one was a drop in the ocean. These things are all over the internet. I have nothing against blocking them, but it just seems like wasted effort. On the side note: thanks for all your contributions, Entropy. I seem them all over both GW wikis, and you are a valuable user. Not many people honestly give a d@mn about this :P, except for when they want to see a pretty picture or find a trick on how to beat a mission. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 05:59, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I blame society for acclimating us to seeing shitsauce adds on all sorts of otherwise clean and legitimate websites. Point taken.
Uh, I don't contribute to GWW or PvXWiki at all. That must be someone else. (Damn, they stole my username!) Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 06:04, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. I just find things like this sort of "benign" anymore. The worst it could do is spam your E-mail inbox or wake you up at 8am with a sale call if you're silly enough to give a phone #. Explicit content is always offensive, though. As well as it really sux to get banned permanently.
Hehe, maybe I'm just so used to seeing your name that it seems like it's everywhere. :P Your sig stands out. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 06:14, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Awesomesauce. The ad now has a new permutation. "Is Your Love Cheating On You?" with two silhouettes of...hmm...sluts in the background. And it blinks, too. Wonderful. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 03:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks all.. these have all been reported. It's annoying, because they are all from Google, who were specifically working with us to block gold ads. Possibly the problem is that they don't actually have text to filter out, they are images. But either way, we don't want them of course! I've asked our guy who deals with the ads about this. He'll get in touch with our Google representative for more help. Keep those links coming, and screenshots are welcome too -- Sannse 10:25, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Isn't there a possibility to disable image ads in the google ads service? That would solve the problem if images can't be filtered through word filters. -- Gem (gem / talk) 12:59, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
There's a new graphical ad, this time a WoW power leveling service, It seems like most graphical ads are illegal WoW/GW related ones so disabling them would be a good idea. -- Gem (gem / talk) 22:02, 17 December 2007 (UTC) Someone really needs to get this thing outta here,it's bugging me,but im too stupid too 22:01, 17 December 2007 (UTC) I'm seeing it too is now blocked, and the other two reported here... Maybe it's because its for an MMORPG, whose players are possible customers for them. Fortunately, most of the players that use this wiki are above buying gold from those sites. --Curse You 05:41, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Cool, had a chat with some of the Wikia support guys on their IRC server (hope no-one minds me trying to escalate this), for the technically inclined as far as I can deduce, the problem apparently is that the cache/proxy server (Squid) had a configuration change that caused external Internet IPs to appear as an internal address to the wiki server(s). This in turn confused the heck out of the software as probably was seeing different users on the same IP address (just on different ports), which likely explains why when User talk: is updated, multiple users get notified of a new message. Anyway, as noted already, it being fixed. --Wolfie Wolfie sig.jpg (talk|contribs) 04:51, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Since new ppl are gonna keep trying to post on the talk page anyways, I have protected it from anons (it's not gonna make the problem worse, and might make it better). Please discuss the bug and/or the protection here. Since the talk page doesn't correspond to any actual user's IP, protecting that talk page doesn't affect anyone's rights. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 09:18, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Seems the "converting to internal IP address" issue still exists (see Special:Contributions/ over 24 hours later, any further updates? --Wolfie Wolfie sig.jpg (talk|contribs) 07:52, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Again, same IP still contributing. Do we know anything else as of yet? Isk8.pngIsk8 18:28, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

So in other words, issue is still present and escalating. Is that 10.x.x.x IP causing annon users to be redirected to ALL pages it edits? Edit: Even when pages aren't being edited by that IP, it still gives annon users the new message. It seems to re-occur every 20-30 seconds. Edit again: Seems to instead be based on viewing pages on the wiki. It doesn't occur when I refresh say the main page or RC's, but when I view random pages. Some do it, and some don't. I haven't personally seen any 'New messages' boxes apart from those caused on my own talk page. -- Gem (gem / talk) 23:27, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
I too am not getting the issues. Wonder if it only affects those that have logged-in after the proxy/cache server mis-configuration occurred (and anon contributors of course). Ie, I use the "remember me" option and so have not had to re-login to date since this started. Be interesting to find out if all those registered users that are having the problem have logged-in at some point since this all began. --Wolfie Wolfie sig.jpg (talk|contribs) 00:19, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
I tried logging out and then in again earlier but I still don't see the message. -- Gem (gem / talk) 00:37, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, then it appears to be randomly effecting some but not all, probably due to Wikia having a server-farm of proxies and only some were changed before the error was realised. Wonder if browser cookies are used to remember "last known IP address used", and so only once those cookies expire (or are cleared by the user), though would think that could be open to abuse, so would hope not. Be nice if Wikia would use this page, being Wikia staff noticeboard and all, to post a formal status report. *hint hint* :) --Wolfie Wolfie sig.jpg (talk|contribs) 00:47, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

It's an old MediaWiki issue: categorization via templates/transclusions don't immediately update when you alter the transcluded thing. Updating the transcluded categories is a passive task filed into the job queue so that the wiki doesn't just hang to the death when you edit a template that is used by a few hundred articles. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 17:53, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

NO, I want to see <item>s! NOTHING else!!

Previously this site had pictures of weapons or items but the characters were inappropriate. Some of them had no clothes on, carrying the items. I am sure some user thought that was <insert cliched reference to unconcionable graphic portrayal under the pretense of whim or liberality> but it was just wrong. I hope that the pictures, ANY that feature or should feature things other than the wielding characters show the items and IF they show the characters, that they are fully and appropriately dressed. Users come to the site wanting information about the game and such things are insulting to decent people. Please update the pictures appropriately among your other updates. The preceding unsigned comment was added by (contribs) .

If you take a pic without a wielder, you have no idea how big it is and such, and that can make a big diffrence. Also, armor can disrupt the view of an item, by clipping through, covering it, all that stuff. --- VipermagiSig.JPG-- (s)talkpage 19:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
In terms of images showing the details of a particular item skin, the reason that images are typically taken with the characters clothing not showing, is the distraction effect. Showing the skin of an item on a neutral backing focuses all attention on the item, and not the characters armor. And the characters still have clothes on. Nothing in Guild Wars is "naked". There should be no reason to be bothered by the characters "under garments". Also please remember to sign your comments. (Edit conflict... grr Viper) --Aggro Isk8.png Sk8 19:59, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
If you are really disturbed by the images, you can use the official Guild Wars Wiki since they are trying to get renders from ANet to replace all images. Render = the item without any background or character, taken with an external tool by an ANet staff member. -- Gem (gem / talk) 20:40, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Questionable Ad

It's an ad for a particular GW guild's website encouraging people to join them. Since GuildWiki does not endorse or support one guild over any others, it out to be blocked so we don't appear partial to them. Felix Omni Signature.png 06:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Imho people should know that we have no particular influence over what makes it through Google ads - we don't endorse or condone any of them. We can only request blocking for those which are obviously wrong or deceptive, like GW gold. But yeah, I see your point. I would stop short of blocking anything with "guild" in it, because things like GuildCafe are obviously okay, but...a single guild may be deceptive. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 12:39, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Is hitting me repeatedly just trying to edit Aidan because of the external link on the bottom. Shouldn't it check for external links ADDED, not ones just plain in the text? --Gimmethegepgun 21:32, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

That's unfortunately how the extension works. anyways, I've added babyhold to MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. Any other admins can also edit the whitelist. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 01:34, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, why aren't we using the same extension as Wikipedia does? They have anons and newly-registered users at least have to pass a visual test if they ADD a new link, and seeing how pretty much every single page there HAS an external, but you don't need to do the test every time, I don't see what the problem is --Gimmethegepgun 17:27, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
There are two different checks. Unregistered anons are asked to pass a test whenever they add an external. Everyone are blocked from edits containing URLs that are blacklisted. If you go to Wikipedia and login and try adding the following link (I just tried on my own user page), you'll find you'll get the same block:
So, this proves we ARE using the same extension Wikipedia uses. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 17:53, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Removing the Build: namespace from Special:Wantedpages

Is it possible? As the page is useless after the Builds wipe RT 12:16, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

The Wanted Pages is automatically generated from red links. If you want the Build namespace removed from that list, see "What links here" to the red link and manually remove it from every page that links to it, only then it will be gone from Wanted Pages. Accualy, I can't be bothered, I think the special page is going to be useless then RT | Talk 19:02, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
The namespace can be removed from the Wantedpages server-side, but as far as I know, it's quite risky and would need updating each time there is a significant update to the software. The GWW tried to get a similar thing done with the Guild namespace, but we eventually got it out by changing a few templates. -- Brains12 \ Talk 19:11, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
would said templates work for here as well, possibly?
Aside from trying something like that, I think it wouldn't be too hard to remove all the red links. At least, not very hard with multiple people working on it, and a bit of time. (whoever said stuff like that had to be finished all in one shot?) I've got to back up my computer today, but I may hop on my laptop later and go to town on Build: links. --GEO-logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 21:42, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Templates wouldn't work here (as far as I know) - it worked on GWW because all the red links came from the alliance nav templates, so certain people found a way to get rid of red links if the page wasn't created. Our Wantedpages works again :D
You could probably take out the links with a bot to save time and trouble, not to mention RC and watchlist spam. -- Brains12 \ Talk 22:04, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Problem is, I don't think anyone has a working bot; they'd need to make one and get entropy to make it a bot. --Shadowcrest 22:06, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Not all of the links are actually to the Build: namespace either, as I just found out. Back before the Build: namespace, it was all in mainspace; when builds got moved, they'd leave redirects. So you would need a bot that looks for profession abbreviations... --GEO-logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 22:08, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I'd be happy to give bot-status for a project like this, as it is of such monotonous and yet massive scale that no one is ever gonna be bothered to do it. I would code it myself if C++ could be made into MediaWiki code, but oh well. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 01:28, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

From my understanding: There's a difference bwteen Gravewit's Monobook, and Wikia's Monobok. Only the Wikia monobook has been modified to work with the extension. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 17:31, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
That is correct. Unfortunately, we will not be able to add it to the GuildWiki version of Monobook. If and when you guys get to the point where you are comfortable setting Monaco as the default theme for anonymous users, then it would make sense to turn in it back on. --KyleH (talk) 18:13, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

game updates

hey, i clicked on the updates and read the news. but, when i decided to post my own thoughts on the 'edit' page, i noticed something strange. the 'edit' page's content and the 'discussion' pages content, are not matching. there are more posts on the edit page, and when i switch back to discussion, they are not there. is anybody else experiencing this? or is it my computer? 02:53, 18 April 2008 (UTC) Gabe

Maby someone added a message between the opening of the page and opening of the edit page? In that case you wouldn't see the message on the discussion page since itwasn't there when you loaded it, and then after you hit the link to the edit page the edit window shows the message since it has been added at that point. If you then hit the back button in the browser to move to the talk page in normal mode, the browser will show the version that it loaded previously, not the up to date version. You need to hit f5 to refresh the page to see updated content in that case. -- Gem (gem / talk) 10:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I've had this happen on talk pages before. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 15:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I bet you were just confused by the modular nature of the game updates article. Each individual update is its own article, and they are all "included" onto the overall Game updates page. Each update has its own talk page, as does the overall page. You were probably looking at Talk:Game updates to start with, then after you clicked on an "edit" link and went back to "discussion" you were looking at Talk:Game_updates/20080417. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 20:27, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

deleted pages

is it a new thing that deleted pages are getting their entire history removed from recent changes? I know that it gets removed from a person's list of contributions but removing it from RC makes it annoying to go back and figure out who made it after it was deleted if I wanted to ban them or something. Also... didn't I read somewhere about an option to protect non-existing pages to keep them from being created? —JediRogue 17:31, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

They've always disappeared from RC. -- Gem (gem / talk) 17:42, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

The easiest way to prevent pages from being created is to use cascading protection. Create a page with links to page names that you want protected from creation, then protect that page with cascading protection (it's a check box on the protect page screen). Doing so will protect all pages linked from that page. --KyleH (talk) 19:11, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

With the Wikia Migration, Entropy's Bcrat powers have decreased a tad, and she can't desysop anyone. ← Moved from User talk:PanSola

A lot of the time I go onto GuildWiki (but not all the time) my Firebug error tracker repeatedly picks up this error:

urchinTracker is not defined
    var wgCatId;

Also sometimes I'm given another urchinTracker error with something along the lines of this (different green lines denote different error messages):

urchinTracker is not defined
    if (wgUserName == null) ...
    if (wgIsArticle) ...
    if (skin == null) ...

It also sometimes catches a div tag in the green part. Also, Firebug will not work at the moment, and the first bug on the huge list (which has been stacking up each time I change pages) is:

[Exception... "'Component does not have requested interface' when calling method: [nsIInterfaceRequestor::getInterface]" nsresult: "0x80004002 (NS_NOINTERFACE)" location: "<unknown>" data: no]

Any clue? --Gimmethegepgun 21:28, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

I checked, the Urchintracker thing is still there in Monaco as well as monobook --Gimmethegepgun 02:04, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Some pages seem to be showing up in here more than once, and the extra copies say they have different numbers of links to them. But they both link to the same whatlinkshere page, with the same links. For example, R/N Touch Ranger shows up at least twice, the first saying it has 24 links, the second saying it has 21. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 01:36, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Those ones that are for builds also seem to be borked, because if you click the Whatlinkshere link you'll see that none of them are even linked. Probably needs a system cache purge --Gimmethegepgun 02:04, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
More than likely it's due to transclusions, and the fact that the wiki engine deals with refreshing link counts (among other things) only when an article gets edited. When a source article is created with a link to a certain article, say "Article A", that adds 1 to Article A's link count. When another article is created that transcludes the first article, then Article A's link count is again increased by 1. However, there's still only 1 actual link to Article A, and it exists on the transcluded article. When the transcluded article gets edited to change the link, Article A's link count is decreased by 1. The count that the transcluding article added for Article A will not be removed until that article gets edited again. The system cache definitely needs to be purged if we've got incorrect link counts for articles that were deleted a year ago. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 04:08, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
I just relayed that information to our tech team so they can take a look at it. Thanks! --KyleH (talk) 17:32, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Spam filter - false positives

There are a number of pages being blocked by the spam filter for no apparent reason. The common thread seems to be pagenames that end with a trailing slash. These are the pages that I have seen blocked:

  • [User:Midnight08/Builds/Project Save the Builds/]
  • [User:Koalita/Builds/Team/DoA 1/]
  • [User:Koalita/Builds/Team/DoA 2/]
  • [User:Koalita/Builds/Team/DoA Balanced/]
  • [User:NightSilva/builds/pve/]
  • [User:Immora/buildarchive/]

The talk pages for these articles also get blocked by the spam filter. Bot ishmael 20:30, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Agree RandomTime 19:56, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
The solution, of course, is to change the page names. I got the the bottom 4 moved, then I was throttled. I'm hoping this doesn't create too many double redirects. mendel 23:39, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I would argue that those pages should be moved, they have no good reason to have a slash at the end of their names. Additionally, lots of spam bots like to create random page with names ending with slash. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 23:41, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Taken care of - Mendel had already moved them all, and I deleted the redirects. Only two of them had anything linking to them (from within the same user's space), which I fixed. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 00:38, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually you never know what external forum posts etc. may be linking to articles that we move - maybe it'd be best to keep the redirects. It doesn't hurt, does it? mendel 00:51, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

It's possible this is related to the issue with the deletion log I reported above. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 03:45, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

That is a common occurrence on most similar Specialpages, I've noticed. See User:Dr ishmael/todo - Special:Longpages, Special:Shortpages, Special:Uncategorizedimages, Special:Uncategorizedtemplates, Special:Wantedpages, and Special:Lonelypages are all ones I remember that do that. Special:Unusedimages was an exception, for some reason. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 04:00, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Last time I asked about this one, I was told "it's a feature, not a bug" ;) The idea is that users fix the problems in the first 1000 or so, and others move up the list to be fixed. If it's a big problem, I may be able to find out if there is a setting that can be adjusted, but in general we'll go with the devs reply. -- sannse (talk) 11:44, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
For ones like Wantedpages, Longpages, or Shortpages, I can understand that, since they are sorted by number of links or page length, and in those cases this "feature" makes sense - a redlink that appears 200 times needs to be fixed much more than one that only appears 2 times. The Uncategorized and Unused lists, though, don't have a set ordering scheme (they seem to be mostly alphabetical or by creation date, but not entirely), so in those cases I'd have to call this a "bug". —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 16:07, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
The reasoning is, that all those pages are provided to help people fix the issues on them. So showing 1000 is plenty for people to work on, selecting each and adding a category, or linking the image... and once those are done, the next 1000 will be visible -- sannse (talk) 21:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
One reason for this being useful is that you might have a list of pages from some other source (say, all pages that start with "Game update") and want to find out which of these are also uncategorized = find which pages are on both lists (which AWB can do for you, I believe). Having only a partial list available isn't going to cut it. --mendel 01:16, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

It seems that enough people didn't like this for the software to be changed by the MediwAiki developers :) I'm told that a future version will change this - you will be able to scroll though all the listed articles. -- sannse (talk) 17:48, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Also, just fyi, it shows those entries for any offset number of 10000 or higher. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 17:26, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Considering the "correct" behavior is probably "ERROR! Invalid offset! Go delete more pages!", I doubt this is high on the priority list to fix... -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 18:07, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually, that's not what the correct behavior should be. Perhaps using an offset of one decillion wasn't the best example. Look at the deletion log with an offset of 10000 and with an offset of 10500. They show the exact same entries. But go to the bottom of the page and look at the date of the last entry - July 9th, 2007. The builds wipe was in May of 2007, so there should be entries in the log after that, but you can click "next 500" forever and it will never get to them, it'll just keep showing the same 500. Those entries are still in the log - if you search for a specific user you can see them, and you can probably see them if you search for a specific page, but you can't see them without specifying a user or an article. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 21:17, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 21:53, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Heya ... just a quick follow-up on this. This behavior is intentional in MediaWiki 1.12 for performance reasons. The MediaWiki developers have changed that behavior in 1.13, so it should be fixed in the next MediaWiki upgrade. --KyleH (talk) 22:00, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Bot posts triggering new messages notice

We have found that if a bot posts on a user's talk page, it does not seem to trigger the new messages notice. I have found no information indicating that this is normal behavior. The only special feature of a bot is that its edits do not show up in recent changes by default because of their flag. We would like to use bots to leave important notices on user's talk pages and if the bot doesn't trigger the new messages notice, they won't know about it. Is this a bug or some setting that can be changed? We are discussing it primarily in relation to GuildWiki:Bot tasks/License reminder but I bet we will have other reasons to perform similar tasks in the future. —JediRogue 18:28, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Heya! The reason that the bot is not triggering notification messages is because it is marking the changes as minor changes. By default, users to not receive notification of bot edits marked as minor edits. Try leaving the messages as non-minor edits and see if notification works properly. You can find more details here --KyleH (talk) 18:41, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Not something I would've guessed, but that's exactly what it was. I got a notification for my bot editing my talk page as a non-minor edit. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 18:50, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, Kyle. Good to know. Could have sworn I read that exact page yesterday when I was looking for my answer though... must have missed it. I can easily change it so the bot's edits are not minor. —JediRogue 18:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
No problem. Trudging through the MediaWiki documentation is an arduous task ... I just got lucky and found that page pretty quickly. It wouldn't surprise me if you found a page almost exactly like that one somewhere else without that tidbit of information. ;) --KyleH (talk) 21:55, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Spam filter stuff

I don't know if this is discussed somewhere else, but I never encountered anything blocking me cause of spam filtering but what do I do about it? lol. I couldn't edit the following page: User:Vespa Lynch. I say that sysops shouldn't have spam filter issues... </3 —JediRogue 23:57, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

It would be best if wikia could just pop up a warning that allowed to user to [Cancel this link] [Continue to destination website] - else people are just going to start circumventing the block, and I already found two different ways to do so without really tring hard. ;-) Just rewrite the link whenever it is saved, e.g. to . --mendel 10:40, 7 June 2008 (UTC)#
Tinyurl has a preview feature - I agree with wikia doing it - perhaps a user preferences opt out... RandomTime 10:44, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Since I obviously worded my idea badly, I clarify: I want wikia to pop up a warning (similar to the tinyurl warning) for all URLs it classifies as spam, instead of blocking them. Although this probably defeats the purpose of preventing spammers posting in the first place. :-( --mendel 11:12, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
I'll pass the feedback along to our product guys. I suspect that we don't do that because that really doesn't prevent the spam from appearing ... spammers and their bots interpret the post as a success and keep chugging along. By the way, you can use MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist to allow the posting of URLs that would otherwise be blacklisted. --KyleH (talk) 06:04, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, so you have the same suspicions I do. ;-) Well, we can probably make another template for users to request an admin to unblock a URL (much like page deletes or bans are requested). We'll see how that works out. --mendel 13:10, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
In case you want to customize it to send users to a certain page to request that the URL be whitelisted, the text for the message that the user receives when a page is blocked by the spam filter is stored at MediaWiki:spamprotectiontitle (for the page title), MediaWiki:spamprotectiontext (for the first line), and MediaWiki:spamprotectionmatch (for the second line). --KyleH (talk) 16:44, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

edit count

Sometime recently the format of Special:Editcount was changed to be a new table. Out of curiousity, I wonder when that occurred. Out of concern, the font is very small and hard to read. Should we fix that within our own css or is that a wikia wide thing that should be adjusted? —JediRogue 01:40, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

It looks like this went in to production on Tuesday, June 3rd. I'll pass along the comments regarding the font size of the text in the table, but for the time being, it's probably best that you just fix it yourself in your MediaWiki:common.css. Adding ...
.ecmaintable {
  font-size: 10pt !important;
... should do the trick. --KyleH (talk) 06:00, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Looks like that'll work, thanks! —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 21:23, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Another editcount issue: the "All wikis" column of mine currently says 0 for everything. It was working yesterday, and it's working fine for other users. Might be related to me having just tagged a couple hundred screenshots :P ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 22:04, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Speaking of Editcount, why does it refer to our wiki as "gwguild", and how could we change that?Entrea SumataeEntrea [Talk] 23:48, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
It refers to that because that is the name of our database. If that were to be changed, you'd have to change the name in all of the configuration files where it occurs, and if one is missed, stuff breaks. Aah editing toolbar

Is anyone else seeing all the editing toolbar buttons twice? ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 04:56, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes, and I am also getting a weird effect where the Monaco-specific (at least, I thought it was Monaco-specific) "link suggest" was somehow trying to work on Monobook and dynamically updating a div below the edit box. Turning on "Do not show link suggest" in my editing preferences fixed the latter, but I can't figure out a way to fix the double-toolbar problem. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 05:06, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Both issues appear to be related to the fix that was implemented for the IE script errors. Link Suggest isn't actually a Monaco-only feature, it was just never implemented in GuildWiki's special version of Monobook. I'll ping the tech team about the double-toolbar issue. --KyleH (talk) 16:52, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I know this is exactly the opposite of what Wikia wants us to say, but I'm going to say it anyway - the simplest way to deal with the broken ads right now is to not deal with them at all. Simply follow these two easy steps:
  1. Install Firefox
  2. Install Ad-Block Plus (Firefox add-on)

Ad bug

Image:Wizardboy Ad Bug.jpg. It appears that a banner ad is appearing where the google ads normally would. Most of the ad gets hidden behind the page body. You can see the html used to generate it in the firebug window in the picture, if that helps. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 01:56, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

I also occasionally get an error saying that "this._getCurrentBrowser() is null". It usually doesn;t show up immediately - I only seem to have it show when I've been looking at the same page for a while. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 23:23, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Second ad in page body on long page

The Championship Trophy page has a google ad at the top and another one down at the Wintersday Tournament Trophy, which totally messes up the layout there (I have a screenshot, but I'm not logged in atm). I thought there was supposed to be only one ad per page in the body? --mendel @ 17:04, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

On longer pages, there is a second ad at the bottom of the page (and occasionally one below the fold on the sidebar). The second ad can be either a box ad or a banner. If it's a box ad, it appears after the last section header. If it is a banner, it will appear below the content. The collision detection should, however, prevent page-breakage ... on that page, it should have created a banner instead of a box. I'll pass that info along to the tech team. --KyleH (talk) 17:13, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Ah yes, right now it's a banner, not the box, but where that was is Winterfest Championship Trophy </span></h2><!-- adserver=L FAST_BOTTOM 590 --><div id="adSpace1"></div>. Not nice at all. Does that mean we have to add a dummy section header to each page now? The banner ad adds its own header to the page, which is not nice at all either. -- 17:17, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw the box too ... that shouldn't be happening because of the "This trophy is no longer on display." box which conflicts with it. I'll check to see why that is happening. We added the dummy section header based on community feedback--to make it clear that the advertisement is separate from the rest of the content. Is that not preferable? That can be styled using CSS if you want it to appear differently (or not at all). --KyleH (talk) 17:28, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Users with the sysop or rollback flag appear to be exempt from the rate limit, so if you have someone who needs to move a large number of pages, it may be a good idea to grant them the rollback flag. --KyleH (talk) 22:20, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Log in form bug

Monaco IE6 login bug.jpg

In IE6, the login form does not display for me. I've tried changing my IE security settings every which way, but nothing seems to work. It's probably still a problem on my end, since no one else has reported this yet, but I'd think the login form should display no matter what. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 17:16, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Upgrading to IE7 fixed it. Wikia should still look at fixing the login page to work correctly in IE6. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 21:59, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

"Keep me logged in on this computer"

Doesn't work quite right. This has been the case since a while before the skin change. I use primarily IE7, but it also happens in Firefox. guildwars.wikia is set as my homepage, and whenever I first open a page, it opens Main and shows me as not logged in. I used to have this problem long before the skin upgrade. Home page set to main page, and I would always appear as not logged in when opening firefox, until I tried to go to another page, then yes, magically logged in. Semi-related: if I open GuildWiki in certain time interval after the last time I logged out (some hours), it will appear that I am logged in, even if I'm not. Then if I log in, it says I am not logged in, but I really am. IE6 (I think). Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 06:30, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Here's how it works: Wikia tells your browser (IE/FF/whatever) to remember your username and your (encrypted) password. They're called cookies and they expire at a moment wikia tells your browser. Right now that date is set to one month in the future, so every month you have to log in by typing in your username and password, becouse your cookie was destroyed by your browser. For me, this is working just the way it should (use ff1). -{[ PUL ]}- 09:13, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
No, the way it is supposed to work is for the cookie expiration to get extended when you log in before the month is up. Anyway, wikia has set some cookies for and some for, and especially the __utm? cookies appear in both, so it may depend on which of these cookies get set first and by whom. I usually open the wiki through the search bar, so I assume that makes the cookies be set in the correct order. The order may vary as the skin loads content from wikia and guildwiki, and some of that is even loaded by Javascript, so processor load may be a factor here. Untangling the cookies (i.e. using non-conflicting names) might solve the issue. If I was Derik, I'd add "Wikia suck" and point to their technicians being fine with HTML errors. --◄mendel► 09:32, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

In a nice twist, as I look at GuildWiki with IE this morning, Marvin, who uses IE (I use firefox), is logged in. Yesterday I'd been using IE to test how the page looks to logged-out users, and I haven't logged Marvin in after that. I say we wait at least a few hours to make sure the fix is permanent and stable (i.e. Wikia doesn't have to back out the change because they discover that it introduced an even more serious bug). But I also am experiencing no trouble with either timeout or session cookies - I was inactive for ~2 hours before this, didn't have to re-login when I refreshed RC; closed FF, restarted, didn't have to re-login. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 08:15, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

The Deep (mission)#Aspect of Depletion (Room 4) is correct - you only use the specific header that you want to link to, no matter what level of header it is. You tried writing the link using both the first and second level headers, which is unnecessary. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 15:52, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

What is the exact wikitext you are trying to save into the page? It could be that after it subst:s everything, the final product has 0 difference from the previous version and it gets treated as a null edit. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 19:20, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

new section talk page stuff

When added a new section, you put in the name of the new section in a separate feield. that field is called "Subject/headline" The words subject/headline are above and centered over that box and between them are links to edit summery and stuff. this doesn't seem like the right place for this label. It should be in front of or at least directly above and left justified over that box. Otherwise, its very difficult for a new user to know what that box is for. —JediRogue 04:59, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

This appears to only screw up for logged in users. When I change my skin to monaco, it's as jedi describes, but if I then log out it's fine, with the words "Subject/Headline:" in front of the box instead of above it. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 06:13, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, when I look at the "new section page" using &useskin=monaco , everything looks peachy. Can't be the Monaco customization that's screwing it up somehow, can it?
Anyway, on another note, can we add our s&f template to "More help" on Monaco's "editing tips" widget somehow? --◄mendel► 08:18, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm not able to replicate this as a logged-in user. Can someone screenshot it? As for the editing tips: right now, those are not editable on a per-wiki basis. Sorry about that all, we are trying out an extension that fixes the problem of the URL showing as the redirected page rather than the target page. It seems to be working well on the wikis it's been tried on, but isn't ready for general release yet. Not least because, as you saw, the redirect text doesn't show on Monobook. It's been turned back off now, so all should be back as it was. -- sannse (talk) 17:15, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Is there a page or forum where you announce maintenance work like that? --◄mendel► 17:44, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm in the process of setting one up now :) We have a way to send talk page messages out to everyone, but that's generally a bit over the top for most changes. We use the Wikia mailing list or Central Forums at times, but again not ideal - most people don't see them. We try to visit key wikis to leave info on community pages, but that's not easy to do as we grow. And all in all there are many places, none of them good.
So my idea is to add a newsletter that's automatically updated on all wikis at Wikia, probably at Project:Wikia Newsletter. It will look something like this (that's just a first draft though) and will hopefully mean a lot better communication over all wikis. I'm getting some first feedback on the idea and how I've laid it out, then I'll trial it on a few wikis. Then... we'll see how it goes! -- sannse (talk) 19:36, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Suggestion: Put it in a template on central wikia that we can transclude to our wiki(s) to a place where we see fit (e.g. at the top of this page). That we, we always have an updated status on what's ongoing right here (unless interwiki transclusion is cached too much?). --◄mendel► 00:07, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

HTML errors

The page Template:Valid_XHTML_1.0 was valid when I wrote it. It no longer is.

Even on Monobook I get 27 errors, many of those on lines that have on them. Could you pass a hint to your web designers that URLencoding URLs is a good thing?

Monaco is, of course, beyond the pale with more than 100 errors. --◄mendel► 17:37, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Holy shit, my userpage got 104 errors from the ad code. That's insane. [edit] Oh, guess I should check it with the correct skin - only 27 on Monobook, but still... —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 17:56, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
I have filed a ticket on this issue. --KyleH (talk) 19:33, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
The issue has been raised on Wikia Central's watercooler as well, so I'm surprised there hasn't been a ticket on it yet. But then again I was disappointed when sannse posted that the techies didn't think that was a problem (it might be the cause of the Opera glitches, we don't know). So it's good to know the issue won't get lost, thank you. Now if I could reproduce the glitch that sometimes causes pages to come up raw (I always notice because it starts madly opening empty tabs on FF2 - I must configure it to treat text/x-wiki differently...)... --◄mendel► 23:04, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah ... I may have just overlooked the original ticket, but I created a new one anyway. Sannse's response, however, is probably accurate. I have documented the bug so it will be added to the queue to be fixed, but other fixes and enhancements will probably remain higher priority than this, so it's really hard to tell when (or even if) the engineering team will have the resources to devote to fixing the HTML. --KyleH (talk) 23:17, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Hey ... just a quick update: the members of the tech team are resolving many of these HTML errors at the same time they are making other fixes and enhancements, so you should see the number of errors decline slowly. We're down to 42 errors now from a high of over 100. There's still a long way to go, but it's progress. --KyleH (talk) 22:08, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

The Database dump is missing information

The database dump at is incomplete. Several articles lack article text that is in the online database. This hurts us because I have been running scripts to find pages that are eligible for some maintenance tasks, and of course the dump can't serve its intended function.

The database dump is limited to

<comment>minor reword for consistency across monsters</comment>
      <text xml:space="preserve"><div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From GuildWiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div></text>

The comment from my latest update is there, but the page text is completely absent.

The database dump for Image:Assassin_Deldrimor_Armor_F_dyed_back.jpg does not have these two lines. As you can see, the text tag, where these two lines should be, just has the wikia credits that wiki appends to all text tags. For many images, the article text is there.

    <title>Image:Assassin Deldrimor Armor F dyed back.jpg</title>
        <username>Dr ishmael</username>
      <text xml:space="preserve"><div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From GuildWiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div></text>
      <text xml:space="preserve">Pic of Ardenoth Oakenshield
screenshot<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From GuildWiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div></text>

See also GuildWiki_talk:Image_attribution_project/list. My first guess? The slave database server that the dump is made from is not synched properly. --◄mendel► 05:35, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I've asked JSharp to look into this. -- sannse (talk) 19:02, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
The latest current_pages.xml.gz of 21 August is still unusable because of the same problem. I believe it omits the text (just the text, revision info & comments are there) of every page that's been edited after July 23rd or thereabouts. This is really disappointing, as there are a few projects that could really use the updated page lists that I create by running simple programs on the dump - and for article groups that have 5000+ pages, like our bestiary, doing it online is just not feasible. --◄mendel► 00:40, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Unable to edit pages

I'm not sure what was changed, but the page editing function seems to no longer work. Obviously, this is a very bad thing for a wiki. Clicking either "Save page" or "Show preview" shows a completely blank page as the preview, no matter what my edit was. It did this yesterday, too, and I didn't try to make any edits in the few days preceding yesterday. I've tried rebooting the computer, as well as clearing my cache and restarting my browser. Neither seemed to have any effect. I normally use Opera 9.51. I had to switch to a different browser to make this edit, which is quite a nuisance.

On another note, after logging in, it would be nice if pop-up box to log in closed on its own. Instead, it just sits there covering part of the screen after I log in. I have to close the box on my own and then reload the page for it to show me as logged in. Quizzical 14:47, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Seems like Monaco just doesn't work with Opera?
In FF 2, I have none of those problems. The log-in box closes, Show Preview and Save changes works... That's really weird tbh. --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 15:08, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
It worked just fine with Opera until earlier this week. And yes, I'm having to use Firefox to make edits, which is a pain. Quizzical 17:49, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Update on login problems

Hi all, just an update on last week's login problems. It seems that the issue was with the cache, the way the server sends stored page to your browser to save on database effort. The problem was, it was sending pages that showed you as logged out - even though you were actually logged in. That's why there were some strange effects with edits showing as logged in when your browser didn't agree.

It took a while to work out why this was happening, but we think that should be cleared up now. I'm still seeing a problem that I have to log in when I come back to Wikia... but while I'm on the site it's stable.

There is still a problem with Opera, which is likely to be related but is harder to pin down. Sorry about this all you Opera users.

I'll let you know if I hear any more news from the technical team on this -- sannse (talk) 08:27, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

This is good news, thank you. --◄mendel► 09:22, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm making this edit from Opera 9.52, so something was fixed. Opera still doesn't work on Wikia Central, though. Quizzical 01:04, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah; we reverted the changes which caused the Opera problems. We are currently testing a new fix on WoWWiki and will probably be implementing it some time in the near future. --KyleH (talk) 19:11, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Question Regarding Widgets

Moved from GuildWiki_talk:Community_Portal.

Not sure if this is where I should be asking this, but I can't figure out any better place :P. Getting good use out of the widget tools that have been put in place, but there is a major annoyance regarding the watchlist widget. It doesn't show new watchlist pages as bolded like in your regular watchlist. This makes the tool pretty much useless. Is there any way that we would have for it to bold new entries in the widget sidebar? -- Isk8.png I~sk8 (T/C) 23:54, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that's one of the widgets that had potential, but the limitations makes it useless. I would consider moving this to teh Staff Noticeboard for the Wikia techs to deal with. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 23:43, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

For obvious reasons, I tried to delete a certain vandalism revision on Image:Rank 15.jpg, but it gave me this message when I tried:

There is no archived version of Rank 15.jpg with the specified attributes.

--Gimmethegepgun 17:23, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Only thing I can think of to fix it is to delete the file altogether after saving it to the hard drive, then re-upload it.--Marcopolo47 signature new.jpg (Talk) (Contr.) 18:00, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
If this happens again, can you leave the bad revision in place so our engineers can reproduce the problem and fix it? --KyleH (talk) 20:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Sure, sorry. I was thinking of a quick fix rather than long-term solutions. My bad.--Marcopolo47 signature new.jpg (Talk) (Contr.) 01:05, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
No problem. If it's an oh-my-god-my-eyes-are-bleeding type of image, go ahead and nuke it. What I was meaning to say is that even though it's not a huge issue, it's pretty difficult for us to identify and fix the underlying issue that caused it without being able to reproduce it ourselves. --KyleH (talk) 19:03, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Ditto, I'm not currently experiencing any slow responses from Wikia, but we know how quickly that can change. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 01:23, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
The changes that we made to speed up the site caused Opera to break, so we had to revert them. Overall, performance should still be fine, but you may (infrequently) notice some glitches. We're currently testing a new solution and will hopefully see it rolled out some time soon. --KyleH (talk) 20:52, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
The not-logged-in glitch is still happening, but only the first time visiting the main page, which isn't really a problem.Entrea SumataeEntrea [Talk] 03:15, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

All you have to do is purge the page (add ?action=purge to the end of the standard URL), and it should be able to create the thumbnail on the second try. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 02:29, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
How often does this seem to be happening? And does it usually fix itself without a purge, or does it always require a purge? --KyleH (talk) 19:15, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Not sure, mine was fixed about 5 minutes AFTER i purged, which seems to be too long for the purge to have taken effect.--Marcopolo47 signature new.jpg (Talk) (Contr.) 20:28, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

HTML errors: situation much improved

I saw the HTML error topic has been archived, so I checked the current situation. A lot of errors, especially those with the ad code, have been fixed, with the result that monaco is down to 20 errors (11 errors are that an id starts with a digit), and monobook validates with 0 errors again. Good job! Get to 0 on monaco, too! --◄mendel► 01:57, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

printing pages with Monaco = fail

I can't see a link to print a page on the Monaco sidebar, and even if there is one, it wouldn't work, because the wikia ad spotlight images appear in the upper left corner, obscuring the page. Here's a screenshot. --◄mendel► 10:16, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

However, in monobook there isn't this problem. Here's a screenshot RandomTime 10:23, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
The "printable version" link was removed because all modern browsers (IE 5+, Firefox, Opera 7+, etc.) automatically apply the print stylesheet whenever you print, making the extra link mostly redundant. I reported the spotlight bug and that should be fixed soon. Thanks! --KyleH (talk) 21:52, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Ok, the FF3 "regular" Monaco print preview of our main page shows me a white banner-sized box overlaying the table, and a wikia spotlight in the lower left corner of the page; for wiki pages that take more than two printed pages, the spotlight is still in the lower left corner, obscuring the text there. The print preview of the "printable" version doesn't have the white box, but now the spotlight is in the upper left corner and obscures the page title. --◄mendel► 22:16, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I've reported the spotlight issue. I'm not sure why that's happening on the main page though--the printable version and the version that shows up in the print preview should be approximately equal. I'll add that to the ticket. --KyleH (talk) 23:18, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
A fix for this should be coming shortly ... --KyleH (talk) 21:54, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Boxes, boxes, boxes...

← Moved from GuildWiki talk:Community Portal#Boxes, boxes, boxes...

So, from out of the blue, there's a box around the Categories and Recent Changes stuff, inscreasing their size by a bit more. I have set my prefs to show 75 changes on RC, and I see only 24 (one less than one/third). Sure, without the box it isn't 75, but there's quite some more. And it looks out of place on Monobook, imo, but I'm a conservatist so I generally dislike sudden changes which don't seem to improve anything.
The category box looks a bit weird now. It's a box, and inside is another, smaller box (what did you expect, a bigger one?), and in there are the categories. Why these sudden changes? Sure, people will get used to it. But what was wrong with it in the first place? --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 12:44, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

I think those are new "features" of MediaWiki 1.13. The double-box for categories doesn't make any sense whatsoever. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 13:43, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
This is the source for the category section from a random unique axe page, as you can see there are actually three divs enclosing the categories, two of which have the same id.

<div id="catlinks"><div id='catlinks' class='catlinks'><div id="mw-normal-catlinks"><a href="/wiki/Special:Categories" title="Special:Categories">Category</a>: <span dir='ltr'><a href="/wiki/Category:Unique_Axes" title="Category:Unique Axes">Unique Axes</a></span></div></div></div>

Removing just the outer div makes it display normally.
Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 14:56, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
(edit-conflict during content move)Look at the HTML source:
      <div id="catlinks"><div id='catlinks' class='catlinks'><div id="mw-normal-catlinks">
      <a href="/wiki/Special:Categories" title="Special:Categories">Categories</a>
Clearly, the duplicate ID shouldn't be happening. Override the CSS for that and put the box on the mw-normal-catlinks on the monobook.css. The error isn't happening on Monaco, and what with Wikia having announced that Monobook would not be supported any longer, getting help from them seems a long shot - well, it may actually be worth a try, because Monobook pages used to validate with 0 errors again last I looked, and this double ID is the single error now. --◄mendel► 14:53, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Internal Error?

This occured to me a little while ago, trying to respond on M.mendel's talk page. Can anyone explain what just exploded? --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 14:44, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

If you give the time & date when this occurred, it can help the operators determine where the php error listed at the top occurred. A computer program consists of little parts that use each other, and the part at the bottom (Main) uses the one above, and that uses the one above it, until 11 layers deep an error occurs. Knowing who was using what when the error occurs helps determine the nature of the problem. Next time somthing like this happens, copy and paste the whole diagnostic message (basically, everything in artcile space, but you can do a text copy & paste), note the server time (go by RC if you have to) and the page you were editing, and post it to central wikia's help forum or the freenode #wikia support chat. --◄mendel► 15:56, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Is it really needed to post every little one-time error on this page? It seems like we shouldn't waste time reporting little hiccups, but only put major/recurring issues on this page (but that's just me, maybe Wikia likes chronicling every time the internet bugs out for a couple seconds)Entrea SumataeEntrea [Talk] 22:03, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
That's why I suggested using irc (well suited to reporting small issues quickly) or the forum (helps determine how the big the issue is, i.e. if these little hiccups occur on many wikis, it is still major). --◄mendel► 22:06, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
If it looks like it's a widespread problem (eg. the entire site is inaccessible), then the fact that you're able to post again serves as a pretty good indication that the problem has been noticed and fixed. IRC is good in situations like that given that you can report them in real-time. There is also a Wikia channel on Skype that you can join if you're interested (it's much less active than IRC, but most of us live on Skype. So, I'm not saying that you should avoid posting about these hiccups (especially if you need to vent your frustrations), but unless it's a prolonged issue, or one that only happens intermittently, it's pretty safe to assume that we already know about it by the time you're able to post again. --KyleH (talk) 22:46, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

How un-wiki of them, leaving a self-destructing message like that. Why couldn't Wikia just have used a regular talkpage post like everybody else's welcome bot (you can use colored boxes on these)? The message should have self-destructed ... is your new message notification gone now? We're working on a more public way to notify users of upcoming changes. Right now we post to the wikia-l mailing list, add messages on the forum on central Wikia, and occasionally send a special talk page message (usually targeted at admins so that they can relay the message using normal channels because we often get a lot of confused responses when we send one to everyone). Right now we're also working on a newsletter which, when updated, would show up in your local recent changes. --KyleH (talk) 22:39, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
May I suggest something? Just make a big list for each wiki what page to add stuff to, and then add a comment to that page when you have news (for newsletters, you can just say "The new newsletter is out" and list the headlines). The technically most elegant way to manage this would be to use a MediaWiki:Newsletter page that redirects to the page in question, the default would be the mainpage talk (remember the mainpage may have been changed by the wiki), and we would be able to set it to this noticeboard, for example. --◄mendel► 23:05, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi everyone,

Earlier today we experienced a failure in our main file server, which caused some images to not display properly. While we were working to resolve that issue, we also temporarily disabled file uploads. All of those issues should now be resolved; however, it may take some time for our main file server to catch back up. Over the next few hours, images may take extra time to load, or you may need to refresh a page to see the images properly. We apologize for the inconvenience, but things should be back to normal shortly.

Thank you for your patience,

Image Upload - Internal Error

My apologies if this is just me doing something incorrectly, but I'm trying to update some of the missing pictures on the Ranger Elite Sunspear armor page. The first time I attempted to upload an image I got this error:

Internal error Could not rename file "/tmp/phpC2ze4M" to "public/9/91/Ranger_Elite_Sunspear_Armor_M_gray_head_side.jpg".

So I tried a second time and then got this error:

Internal error Could not rename file "public/9/91/Ranger_Elite_Sunspear_Armor_M_gray_head_side.jpg" to "public/archive/9/91/20080925200045!Ranger_Elite_Sunspear_Armor_M_gray_head_side.jpg".

Is this a user error (on my part) or a wiki error? (These errors were seen at about 3:00pm central on 9/25/08.) Shadowlance 20:31, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

It must have been a transient error. I tried again today (9/26/08) and the image uploaded without error. Shadowlance 12:46, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Dr Ishmael, it's been mention on the #wikia irc channel that they've been pushing new code, so I tried the test poll I had set up in my sandbox and it worked (it hadn't before). Kyle, could you pass a feature request to the dev team that the poll includes any anchor in the tag (such as #Polls.3F) when it reloads the page? Polls further down a talkpage are a pain because the extension currently doesn't. --◄mendel► 06:39, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

To add to the list of current problems, votes are also broken totally. I click on one of the circles to vote and nothing happens. Not even a progress bar to indicate that a request was sent. It's as if it was preemptively blocked. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 21:26, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I just got word that the new poll extension is ready, so I have enabled it out on GuildWiki. On some pages, you may need to purge the page (append "?action=purge" to the address) in order to get the poll to render correctly the first time. Give it a shot, and let me know if you notice any oddities (other than the extension doesn't truncate the percentages to a reasonable number of significant digits). Entropy (and anyone else using the Monobook and IE7 combo): polls will probably still be broken for you until we fix the javascript issues. --KyleH (talk) 22:22, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
When I submit my vote, it takes a little while (1-3 seconds generally) to take it along, but it now works. Using FF3 on Vista here. Cheers <3 --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 12:38, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Sue me. XP was more expensive to get on my new pc, and Vista works ever since SP 1. --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 18:13, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
I do find it annoying that XP is more expensive than Vista... THOSE BASTARDS!!! I'm still not switching unless they give away free RAM with the OS. "Virtual Memory too low." notice is equivalent to your PC throwing profanities at you. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 19:10, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Search Box

← Moved from Talk:Main Page/editcopy

The new search box is a stepback because the removal of the "Search GuildWiki" text is not guaranteed. It can occur that the text remains in the field while clicking on it forcing you to first mark the whole text and then deleting it before you can enter the search text. This error happens in mozilla-based browsers (the others not tested) and can possibly be fixed by using the "onmousedown" instead of the "onmouseup" event handler within the js-file. Even though the error appears very rarely a removal of the text would be a better option than the status quo, the fixing would be the best. 13:46, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

menu bug

the side menu has a strange bug on the submenus: for both news and support we have a link that says "edit this menu". HTML div tags appear around this and I'm pretty sure they don't belong there. I'm sure when this started however. —JediRogue 19:13, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

checking other browsers: that menu option doesn't show up at all in firefox or opera. I see it only in IE. 19:16, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I tested with IE7, it is not there for me as anon. Maybe because you are a sysop? --◄mendel► 19:46, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
The "edit this menu" item has always been around since the beginning of Monaco skin, however, recently it starts to treat html tags as pure text, causing my hack to float special stuff to the right to fail as described above. A long time ago I had suggested that those special menu items ("more..." and "edit this menu") to be given special classes so wiki admins can CSS-style them differently , unfortunately that does not seem to have been implemented yet )-: -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 22:31, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, those links only appear for sysops ... looks like PanSola fixed it when he nuked the changes he made to that link. --KyleH (talk) 23:25, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Kyle, can you put in a feature request to add a class for the "edit this menu" and "more..." links? That way we can CSS-style them to be on the right side since now the HTML hacks no longer work )-: -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 02:36, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
PanSola, if all you want to format is the <a> tag, then you can select based on the href= attribute. Would that be sufficient? --◄mendel► 03:53, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Ideally I'd want to format the DIV outside the anchor, since A is an in-line element. Also, selection based on href= would only work for the "edit this menu" link, and not the "more..." link, since the href for the more... item can be the same as a regular menu item. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 19:06, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
The original problem is fixed, but tweaking the skin for this is pretty low priority, so it may be a while before we are able to spend some time on it. --KyleH (talk) 19:07, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

not uploading .bmp files

"Permitted file types: png, gif, jpg, jpeg, ico, ogg, pdf, xcf, svg, mid, jl, odt, ods, odp, odg, odc, odf, odi, odm." on the ipload page suggests that there is a technical barrier to uploading other file types, but just now a user has uploaded .bmp images. Is there a way we can actually prevent that from happening? --◄mendel► 11:18, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

If it let it through then I guess not. All I know is that if you try to upload a differnent extention it will usually say it can't. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 18:44, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
This is very odd, because even on Special:Version it doesn't list bmp as an allowed extension, and I am getting the ".bmp" is not a permitted file type warning when I try uploading one, even with "Ignore any warnings" checked. That user should not have been able to upload them. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 19:49, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
I just tried and I don't understand how it happened either. You can't have a mismatching file extention; you can't upload a bitmap file. Hrm. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 20:00, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Is it one of the three upload pages that does (not) work? Does monaco have a java/javascript upload dialog? --◄mendel► 20:18, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
I tried on all three uploads, the normal, the mega, and the supersized. I don't know anything about Monaco though. Seeing as new users would start out with Monaco, it makes sense to check that first! Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 20:20, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
I think I've uploaded things with different file extensions before, but don't quote me on that. I can't upload .bmp images in monaco. --Shadowcrest 23:52, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Someone has uploaded Image:Start.exe, an executable file. That's potentially extremely dangerous if it's a malicious program, since anyone could open it. Felix Omni Signature.png 06:11, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
This is extremely disturbing. I want to know how people are getting around the filetype restriction. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 06:13, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
I cant go into specifics now, but I just wanted to let you know, both of these issues have been reported to the Wikia Staff, and we hope to have the problem fixed soon. --Uberfuzzy 06:30, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Good to know this is being worked on. I'm not stupid enough to click on one, but, you know, this is the internet, and shit happens. --Macros 22:34, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Problem with using the "Back" button of Opera

I'm having a quite annoying bug with the new skin: when i want to go back, i have to press the back button 4 times before i really go back. this is caused by the Ads at the bottom of each page: everytime i click back, one of the ads disappears, only when they're all gone the browser goes back to the last page.

This only happens in Opera, tested it with both Safari and IE and had no problems.

*update* ok, it's getting worse... now it ranges from 5 times up to 9 times!
also, the page sometimes keeps loading something, but i can live with a sandclock next to my mousepointer.
btw, sorry for not signing before, i'm new to editing TerminatorBS 22:13, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
The bug is gone, either you did it or the new update of Opera i just downloaded =D
i can now go back with only 1 click again. Thanks =) TerminatorBS 01:14, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Uploading OpenOffice 2.4 .odt file impossible

I want to upload an 2.4 text file (extension .odt), but I get this error: The file is corrupt or has an incorrect extension. Please check the file and upload again. The file is neither. I have uploaded files like this before. What gives? --◄mendel► 02:12, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

I haven't been able to reproduce this error myself (either here or on one of my test wikis). Is there any chance you can email me the file at Failed to parse (syntax error): {\displaystyle} ? --KyleH (talk) 20:07, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Signature edit conflicts

These days I often get an edit conflict with myself. The "old" version is my post with ~~~~ at the end, and the "new" version is my post with the signature on it (ie. after it changes the tildes into my signature, timestamp, etc.) It is amusing the first time or so, but now it's just annoying. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 20:22, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

This is the first time I've heard of such a problem, but I can make an educated guess as to why it might be happening. I'll get our engineers to look at it. --KyleH (talk) 20:09, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
I get edit conflicts with myself when I double click save. Is that the same? --Macros 21:16, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
I've had it a few times weeks ago.. It's sometimes because I double click save when i-net is being slower than a sluggish snail in a bag of salt mixed up with concrete, and other times just completely random. --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 16:44, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:
/*id=20081021152242*/ (SQL query hidden)
from within function "ExternalStorageUpdate::doUpdate". MySQL returned error "1062: Duplicate entry '26-165466' for key 1 (".

I got this error after undeleting a page. The undeletion succeeded, but I've never seen this before. Did I break something? Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 15:24, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

I got the same problem, and only the second line was different: " /*id=20081021162206*/ (SQL query hidden)" for me. I edited Talk:Unyielding Aura when it occured, edit did get through. --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 16:27, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
We had a bad code release yesterday morning, which I believe is responsible for both this problem and the javascript problem above. Both should be resolved now. Let me know if you notice anything strange. --KyleH (talk) 17:44, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
My IE7 still doesn't display the side and top navigation. Do I need to do anything funny to make it work again? Or should it fix itself automatically when it's supposedly "fixed" at the source? RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.jpg 18:13, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
I can get the bars to display sometimes. If they don't, refreshing repeatedly brings them up eventually, and then they stay there mostly. My personal .JS, though, seems to come and go as it pleases. :C Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 18:40, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
