Any comments/suggestions? Jennalee 05:08, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Needs to be updated, as some (most?) of the items with an X have a dye chart; Long Sword for example. I wish there was a faster way to check, though... Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 12:50, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
I know, nobody seemed to want to help while I was nurturing it in my userspace though so I'll see if this newly seeded project evolves in this more public space... I'm sure other people will have better ideas of how to organise this. Jennalee 13:22, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
I am very interested in dye charts for the items which I own, and also those with interesting effects like Chaos Axe. However, most of those are done, and once you get down to completing the whole just seems daunting. Not boring, mind you - just a long project. "If I had nothing else to do..." ...nah, if I had the dyes, I'd do what few things I have but don't know about everything else. In any case I think this should get a bit more support here than there, since all the projects are in GuildWiki: now. (or ought to be)
Viper had this great idea where ANet could enable free dye preview for all armor, using the basic colors only - the same as when you make a new character and you can pick the color of their starting armor. Clearly the code exists. But that would never happen. :\ Or it would need some catch like a 100((gold)) fee to use. I guess the problem is that most people just don't have the inventory space/money to get a full set of 33 dyes. (3 each color). Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 13:42, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
You need a bag full of dyes. I have that in my chest, 10 slots set aside for them. Haven't found black dye yet, though.
I can make a list of existing dye charts once we get a correct database dump again - in fact, with luck that happens tonight, we'll see. Wikia is supposedly working on it. I'm going to post here once I know. Now if all dye chart images had a category... --◄mendel► 16:49, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
That would speed up the work tremendously. :> Also, if all dye charts are properly named, then it ought to be easy to tag those, yes? Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 20:21, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, if they were properly tagged, it'd be easy to ... ah well, no matter. No need to go on a renaming spree, anyway. --◄mendel► 21:11, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, the idea wasn't to ask for a dye chart for everything, more of a checklist to see what could be added and maybe so there could be a bit less doubling over. Dye charts have been a relatively recent addition so yea, names are all over the place etc. and a category for them would be awesome to just write a script to write into the page, like how all the weapons were added to the page. Perhaps we could have a dye chart template like on GWW to get adding more with standard names easier; a renaming spree can wait for whenever this supposed future release of MediaWiki which allows easy image renaming comes forth. Looks good JL! Totally forgot to check up on this page. Anyway once the semester is finished I can get back to it. Keep up the good work. Khazad Guard 09:25, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I feel really bad because I offered you help by promising to provide some lists, but that's not been possible for me because the database dumps I was planning to extract the information from have been broken for a month now and don't have any text of pages that have been edited during that time. Sorry. --◄mendel► 15:03, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

technical help[]

I scrutinized all images that had "dye", "Dye", "col" or "Col" in the name and put all of the dye charts among them in Category:Dye charts so you can find them more easily - or I should say, Marvin is putting them in as I write this. The bot's gotta earn his keep.

Anyway, for the table: I split some rows with two skins into two rows to make the table easier to scan (visually). I suggest adding a column with the number of dyes in each chart (that allows you to distinguish somewhat between "old" and new charts) and a link (I added one for "Holy Rod") that allows easy inspection.

I am under the impression that I can help you most by getting the remaining item galleries done, preferably organized by skin - is that right?

Should the item info box be extended to take a link to the dye chart, and display a thumbnail of the chart at the bottom of the box? That would also allow me to provide you with automatic lists that show the current status of the project (no maybes, though). Or should the dye chart be part of the skin info? --◄mendel► 17:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Steal some charts, if you want them[]

Just a small note to say feel free to pilfer any of the dye charts I produce on GWWiki - I appreciate that you have a slightly different dye order preference but whatever :p--Chieftain Alex 23:42, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Hm, I prefer the dress up to use via dye changes. :-) 02:10, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
This project is about weapon dye charts, not armor. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 03:37, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
