The issue I have is that I don't understand the correlation between you being an admin and you working harder...having the power to ban, delete, and protect articles would help you not at all or only marginally (in the case of deletion), since as you say you mostly spend time building up information rather than patrolling RC or such. Sure, it's always convenient if you just happen to be around when a vandal is on; but that is equally true for any other given user, and many do more patrolling so they are therefore more suitable.

Is it because it's an honorary position or such; or some sort of obligation that you would feel? I'm not sure if being given the tools would suddenly inspire you to patrol and use them. Yeah, you've been entrusted with more power, and you become more valued and appreciated. But since you do almost more seriously hard and important work than the rest of us combined nowadays...I don't think a single user could say you are not devoted/loyal (why else would you spend such time and effort), are knowledgeable of Wikicode of course, are experienced (you have been around for awhile), have very solid contributions, etc. That's not the issue.

Basically, I just need to know specifically how having admin tools would benefit you; show me why it is a worthy investment. It's not even a trust issue. Ultimately it boils down to the fact that there are still other candidates who could put the admin tools to much better use. So while they may not be as productive as you are (something I have almost no control over), they will stop more vandals and aid the deletion queue (something I have much control over).
