Annoyed...[]

I'm assuming this is due to the migration and everything, (I've been away for the past couple days) discussion pages now swap the nav sidebar to the right side. Is there a way to keep this on the left? Because it is very irritating. -- Isk8 Sk8 (T/C) 15:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Some show/hide-features on my userpage do not work any longer (e.g. [{{fullurl:User:Tapps75/Storyline_Characters/Heroes]). Is that correct|}} Will that be fixed? --tapps75 20:54, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Preliminarily, it seems that Show/Hide only works now if information to be toggled is added in the /NavFrame page, although this severely limits customizability. I'm still messing with them, though. Ruricu-sig (TalkContribs) 23:34, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Is the show hide stuff working everywhere else? Because suddenly some changes that I made to my own css regarding it are showing up unexpectedly. —JediRogue 03:54, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
My showhide things are working normally, though I have other formatting added rather than just using the showhide template itself. Entropy Sig (T/C) 03:57, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

</div>[]

Why are none of them closing? Or recognized as code now? </div>--AlariSig 22:52, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I hate it when they change the fucking wiki coding, cuz then it messes up THOUSANDS of /div tags and THOUSANDS of external links that start with gw.gamewikis and all redirect to the fucking main page instead of what they are SUPPOSED to link to. It's annoying as hell.--Marcopolo47 signature new (Talk) (Contr.) 22:54, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Um, the coding on your user page has epic breakages... the fact that the old codebase didn't show those breakages is like IE doing things wrong so that ppl writing things wrong don't see the problem... >_<" -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 23:03, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Explain how <div width="100%" align="center" style="border: 3px ridge #006699"> is broken then please? And why I can't close the box off?--AlariSig 23:14, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
It's the CENTER that is killing stuff. Its very existence breaks the DOM and causes DIVs not to close. You also had some FONT tags (which shouldn't be used also, but not the reason divs isn't closing IMO) that are not closing. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 23:19, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, in older versions of your header, not properly-closed FONT tags are also part of the problem why Divs aren't closing (the browser is still waiting for you to close the FONT first). -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 23:22, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
I know many of you have already fixed the HTML in your user pages and in other places, but I went ahead and changed a setting so that MediaWiki will automatically clean up that code for you like it did before. It's a quick fix to a bigger problem (the bigger problem being that the HTML is broken in the first place), but hopefully it will help get things back to normal more quickly. --KyleH (talk) 03:45, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Venting thoughts[]

I like the poll tag that we can do. I do not like:

  1. The white sidebar
  2. The implications of that (they broke my page - and now I have to fix it)
  3. The loss of the favicon (it's in the right place, but all I see is a taunting wikia W)
  4. The fact that they created some work finding and restoring the mediawiki defults.
  5. The Wikia messages sidebar

Did you hit "Save" twice? If not, might be a transaction session issue. Major Issue[]

ALL external links to gw.gamewikis auto-redirects to the main page of this. This breaks tens of thousands of external links within the site alone, without other sites' links to GuildWiki. This problem NEEDS to be fixed in a way that doesn't require manual changing of each individual link. Since you guys can automatically fix all the extra /div tags that were left after the migration, I'm presuming you can also fix this issue, at least on this site, if not the others. Gap on the right hand side[]

Since today I've a gap on the right hand side of the wide of the nav-menu on the left hand side. That annoys me since I've to scroll more down. I like stuff wide without wasting space. Will that be changed? --Birchwooda Treehug 15:11, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

That "gap" is caused by the placement of two other wikia wikis and four ads that you're probably blocking; it looks awful, and I hate it. Felix Omni Signature 17:41, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. The ads go on the right with our menu. Or on the bottom. This is insanely disruptive. They also appeared to have added a ton of extra junk on a page about remembering to sign. And as usual, they posted a message at the top of the page and didnt remove it when it was complete.—JediRogue 17:48, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't know where else to put this, but this is ridiculous, the entire lay out of my userpage is fucked up from the new ads on the right. I wouldn't consider Wikia spotlights as "ads", so I only see one ad per page on Monobook (well it's one ad "unit" often containing 4 sub-ads in it), and one ad per page on Monaco. Zero ads on Quartz (logged-in). There are two ads now (instead of one ad and two spotlight images) because we reverted back to the old GuildWiki skin which had the side ad in addition to the bottom ad. --KyleH (talk) 02:22, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Um, well, a lot of people complained about the single ad on the side, so they brought back the old skin. Right now, you are the only person who has complained about having one mini-ad on the left and one at the bottom (totaling 2), which may or may not be the reason Wikia feels not needing to respond to your complaint. If they promised one thing, lots of people complained, so they changed what they promised so that the number of ppl complaining reduced to 1, then in general it is easy for them to believe they made the right choice. Maybe it's possible to get them to put in two types of Monobooks: Gravewit's Monobook that you currently see (con: 2 ads), versus Wikia's Monobook that only has one ad (con: narrower content width). That way they technically fulfill their promise by offering a one-ad version which you can use, while keeping the majority of people concerned about the width happy. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 05:14, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Because of the way things are set up, it seems unlikely that we could have two separate monobook themes, and it is clear that the old one was preferred. If you want to see fewer ads, you may want to check out the Monaco skin, which has a single ad, or the Quartz skin, which displays no ads at all if you are logged in (although Quartz is no longer officially supported, so some of the system messages at the bottom do not display properly). Both of these skins do, however, have spotlight images, but on Monaco the main spotlight image is in a widget, so you can change where on the page it is displayed. It sometimes takes a while to adjust to Monaco, but after giving it a chance, going back to Monobook makes me cringe ;) (and if you have any suggestions about how to improve Monaco, please contribute). --KyleH (talk) 06:27, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
I've just applied this Monaco skin, i like it. However it could use some improvements, i saw the improvement page, and i'll think about what i'd like from the Monaco and sum it up when i get the chance.--DNA 01:02, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

ADS GO ON THE BOTTOM![]

I expect a comment from Wikia as to why the ads are no longer on the bottom and left side and are on the right side. This is EXTREMELY disruptive and throws off alot of the pages on a smaller resolution monitor. Many templates overflow into these ads and its horrible. I'm tempted to leave this wiki in favor the shittier but at least more pleasant to look at official one if this isn't rectified. —130.245.209.133 07:38, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Agreed, adds on the right side are ugly ugly and ugly... did I mention ugly ?Big Bow 05:39, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Another problem[]

That I have with this is the god-damn side ads. You guys are actually more than likely LOSING more money by making these ads more... obnoxious, because it makes it even MORE tempting for a user to get fed up with them and use coding to hide them. I for one never used to hide the advertisements when they were placed at the bottom of the screen (a less obtrusive area for them), but thanks to this not-too-well-thought-through idea, I am blocking all of those ads on the side. This, in turn, creates an empty area, essentially a waste of space. It also, as I believe is mentioned somewhere above, breaks multiple pages for users using a lower resolution. Templates will regularly cross into the advertisements, which makes it harder to see both the template and the advertisement. I HIGHLY SUGGEST that you change the advertisement location. These ads are both disruptive and extremely annoying. --Marcopolo47 signature new (Talk) (Contr.) 19:12, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

And have no purpose --Gimmethegepgun 19:13, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

My .css has some code to span the page over the white space. --- VipermagiSig-- (s)talkpage 19:26, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
The problem is that monobook.css is a custom skin, which Wikia didn't design, so naturally their ads would be misplaced on it. They're fine in Monaco, although I wouldn't argue that you should all switch skins, cuz Monaco is a bit annoying. Felix Omni Signature 19:27, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I have coding for both, and so can use both. —MaySigWarw/Wick 19:30, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
The problem with your .css, Viper, is that it doesn't really get rid of the extra space, only pushes it over to the side, which makes my page wider than it can show, and that's more of a hindrince to me. Regardless, you shouldn't have to use coding or change your screen just so you don't have extremely vexing advertisements appearing on the right side of the screen.--Marcopolo47 signature new (Talk) (Contr.) 19:33, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Hiding them still causes them to load on the page. If they are being paid for each time it loads on a page, hiding makes no difference. But leaving it there and therefore encouraging people to hide it probably violates some terms of use with the google ads. The simple solution is to put these junk on the bottom (I have no issue with this.) Most of us understand that you want to have your ads on a page. But placement is a major issue with us because we are also competing with the official wiki. I like this one better because its more complete and has alot less bureaucracy to wade through, imo. But if the other one is easier to look at, thats going to be the winner. 130.245.23.139 19:33, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Mr IP, they get some money for showing them, and more for someone actually clicking on them. With more and more people hiding them, they are losing money. Place them back at the bottom, where they originally were, and all of these problems are fixed.--Marcopolo47 signature new (Talk) (Contr.) 19:36, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Monaco skin definitely fixes this right side issue with the ads. I at least recommend that people that find it visually disruptive test out the monaco skins to see the difference. Ad Solution[]

I made a page layout that keeps the ads but moves them. It keeps both the wikia spotlights and I know that the google ads come in horizontal and vertical versions so this shouldn't be a big problem. I even added another wikia logo to the footer because it doesn't appear anywhere else clearly.

Resolution?[]

Hey all. I hope you don't mind, but I consolidated all the add discussion in to one section to make it easier to follow. As I mentioned before, we hear and understand your complaints regarding your ads, and I am happy to say that the old GuildWiki skin, with the ads on the bottom of the page, will be returning. I am sorry that it has taken this long to reach a resolution, but it took quite a bit of work from our tech team to make it happen, and I wanted to make sure that we were good to go before I made any promises. The new skin may be in place as early as Tuesday morning; however, it may take a little longer. While changing the skin should be rather painless, please report any problems that you experience here so that we can address them. Thanks! --KyleH (talk) 04:47, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks so much, Kyle. You guys' handling of this has done a lot to alleviate many of my concerns about Wikia and how we will be treated. Database Merge[]

Alright, let's get cracking! First off, I think a lot of those userspace articles will cause a significant problem because of templates; for instance {{/Smellysocks}} would no longer work on User:GW-Bob's userpage. D: It also can't be good when random Wikia users get hundreds of userspace pages for no reason. What happens if User:Bob/Smellysocks and User:GW-Bob/Smellysocks both existed before the merge? Felix Omni Signature 21:36, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, that's the main thing that I'm worried about, which is why I tried to get an idea of the impact beforehand using the username survey. Fixing subpages should be fairly simple, but until the change happens, it's hard to determine whether it's best to do it by hand, or set up a bot to do it.
With the scenario of both User:Bob/Smellysocks and User:GW-Bob/Smellysocks both existing, because subpages will not automatically be moved, they'll both stay at their respective locations. As for the actual users Bob and GW-Bob, we'll be handling those on a case-by-case basis and posting information about any such conflicts. --KyleH (talk) 21:48, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, that final concern isn't really one, User:Bib/Smellysocks will probably be on another wiki in the unlikely event it exists. As for {{/Smellysocks}}, most users probably won't find it too hard to move their pages to their new username. For the few that have a bunch of pages like that (poor Entropy) Wikia can hopefully arrange either the bot-move or inactice-name-replacement Kyle was talking about.Entrea SumataeEntrea [Talk] 21:53, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Yup, which I find it rather pointless that they even compiled the list. If you created an account on Wikia, I'm sure you would know that you did or not. If you tried, and it told you someone already had that name, then you would know it was taken. Wow, lots of discussion here. Unfortunately, there is no easy way for you to check how active a given Wikia user is because because while the user database is centralized, contributions, user pages, and the like are still specific to each individual wiki. Special:Listusers on Central Wikia represents only a fraction of active users. There are a number of names here that do conflict; however, they are not on that list because they signed the username survey and the local account here will replace the existing account on Wikia. That said, I can't guarantee that the list is completely free from omissions, but we will work with you through any username conflicts that do come up. --KyleH (talk) 08:08, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I think the issue he raised is that GW account gets renamed to GW-blab, but its userpages didn't get moved accordingly. I know this for a fact, but it doesn't effect me because I own both accts. --Voidvector 02:42, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
User pages should move automatically with the account itself, although subpages need to be manually moved. I think it didn't work for you, Void, because it somehow didn't move your account, but split it instead(?). Note that the project page mentioned that pages might not move right away, but if all works like it should, they should move. --GEO-logo Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:32, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

my opinion on this[]

it's fugly. it's a big mess. a fugly big mess. (and those aren't cool.) It never should have happened. — Nova Neo-NovaSmall(contribs) 18:29, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

A new thing to worry about[]

Hey guys, watch this.
rickroll1.gif
Neat, huh. Posting an image's URL direct-links the image now; vandals can image-spam without having to go through the trouble of creating an account and uploading images. Also, this probably breaks countless talk pages with links to screenshots and the like on them. Sweet. Felix Omni Signature 08:18, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

External image hotlinking is *supposed* to be disabled I think... with photobucket being on a whitelist >_<" -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 08:26, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, as you can see from this image badgerdj1.jpg taken from User talk:Lann, that's not the case. Hotlinking will be bad for load times, and would be very easy to exploit- post a thousand links to that rickroll gif on one page to see what I mean. Felix Omni Signature 08:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
It's better now. :D Felix Omni Signature 08:31, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
No it's not RT | Talk 15:52, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
If there is concensus to do so, we can remove the ability to use any external images. By default, as PanSola said, most external images are blocked; however, a few sites like ImageShack are whitelisted. You can view the full whitelist here. --KyleH (talk) 17:56, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Because hotlinking removes the need for licensing details, one of the things we take rather seriously here, I would vote to remove the capability altogether. Felix Omni Signature 18:11, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Remove imo --Macros 18:12, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

(resetting indent) It seems that the verdict is unamious. I have requested that the tech team disable the the embedding of external images. This change should be implemented some time in the next few days. --KyleH (talk) 04:47, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Still working on this ... --KyleH (talk) 04:37, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
I know it's been a while, but I just wanted to let you know that this should be fixed very soon (with the next Wikia code release). It is a change that required some custom coding to implement. --KyleH (talk) 06:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Looks like you did it. They're just external links now. — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o, 16:03, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

If you're talking about renaming an account that wasn't moved during the database merge then it's technically possible of course, but I'm not sure if Wikia will be doing this. (It requires moving a lot of sub pages, and renaming a lot of signatures...) If you're talking about renaming an account that was moved during the merge, then you can request a rename to anything that isn't taken by someone else. — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o, 09:10, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

GW-Wolfie to Wolfie_[]

Does it help if we each start a sub-section under "Rename Requests", ie easier to see who's requesting what change? Anyway, I would like to request "GW-Wolfie" user name be changed to "Wolfie_" (note, the underscore at the end). I have used that combination before on other forums, wikis etc where a name conflict existed, so would like to retain this identity. Regards Wolfie Wolfie sig (talk|contribs) 06:15, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Could I please have an update on why this request has not been enacted, has been nearly 3 days and while I note many other requests below have been done, mine has not, and would like some feedback on what's the hold up. As noted back on April 30, 2008 (see comment here, my original user name of "Wolfie" apparently conflicted with an existing Wikia account (why someone created an account with my user name is unknown, but that account has absolutely nothing to do with me, maybe it's inactive?).
Anyway, if it's possible I can be reverted back to "Wolfie" (ie, remove that other account and rename "GW-Wolfie" back to just "Wolfie"), that would be great! Otherwise, can settle for "Wolfie_" (with the underscore), just by the gods please ensure I do not loose credit for all the edits I have made on this wiki. I am getting rather keen to fix up my userspace articles etc, but require my user name be sorted out first, so some form of feedback would be appreciated as to what's to happen, maybe I can provide further informtion. Wolfie Wolfie sig (talk|contribs) 02:56, 13 May 2008 (UTC) PS: I note my idea of creating a sub-section per user request caught on :)
Sorry for the delay. The underscore at the end was a bit problematic, as we don't allow user names that end in a _. Fortunately, Wolfie turned out to be inactive since 2006, so you're now back to your old username. :) Please check whether everything is in order. Again, sorry for the delay and thanks for bringing some order to this page. Makes my work a lot easier. :P --TOR 12:21, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
That is wonderful news about being able to revert back to my original user name, sadly however, something has gone terribly wrong!!
  • I cannot login as "Wolfie" (had to login in as "GW-Wolfie" to post this message)
  • A search of Special:Listusers shows there is no "Wolfie" account ("Wolfie 1972" and "Wolfie pt" are not to do with me), the user name "GW-Wolfie" does however still show up and as noted above, is what I had to use to login
  • My user page is incorrectly located under User:GW-Wolfie (yes, there is a redirect from User:Wolfie to User:GW-Wolfie, but that's not a solution)
  • My contributions however do appear correctly under Special:Contributions/Wolfie (please tell me I've not lost them!?)
So it's appearing like the renaming of my account back from "GW-Wolfie" to plain "Wolfie" has failed part way through or something to that effect. Needless to say, I am now getting a little concerned about if my account has become corrupted, but am hoping Wikia staff will be able to perhaps manually correct this situation in a way that keeps everything intact, help!! --Wolfie Wolfie sig (talk|contribs) 00:03, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
It could be similar to the situation that Tain listed below. He had the same problem as you, and re-created the account, and kept his contributions. That would be my suggestion. -- Isk8 User:Isk8 (T/C) 01:36, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion, I wouldn't want to jeopardise anything Wikia might be working on to correct the situation, so am waiting to hear what they recommend. Also, if I were to re-create an account under the original user name, would then lose my configuration and far more importantly, my current watchlist (which contains many 100s of pages), would be a major time-expense to re-watch all those topics again. Maybe if TOR can confirm beforehand that my original watchlist can be recovered (re, the Watchlist recovery option below), then might be an option, assuming there's no other "cleaner" way of renaming my account back from GW-Wolfie to Wolfie (ie, expected it would have just been the same process used to rename the account in the first place?). --Wolfie Wolfie sig (talk|contribs) 01:12, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

GW-Guu to Guu[]

I could't find any user named "Guu" here http://www.wikia.com/index.php?title=Special%3AListusers&username=Gu&group=&limit=50 so could I have my username renamed back to how it was before the merge? --GW-Guu 00:12, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Done. --TOR 15:22, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the change, I can log in as Guu again. ^^ I wonder though, why the username in my preferences still says "GW-Guu" and the navigation bar on top still links to the now empy User:GW-Guu page ... the user page itself was correctly moved to User:Guu. --GW-Guu 16:14, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Merge accounts[]

You could have merged them if you had acted before the database conglomeration. Now you just sort of have to choose one. Felix Omni Signature 22:42, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Wait, WoWWiki merged recently too, but i didn't get another account there, how come it's different here? --Voidvector 22:50, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
You can request a name merge here. Cress Arvein Cress sig 23:07, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I too need my usernames merged. I am and have both JediRogue and GW-JediRogue and I don't need both. I was JediRogue on Wikia before the merge and I expected to keep it. Additionally, only GW-JediRogue is a sysop here and irritating to log in and out to ban people lol. What is currently being done to handle all this confusion? —JediRogue 23:11, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Not sure if you guys are still working on this issue, but I made changed my email address on 1 of the accounts to match the other. Unable to log in[]

Since the migration, I have been unable to log in and it says I never entered an email address. How can I resolve this issue? -- Tarun / 71.63.89.37 21:28, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Looks like your name was changed to User:GW-Tarun - try logging in as that, if that works, see above to get your name changed (if the wikia user is inactive, you may be able to change back to tarun RandomTime 19:18, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
When I checked, my username of Tarun is still in existence. I can tell because my talk page is still there as I made it: User_talk:Tarun and I'd prefer to keep Tarun and not have GW-Tarun, honestly. -- GW-Tarun 22:39, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Just want to point out that:
  1. technically you can create talkpages for non-existent users too. But this technically point is pretty irrelevant because...
  2. the entire reason you were renamed is because there is a User:Tarun already in existence on the Wikia user database. You got a "disambiguation" username because of the conflict. If you can prove you own the Tarun account on Wikia then they may be merged. Or, if Wikia's Tarun is an inactive user (or at least significantly less active than you), then it might be possible for you to take over the Tarun account and get the other guy renamed.
-User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 22:52, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, looking at the History for that page, it now shows in History that it was made by GW-Tarun. Though back when I made it, it was to Tarun. Frankly I don't care for this new merge of the databases. I want my name back and I honestly do not like how I was not able to choose to keep it or not. -- 71.63.89.37 00:49, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Because your account was renamed, the contributions are also changed to point to your account, so that the history does not incorrectly credit the other guy who owns the Tarun account on Wikia. That is the expected behavior. As for not having a choice, if the Wikia Tarun is an inactive user (which currently we do not know whether is the case or not), then you in fact had a choice. The whole user database merge had been in the site notice for weeks before it happened, and you took no action. So it is like complaining you didn't have a choice in who the President is because you didn't pay attention to the fact that you can vote. Right now, the constructive course of action would be to get the Wikia staff look into whether the Wikia Tarun guy is active or not. Simply complaining under the "Not able to log in" section may or may not speedily attract the attention of the Wikia staff in charge of renaming users (in case one person specialize in renaming users, another person specialize in fixing bugs that prevent users from logging in). -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 05:24, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
I just looked at your account, and I believe that we can probably recover your original username. Please edit the Rename Requests section and add the change. --KyleH (talk) 06:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

im so confused[]

User:JediRogue redirects to User:JediRogue. But Special:Mypage goes to User:JediRogue also, I have no idea whats going on with my preferences. I miss my edit count. I have no idea if I redid my sig right, and RC looks all funny. —JediRogue 21:43, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

It also seems to have reset signatures- that's going to frustrate a lot of users. Well done, Wikia. Felix Omni Signature 21:49, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Mine were unaffected as well.--AlariSig 22:05, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Preferences seem to have been copied from Wikia to GuildWiki; my signature and settings from my Wikia account seem to have been applied here as well, instead of being left as they were. (I kept my preferences pretty much the same on both, so getting my slightly different signature back was easy enough.)
The one thing that confuses me is, in my preferences, it lists my edit count as 1, yet if you check Special:Editcount/Jioruji Derako, I still have all 2,869 intact. (my preferences listed a zero before, but I just finished making an edit a little further down the page.) Is there a way to un-reset user preferences? --GEO-logo Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:37, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
It may take a few days for all of the database information to sync up. If your preferences still do not have the proper edit count within the next few days, post another message. --KyleH (talk) 06:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
So theoretically, given a few days to sort itself out, the edit count/user ID/things like that should just update and fix themselves? As of today, my edit count is 4, I'll check on it again in a couple of days and post the results. --GEO-logo Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 12:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
About a week later? And I still only have ten edits. Should I expect that to change soon, or is it a glitch? --GEO-logo Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 00:49, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, the edit count under preferences seems to be totally ruined. However, Special:Editcount still works fine, and it's better anyway.Entrea SumataeEntrea [Talk] 02:23, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
I've reported this bug, but I'm not going to press too hard to get it fixed given that Special:Editcount still displays properly. --KyleH (talk) 21:31, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

ok, so it appears that this was an intentional change that the MediaWiki developers made in MediaWiki 1.12. Please check if you want to create/edit this page. (only at: this one) -- The Falling One SigThe Falling One 13:38, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

The page you linked to was saying that because **the Falling One** is different from **The Falling One** (normally, it capitalizes the first letter of your username automatically, but since you have the *'s in there, the t isn't the first letter and you need to capitalize it). I moved it to here, so it should be okay now.
