AFK event? What? Cope Land

AFK = Away From Keyboard to me, so I am not sure what you mean. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 04:06, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

GuildWiki Icon Change[edit source]

I could make something for that, I made several for GWW (see here). I will try to make a new icon within the next couple days, gaming comp is out atm and this computer is SLOW so it might take a while ;) --Shadowphoenix 16:09, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Already have an icon ;/. and it looks winner than anything that anyone could possibly make :P. —MaySig.png Warw/Wick 16:11, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Linky please? I would still like to make one to se if other like it, I enjoy making them :) --Shadowphoenix 16:13, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Tenetke's wintersday wiki logo
It really looks awesome, no? ;). —MaySig.png Warw/Wick 16:14, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh, very nice indeed. I will still try to make one, see how it works out :) --Shadowphoenix 16:19, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, some people are actually really talented at designing with photoshop. I don't think I could ever make something like that ;). Good luck ;P. —MaySig.png Warw/Wick 16:21, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
LOL, I am about as good at photoshop as a donkey is at long division. I use Fireworks to make my logos. --Shadowphoenix 16:27, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) We could use a favicon.ico though. --◄mendel► 20:22, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

By the way... why don't I have any icon at the moment? Silver Sunlight SSunlight.jpg (T/C) 20:31, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Mendel, I could do that! :D --Shadowphoenix 21:07, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Ok, here is my first attempt at the favicon. Tell me if you want something done to it or if you want a differen one. This is 19x11 and it is the Gingerbread Shield and it looks kinda like he is holding a Peppermint and WinterGreen Candy Cane as swords. I tried to make it similar to the actual icon. Eeee, cute. Felix Omni Signature.png 21:26, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

I have some crates of fireworks to donate if you're still looking. I think this is a great idea... =D -IGN: Matthew Wisemind 19:32, 1 December 2008

Poll[edit source]

I liked the snowfall. Don't really like the re-skin much Viruzzz 14:16, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Pretty nice job, I like it anyway. I didn't see something, though, until I logged in and my preferences started working. Maybe you need to fix that? Eleh Mhent 09:11, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
It's a Wikia issue, and they're aware of it - their caching system for the Monaco skin is not working properly. So logged-out users won't see the new backgrounds. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 14:30, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Omg, the bg-image is hidious. Ewwww... *eyes bleed* -- Gem (gem / talk) 20:16, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it's awful. 82.17.97.76 15:51, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

It's nice but it's kinda annoying to have to have a wiki account to turn it off, is there a way to set it up to be more user-friendly? It's a nice effort to do something in the holiday spirit and I'm sure alot of people like it, but sometimes this kind of thing can become tediously distracting when looking at text while scrolling down a page. --72.220.203.111 22:07, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

The caching problems have been resolved, logged out users have been able to see the decorations since the Monaco skin update finally went live some hours ago. --◄mendel► 03:18, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Uh I can't even see the poll on the browser which is having the problems with the decorations (IE6.0 with javascript disabled). The poll shows up on Firefox which is rendering the decorations ok. Anyway, I don't like it - on some browsers the background image ends up under text and makes it hard to read.

Thank god the world isn't designed around IE. That browser is about as useful as I don't know what is something else that is really useless and even when you do use it for what it was intended it preforms so bad it makes you want to hurt someone ?Spikeicon.pngTenetke MekkoMy Talk Page 19:42, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
I think the new poll applet that Wikia made and that we have to use requires Javascript. This is unfortunate, but I'm afraid there's little we can do except ask you to post your opinion as you have done here - thank you.
The blue-white snow shouldn't be showing behind the article text, I suggested a fix at GuildWiki_talk:Wintersday/Wiki_decorations#White_Tree_background_partially_missing_on_IE6 which might help you (I haven't been able to test this yet). --◄mendel► 22:19, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Wiki Background Theme[edit source]

No idea if this has been posted before or if this is the right place for my comment. If not, please redirect me. This comment is about the background theme this wiki page is using during the Wintersday theme. Since this new background, my pc is having a lot of trouble loading the page and even when loaded, scrolling and next page is slower than usual. Upon logging in, I get my own theme loaded without the snowy background and everything loads within miliseconds and works like a charm.

The background image is just to high res, having 300kb+ of size and more than 2000x1900 resolution, no wonder my browser+pc is having difficulty loading the page. I'm using wiki on the second screen next to my first screen where I run GW. This way, I can read and play at the same time. The load problems arise only with this snowy background is used in the theme. I'm using FireFox latest version and have a system thats more than capable of doing browsing and gaming at the same time. Even without gaming the site is slow to load.

Since the new theme I'm using the official GW wiki more often. I dont think having a slow loading page without logging on is good buissness for this page, while there are alternatives. Removing the image, or downscaling it is a good option to correct the loading issue.NexceveN 20:32, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

I am using a 1.6 GHz PC with 1 GB RAM on Windows XP Pro with Firefox 3 and I have no problem browsing and playing. The one thing I have different from default is in system properties (you get that by right-click, then properties of "My Computer") , extended tab, visual effects set to optimal performance. (might not be these exact names, I am translating from German).
If you experience this slowdown and are willing to help us, you can put the line with the snow in it in you personal .css and change the URL for the image and see if it helps to use a smaller image - I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't. --◄mendel► 04:28, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I also experience slow page scrolling with this background pic and would be glad to be rid of it. Phineas 18:31, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

I haven't seen on win2k pc with IE7 - until finally logging in today[edit source]

I could only see the snow background since the christmas theme was added (on this PC = win2k, IE-7?). I could see on other friends PC's over the holidays running XP or Vista. After finally logging in today to my account, now I see the new wiki logo.--ShmEk 02:16, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for reporting this issue. (I can't figure out what causes it, but you never know.) --◄mendel► 06:41, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Wintersday 2010[edit source]

Are we going to change the background and icons again for the Wiki like was done in 2008? Nylana Greymoon 21:07, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
