Infusion path

The green pointer marks the Seer.

Mursaat are nearly untouchable when you first encounter them--not because you can't damage them, but because you can't live long enough to touch them! Their Spectral Agony attack can bring down the toughest of heroes in seconds. Fortunately, there is a method to protect you from this devastating skill: Infusion.

Infusion is the process of imbuing a set of armor with magic that shields against Spectral Agony. An armor with this magic is said to be "infused." All armor can be infused. When a Mursaat's Spectral Agony attack strikes a piece of infused armor, the damage is greatly reduced (click on Spectral Agony above for details).

To get your armor infused, you must seek out a Seer and give it the Spectral Essence of an Eidolon or Ice Beast. This is first explained in the Iron Mines of Moladune mission. The Seer will inform you about the location of the Eidolon and ask you to slay it and bring back its essence. This same process is repeated at a few other locations (see below). The Seer, once given the essence, will then infuse the currently-worn armor set of every member in the party who speaks to it.

Note: Because the Spectral Essence is an item a party member has to carry in their hands (and not in the inventory), it cannot be transported from one place to another. So, everytime you want to get infused you will have to find a Seer and an Eidolon to kill.

Tips

  1. Infuse each piece of armor you want to wear! Aside from the missions, there are Mursaat in many explorable areas in the Southern Shiverpeaks and the Ring of Fire Islands.
  2. If you keep multiple sets of armor, or change your armor later in the game, you must come back and infuse the new set to survive against the Mursaat. None of the armors in the game start infused, not even the most expensive ones.
  3. Only armor you are wearing when talking to the seer is infused. Items in your inventory will not get infused. Make sure you have the correct pieces equipped.
  4. Thunderhead Keep is the first outpost where Henchmen start with infused armor.
  5. When the seer infuses your armor, your henchmen's armor will be infused as well. This is usually only relevant for the Iron Mines of Moladune mission. (This was changed during the 1/26/06 update.)

Other infusion locations

  • There is a seer in the north-easternmost section of Mineral Springs that will infuse your armor. The Eidolon in that area is right before you reach the Seer and is called an Ice Beast. You will have to defeat it and several Ice Imps and a Siege Golem to reach him.
  • There is a seer in the Ring of Fire (Mission) that will infuse your armor, see mission for details.
  • There is a seer in the Abaddon's Mouth (Mission) that will infuse your armor, see mission for details.

Notes

  • Pets are already infused, so you don't have to take them along to get them infused.
  • It appears that the Titans are infused or have something more powerful, as they can easily wipe out Mursaat without taking much damage.
