Couldn't you make it a bit more specific Fyren? Instead of making it sound like it's all bad, say that it'll be down for maintenance to improve speed before the new server comes in? At the moment it sounds like our servers suck and just to screw you all over some more we'll be taking them down intermittently! --Xasxas256 23:05, 3 November 2006 (CST)

Explain issues[]

In an effort to try patching our badly damaged PR, can a link be added to this message to an article named something like GuildWiki:Server Status that outlines the issues encountered with upgrading the server, why it was delayed, and what was involved in fixing the issue? I don't have even a fraction of the details myself, and don't want to place mis-information out there - so if those with that knowledge could do this, I feel it would help towards improving the sites relations to the community. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 13:17, 16 November 2006 (CST)

We've got GuildWiki:Server status now. My question is can we change the wording from:
New machine is running (and uploads have been enabled again). Please report problems using the "report a bug" link on the left.
To something like:
The new server is fully operational (and uploads have been enabled again). Please report any problems using the "Report a Bug" link on the left.
I prefer "server" over "machine" and on the nav bar it's written as "Report a Bug". Also "please any report problems" sounds better than ""please report problems" in my opinion, the latter sounds like we're antipating a massive barrage of problems! --Xasxas256 22:27, 16 November 2006 (CST)
I updated the wording using your suggested changes, as well as inserting links to the server info and report a bug page. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 12:07, 17 November 2006 (CST)

Remove?[]

Can this irritating banner be removed please? It has served its purpose. The Good Life 10:00, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

GuildWiki is changing its default font-family to serif. You can changed your personal settings to the old ways via a tutorial coming soon.[]

Should be: GuildWiki is changing its default font-family to serif. You can change your personal settings to the old ways via a tutorial coming soon. RT | Talk - A joyous wintersday to all 21:27, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Tutorial[]

I'm actually not gonna do the tutorial until a few days later (busy with other stuff so no time to do indepth explainations). If anyone wants to start it, be my guest. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 21:31, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Removal[]

You removed it because of a lack of discussion about it, but it's already been changed --Gimmethegepgun 00:27, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

My understanding was that the original plan was to have the entire site be set as a serif. That would certainly be worthy of the fanfare of an announcement. The fact that this is not definitively occurring should mean the announcement comes down. If the announcement reads otherwise, that any changes are coming and we can expect a big todo over just the heading, is the change to the heading worth the fanfare? —JediRogue 00:39, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
It certainly is annoying :/ --Gimmethegepgun 01:02, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Um? Let me rephrase. Do you think that the notice is necessary just to point out that we changed the heading to a serif? I'm so confused!. —JediRogue 01:09, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Maybe not, but I figured it was intended to change all the font, which would be insanely annoying (and completely pointless) --Gimmethegepgun 01:12, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Center tags are very evil. I've nuked them. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 08:49, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikia user db merge notice[]

It's been more than a month, and they're not accepting any more user rename requests, so I say we remove the notice. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 16:21, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

They aren't? Remove then, I guess. --Shadowcrest 16:22, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Ummm[]

That message is really invasive. I liked the plain text better tbh --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 10:13, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

That was the point, to make it noticeable. But now I guess it's a matter of balance. It has to be noticeable...but it can't look like an ad...and at the same time it shouldn't be too invasive for those who already know about the page (but are too lazy to dismiss the notice). Rock Paper Scissors? Entropy Sig (T/C) 04:18, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
The current notice is fine. Not big, a neutral color, but till noticable. The red-dashed brick was just... scary, basically. --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 10:01, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

PvX[]

Can we take it down now? --Shadowcrest 19:53, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

I've thought that, too, but the I noticed we still get 100 new votes on the poll per day, so I didn't. --◄mendel► 02:23, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Hat issue[]

This seems to be fixed now. Maybe it's time to remove that note? Nwash User-Nwash-Eyes 20:44, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

I think this would be more appropriate (and permanent) as an article linked from main page, near GuildWiki on IRC, rather than as a sitenotice. Thoughts? Felix Omni Signature 21:47, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Guildwiki:Community Portal IMO. --◄mendel► 22:01, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, put it on the CommPo, and maybe even on GuildWiki:IRC. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 22:04, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

out of date[]

by one month now. Clear the sitenotice? --◄mendel► 09:32, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

I think I'm going bald bold and clear it. --Vipermagi 12:47, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
