Mouvelian calendar

The Mouvelian Calendar is the official calendar in Tyria. It is named after Grand Patriarch Mouvel, the first high-priest of the Church of Dwayna.

The calendar counts years relative to the Exodus of the Gods, an event that took place 1072 years prior to the beginning of the game. Years Before the Exodus (BE) and After the Exodus (AE) increase the further the date is from the Exodus.

These are some of the milestones in the Mouvelian Calendar

• 1072 AE: Present Time in the game (post-searing)
• 1071 AE: The Bay of Sirens is renamed "Sea of Sorrows" (The Cataclysm).
• 1070 AE: End of the Guild Wars.
• 1070 AE: The Charr Invasion (The Searing).
• 1013 AE: Beginning of the Guild Wars.
• 898 AE: The Great Northern Wall is erected.
• 860 AE: Nolani is created.
• 851 AE: Lord Odran enters the Rift.
• 358 AE: Kryta becomes an independent nation.
• 300 AE: Kryta becomes a colony.
• 272 AE: Glint (first creation of the Old Gods) foresees the Flameseeker Prophecies (best guess).
• 221 AE: Cantha starts trade relations with Tyria.
• 174 AE: Serpents leave the world of men.
• 2 AE: Orr becomes an independent nation.
• 1 AE: The Exodus of the Gods
• 1 BE: The Old Gods give magic to the races of Tyria.
• 100 BE: High planes human settlements become known as Ascalon.
• 205 BE: Humans appear on the Tyrian continent.
• 1769 BE: Serpents arrive in Tyria.
• 10,000 BE: Last signs of Giganticus Lupicus (the Great Giants) walking on Tyrian continent (best guess).

The year in the Mouvelian Calendar is made of 360 days divided into 4 seasons, dedicated to the 4 elements:

1. Season of the Zephyr (Air): Days 1-90
2. Season of the Phoenix (Fire): Days 91-180
3. Season of the Scion (Water): Days 181-270
4. Season of the Colossus (Earth): Days 271-360
