Obsidian Shards are rare crafting materials.
Usage
Obsidian Shards are mainly used to craft Obsidian armor:
- Warrior Obsidian armor
- Ranger Obsidian armor
- Monk Obsidian armor
- Necromancer Obsidian armor
- Mesmer Obsidian armor
- Elementalist Obsidian armor
- Assassin Obsidian armor
- Ritualist Obsidian armor
- Paragon Obsidian armor
- Dervish Obsidian armor
Crafting Obsidian armor is done by the Eternal Forgemaster, who is in the Fissure of Woe.
Their high value also makes them useful as currency, especially for trades of more than 100 platinum, however ecto are almost always used for this purpose.

Where to buy it
Obsidian Shards may be bought from Rare Material Trader, or from players who farm the Fissure of Woe, found at the Temple of the Ages in Prophecies, Zin Ku Corridor in Factions, and Chantry of Secrets in Nightfall.
What salvages into it
Only Obsidian armor can turn into Obsidian Shards when you salvage it.
