Description

Strider is the name given to all Moa Birds (from Post-Searing Ascalon) in Pre-Searing Ascalon. They can be found in the fields outside of Ashford Village and near the gates of Ascalon City in Pre-Searing Ascalon. Contary to the information on the Prima Guide and copied by many other fansites, they do slashing damage just like regular Moa Birds, as opposed to Piercing damage. They are sizeably bigger than the normal Post-Searing Moa Birds.

Notes

Previously, if you attacked the Striders near the location of the Beautiful Feather outside of the Ashford Abbey and killed them, one or more aggressive Striders would appear and attack you. This is believed to be an allusion to the killing of Cuccos in the Legend of Zelda games.

Outside of the Barradin Estate, a strider spawns next to a resurrection shrine. This bird is very useful for death-leveling.

-These can also prove to be very useful in some cases when attempting to aquire the "Legendary Protector Of Ascalon" title. This is done my simply power leveling the Strider yourself. This can only be done outside of the Barradin Estate, as it's the only place a Strider spawns next to a revive shrine. Depending on how high level you are, you can get it to level 20. I know that if you power level it at your level 11 it can get to around 14 before it stops getting experience. These are good for the Char as their armour level increases in the same way as Heroes do. And for the people that don't want to do the title as Ranger for their secondary profession, you don't have to. Just do the quest to get Charm animal, and don't complete the quest. Just go and get a strider with no secondary profession. Obvisouly if you take Charm animal off the skill bar it will dissapear.
