I just tested and I'm almost 100% sure that channeling magic does not have armor penetration.

Fixed. Sign your comments next time. --Ufelder 13:14, 31 December 2006 (CST)

Casting symbol?[]

No casting symbol? --Armond Warblade Warrior(talk) 16:18, 13 May 2007 (CDT) should we add a note that some channeling magic spells also cause exhaustion now?Cardsharp 00:53, 14 August 2007 (CDT) Not anymore it seems. Hurray!

Channeling vs Smiting[]

Why is this an awesome attribute while its monk counterpart is pretty weak. The attributes of Rit vs monk are interchangeable based on what they do (Heal, kill, stop damage) so why is this one so much more powerful than Smiting. Sure, Smiting is overpowered every once in a while, but that never lasts, while this has been around for ages now. Arcdash 00:43, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

The answer, interestingly, is Divine Favor. Spawning Power has very little synergy with Channeling Magic, whereas Divine Favor makes Smiting powerful. Or has the potential to, I should say. 208.44.247.101 00:51, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
But...it makes Splinter Weapon last longer and it makes Destruction more resilient!!!oneone
They could buff Spawning Power (again) by adding +1% AP on Rit skills for every point, or something like that :> Entropy Sig (T/C) 01:20, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
The other day I was owned in TA with my RA group by a team of four smiters. So I'd say Smiting is very OP.
No but seriously, monks do a much better job healing/protting than rits with their Resto skills, so I guess ANet compensated with Channeling. --Alf's Hitman 03:48, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Attuned Was Songkai or Spirit Light Weapon, in certain situation, are infinitely more efficient for redbarring. But yeah, Monks are still generally the better option, if only for prot. Entropy Sig (T/C) 04:17, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
You kidding Hitman? Resto with AWS completely kicks the shit out of a healmonk, especially since it can spam into infinity, and beyond! Also, the reason why the majority of Smiting does not synergize WHATSOEVER with DF is that many of the skills directly attack the enemy, and thus get absolutely 0 benefit from DF, while, being a rit, spirits/weapon spells are generally used by pretty much any rit, and so Spawning Power helps. Especially since Channeling elites kinda suck, but AWS owns --Gimmethegepgun 04:42, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
I shoulda have said healing + protting, else looks like I'm saying pure red bars or pure prot bars are good. --Alf's Hitman 04:50, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh, that's right. Smiter's Boon got nerfed because of the tremendous effects it had on the direct damage skills. Silly me. Felix Omni Signature 04:51, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Direct damage=target enemy, Felix --Gimmethegepgun 15:43, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
This is why Channeling Magic on Monks is win Entropy Sig (T/C) 16:10, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
