Drop Rate fluctuations[]

Observation: Item drop rate for crafting material. Crafting material that is in short supply at traders drops in larger stacks from monsters. While it has yet to be 'proven' you can compare the drop rate of bones and cloth/tanned hides. You will find that both cloth and tanned hides drop in stacks of 8-15 while bones are ALWAYS in stacks of 1-2. I have recently noticed that the amount getting dropped is in direct correspondance to the trader. I think there is a game mechinism in place to replenish short supplies by increasing that particular items amount in drops. For now this is speculation. --Draygo Korvan 15:16, 4 May 2006 (CDT)

Maybe it has been changed since, but I have never had bones drop in quantity less then 10. --- Lightpl 13:46, 22 October 2006 (CDT)

We have more materials than ANet! :)[]

They list 34 in the game news tidbit about the new storage slots, we have 36! We pwned ANet! :) The reason, I guess, is that they are not counting the Brock of Mud and Brick of Clay. --Karlos 01:29, 30 June 2006 (CDT)

Question???[]

Is it a Proven factor than rare materials have a higher drop rate in factions (and or Nightfall) compared to tyria and if yes will this apply to a Sub-Regions (Underworld - Fissure of Woe)?

Surely there wouldn't be a difference in UW drop rates based upon what chapter you left from! DeathStarNova 13:47, 21 January 2007 (CST)

I do believe the drop rate of rare materials is higher in nightfall if you look at the drops in prophecies (no Factions, so no info on that). All my rare materials i found are all from NF, and not that i got a lot, but i come across them a lot more than in prophecies. No UW/FOW player, so also no info on the drops there through the other compaigns.

Mistake[]

Erm, u said that rare crafts drop very less in Tyria, but asexample of a drop u pick Smite Crwlers wich spawn only in the UW, but the UW DOESN'T BELONG to Tyria...—Merry MerrySig(talk | contribs) 16:16, 19 March 2007 (CDT)

Yeah I'll change that, gimme a sec --Blue.rellik 05:52, 14 June 2007 (CDT)

Old school drop rate?[]

Is it just me, but I've been playing since about 6 years ago, and it seems that the drop rate of crafting materials has jackpotted in recent years. I remember on my first playthrough of prophecies, salvaging every single salvage item I found, and barely filling my stacks, but then when I went through it just a couple weeks ago, in just the kryta portion, I got 1 1/2 stacks of bones and nearly a full stack of hides and cloth just from drops, and I just sold all my salvage items. Anyone else feel a difference? Ravien Coromana 14:42, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
