Is the word "debuff" ever used in Guild Wars? After editing this for quality, I've realized that it doesn't make any sense, ever. —Tanaric 03:21, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

I don't think I've heard it used in Guild Wars at all. When I think "debuff" in relation to Guild Wars, the only thing that comes to mind is the removal of enchantments. I was looking over the Wikipedia article on buffing and debuffing in relation to MMORPGs. Maybe that could help? --TheSpectator 03:27, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
I hadn't heard it used in Guild Wars either. I'm pretty familiar with the lingo in MMORPGs, which this term clearly originates from, and it doesn't quite seem to fit here. If anyone has ever heard this term in Guild Wars, please respond, or I'm going to tag this for deletion. —Tanaric 03:39, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
While I can't specifically say I've ever heard other people say it, I know I use it all the time. I've always used 'debuff' as any negative condition (the opposite of buff, which are positive conditions). I call enchantments/stances/etc. buffs and hexes/conditions/etc. debuffs. --Dragos 05:53, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
I've never used it in GW, but I know that City of Heroes and City of Villains uses it ('nother mmorpg) and NCsoft has fingers all of the pies so maybe that's where it's springing from. In any case, nothing in GW uses it (or the term buff for that matter) but at the same time I don't see the harm in leaving the article, it's in Slang and Terminology after all. --William Blackstaff 09:41, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Weakness[]

Weakness seems to be a proper debuff now. - Lavvaran 14:43, 4 February 2007 (CST)
