Do Dynastic Spirits roam in outposts?
I've always thought they were a static presence in outposts, but I was just in Remains of Sahlahja (outpost) and saw at least 3 normally static Dynastic Spirits walking about. Does this happen often, or do they get around in the outpost from time to time to 'stretch the old legs' (minus feet), so to speak? Do Ascension Pilgrims do the same or are they another static presence? --Valandil D 08:09, March 19, 2010 (UTC)
- Some Spirits (NPCs in general actually) have a 'patrol', or 'route' (standing still every now and then is part of it). Some always stand still. If you watch them long enough, you'll see them repeating the same sequence over and over. If they didn't, it's likely they would get stuck on geometry and look pretty wonky at some point (say, trying to walk down small cliffs, or getting stuck behind henchmen). I don't pay much heed to them, but I don't recall seeing Pilgrims walking (ironically...). --- -- (contribs) (talk) 14:42, March 19, 2010 (UTC)
- Interesting - further to this, not only will they roam but depending on when you zone back into an outpost, their NPC 'skin' changes between a Woven Armor Monk, a merchant-like figure and a warrior, and probably some others I haven't noticed. --Valandil D 03:47, March 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, that's neat. Was the outpost empty, or were there other people? If it's empty, they are randomly generated server-side every time the district is created. If there's other people in the district and they change looks, the models are different from person to person (which would make little sense to me :P ). --- -- (contribs) (talk) 11:29, March 20, 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think the district was empty, but I could be wrong there. I know there were very few people in there the time I was in there today, and get this... some Ascension Pilgrims have changed places with Dynastic Spirits, and even changed genders. This tells me it's randomly generated server-side per player, but then what does everyone else see? I mean if I see a Woven Armored male Monk, does someone else see a female merchant, or whatever? I wonder does the district have to be empty for them to change around, thus populating the district once someone comes in and seeing them move about only once? Yum.. More food for thought. --Valandil D 11:01, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
