Xunlai Tournament Points (armor upgrades)

Say I wanted to get new armor for PvP characters. If I bought one, would it stay as an option for all future characters (kinda worth it) , or is a (retarded) one time buy?--Ikimono"My beard is thick."Monk-Paragon-icon 15:58, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

What I think it SHOULD be at this point is every armor set added to your HoM should become unlocked for your PvP characters. Other non-elite armor (like Luxon) should be unlocked as soon as one elite set from that campaign is added to the HoM. The only thing preventing something like this from happening is their constant moaning about not having enough people on the team. Bleh. Takes them longer to whine about it than to actually get it done. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG 05:17, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

@DKS01: Personally, I don't give a flying fuck about GvG or HA, but those seem to be the main things people bitch about when they talk about "overpowering of skills." Either that or, in some rare cases, PvE (in the case of Ursanway). Also, what the people complain about really doesn't matter, the imbalancers will do what they want no matter how much you kick and scream. Its pessimistic, sure, but its true. RHSig rede | beiträge 18:12, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
In all seriousness I thought the reason was obvious why people complain most about GvG/HA. (GW-Kiron 03:36, 2 August 2009 (UTC))
That's because it's real PvP? Because they are the only forms of PvP that actually require skill to play? Anyone can run stupid gimmick shit in RA, TA, AB (FA and JQ are more like PvNPC) and HB. Go try it for yourself, look at the balanced teams that roll the stupid gimmicks you see in the lower arenas. King NeoterikosKNsignature 13:53, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't know if by arena you mean just Random Arena and Team Arena, or if you are extending it to include all PvP, Ikimono. If you mean MB dominates all PvP (except HB), I would have to disagree. Spending your elite on energy management as a fire elementalist makes no sense in AB where the battles with humans should last no longer than a minute or two anyway, and the battles with NPC's far less than that. Yes, it has great defense. But that doesn't cap shrines. Flame Djinn's Haste is generally all the defense a fire elementalist needs in AB. So sure, MB is overpowered almost everywhere. But probably not in AB. Lazuli 15:06, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Good eles use MB+Distortion+Flame Dijin's. Just like they do in gvg.--Ikimono"My beard is thick."Monk-Paragon-icon 17:56, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
I prefer a half-decent, low-energy Air spike to a Fire spike any day, mostly because people prepare for the Fire and Earth eles, but rarely the Air or Water eles. I just think people are too sissified to use something like Water or Air...too afraid to get outside of their set paths. Innovation is the bane of any and all PvX builds. Shit, I never look up builds, anywhere, I just make the shit up as I go along. RHSig rede | beiträge 18:42, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
And that works for that extra spot on an AB team (1 monk, 1 nuker, 1 melee, and 1 extra), but it cannot match the speed of Searing Flames or Savannah Heat. So while MB E/Me's can work fine in AB, they are no replacement for a dedicated AoE capper. Lazuli 20:40, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

You're all acting like they can't replace 1 skill on their bar (you know, like res sig) with an AoE skill like Searing Heat. Follow up with Meteor and Rodgort's, in that order, and suddenly you can kill people who would normally just walk out of AoE AND cap shrines. --Macros 22:25, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Actually Air eles have been pretty popular lately- Ride the Lightning spikers are all over the arenas. Felix Omni Signature 22:38, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
...In the last week? If so, I'd blame Colbert for that b/c he devoted an entire segment to Tasers. --ilrIlr d-small(2,Aug.'09)
(edit conflict)@Lazuli: You talk like there's one set type of AB team when in fact I'd be willing to bet that a good 90% of teams in AB are PUG's. Also, healing/prot monks in AB? Where have you been the past 2 years? Almost no one heals or prots in AB, if they're a monk, they're most likely a smiter, usually a beemer. Also, overused skill is overused. RHSig rede | beiträge 22:41, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
You're absolutely right. The majority of AB teams are PUGS, at least by my estimation. I play AB regularly for the Kurzicks. Are you playing for the Luxons? I see more heal/prots than smiters. There was certainly a few weeks when every monk was RoJ. But that time seems to have passed. When I talk about the basic elements of an AB group, I refer to what I feel is ideal. You want someone with AoE to cap fast, you generally want a melee to harass enemy healers or lineback, you probably want a monk or healer of your own to keep your team alive, and the last spot is up for grabs. Some people like rangers or mesmers for that spot. Arguably, overused skill is not as overused as MB in this day and age. This doesn't make it fresh or creative by any means, however, as I will agree that it has been overused in the past. And it's certainly true that you could throw in a heat of some sort, but the amount of people that don't just boggles my mind. Lazuli 00:56, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Figgered you could've told by my page that I'm Kurzick. Also, I've only had one person in three months ask me to run healing on my monk. I don't see it as a very good use of a character as almost everyone brings some form of self-healing, that or they deal so much damage it doesn't really matter, re Three Heats spike or old Palm Strike. Of course, this could stem from my hatred of being relegated to the back and avoiding fights. When I'm in a war, I fight, and I fight to the death. Never give in, never give up! OOH-RAH! RHSig rede | beiträge 01:50, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Apologies for my lack of research. And I share your distaste for monking in AB. Sure, I love monks on my team, but I imagine that monking for a PUG is like herding cats. I will condense my position to just say that I think MB is very powerful in the right situation. AB, in my opinion, isn't where it shines the brightest. Lazuli 02:17, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Healing monks suck horribly in AB compared to a Attuned Was Songkai resto rit. Seriously. And I find that having just 1 player you know along with in a PUG it's SO much easier. His warrior kicks ass and neither of us ever die :) --Gimmethegepgun 03:48, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Healing only monks might suck, but when they are hybrids they are great. And hexes > resto rits. Sure, you could devote your secondary profession to /Mo for Holy Veil or something, but then where do you get IMS or self defense? I guess it comes down to a matter of preference. Lazuli 21:34, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
You are all officially terrible at PvP.--Ikimono"My beard is thick."Monk-Paragon-icon 18:38, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Ey now, bwoy, don't be dissin my skills. I may not be a HA or GvG superstar, but I've kicked more than my share of ass in AB. The only overused or easily-abused skill I've used in all my 3 years of killin would be the new Jesus Beem, but that's just because they killed Signet of Judgment for anyone except melee builds. Other than the Beem, I run whatever builds I want and do damn well if'n I do say so mahself. Of course, my choice of build is also decided by weather or not I'm doing the little z-quest for AB or not, also. RHSig rede | beiträge 19:04, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Self-defense is hardly necessary when you can just heal that much. But yeah, you're right, hexes do own resto rits. Though really the only ones that matter even remotely are the ones that reduce movement speed or attack speed, or cause chances to miss. Everything else really doesn't matter at all, it's just overhealed or countered with Resilient Weapon, turning it into a good thing --Gimmethegepgun 20:20, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

I've got a load of old ones mainly from Aspenwood, let's dig em out. Let's see... Life Barrier on a warrior, Burning Arrow on another war, a war with Charge, Dancing Daggers, and a sword, a dervish with Kindle Arrows and no bow, a warrior with Glimmer of Light and "I Will Survive!", several wars with Divine Intervention, one also had Berserker Stance, a Life Sheath warrior, a necro with Defy Pain, another with Repeating Strike, a war using Renew Life (in ASPENWOOD), a sin and a war with Savannah Heat, a war with Shield Guardian. I'm also of the persuasion that GW2 better be polished to perfection or its doing something that warranted holding off for a fucking year after the initial release. Also, no, they really don't give a shit about GW, and even less about PvE. The only reason they "fixed" Ursanway was because pretty much everyone (except me, because I didn't, and still don't, give a shit) was complaining about how it "broke PvE." Personally, I'd like to see Incendiary Arrows return to its original functionality, or have them implement a Guild Recruiter Spam channel (with punishment for not recruiting there like trading in local) rather than nerfing something that made certain fucking infuriating parts of PvE bearable. It's practically impossible to heal/prot/whateverthefuck anyone outside your group because you have to find out that they need healing/protting/whateverthefucking without a party panel and then actually SELECT them in the field --Gimmethegepgun 17:22, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Remember the Xunlai Market? It was found in the dat but never added to the game. I recently created my third necro (2+ years after I deleted my second necro) so this would be awesome if they ever added it. --Macros 17:58, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
I never played MM, but a minionpanel would probably make my necro into one of my main characters :-) --Lexxor 20:41, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
My necro is my main and I pretty much never MM, that's Livia's job. Curses ftw. ;) RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG 05:33, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

so what from this update shall survive the impending nerf bat?

I predict the new sand shards and armor of sanctity will be the first to get smashed. i just tried them in FA and they are soooo lol uber. on a scythe/earth prayers bar they make you an invincible aoe machine. (GW-Kiron 01:26, 8 August 2009 (UTC))

Beast Mastery Amazingness

These skill updates are awesome. This would make being a beast master fun in pve, and also useful to the team. Now all that's left is adding a flag command so you can move the pet around. I would seriously fellate Anet if they did that. 98.196.84.105 05:42, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

I really don't think Linsey has a phallus anyway... RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG 05:45, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, Izzy might, maybe it was directed at him. DKS01 06:18, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
