Quests[]
For me, the pet tamer and Jingle Bear always spawned during 3Wise, and neither spawned during Charrbroil. And I don't understand how Wintercheer could affect spawns in Ice Cliff Chasms, as none of its objectives are out there - the pet tamer at least should be there. —Dr Ishmael

- Short story: correct/revert my text based on your testing/instinct; I trust that more than I trust my sources.
- Long story: I'm not saying I understand the mechanics of the spawning; I'm only trying to document based on this data:
- Two different people told me that they had done the 2008 quests (and got to see Jingle Bear regularly before this Wintersday),
- Both had spoken to Lt. Thack before venturing out; neither had yet spoken to the 3 NPCs inside eotn.
- Both said they didn't see either pet this year until completing the 2009 quests.
- Both players are reliable testers; they have made verifiable/testable reports in the past (and understand falsifiable hypotheses and other arcana that should make them highly reliable).
- It's possible that both were mistaken about the bear showing up for them (e.g. they got their toons confused). It's also possible that ANet fixed a spawning bug in one of the half-dozen or so updates since Wintersday began. I can't test myself, since I wasn't around for 2008. I'm reluctant to try to force my guild into assisting my efforts to track down the various spawn requirements. - Unfortunately, I've already completed all the quests with every character that had the bear from last year, so I can't test anymore myself. I can verify that the only time the pet tamer does not appear is during Charrbroil (and of course Snowball Dominance, but that's obviously a special instance), I've seen him during both of the other quests.
- In any case, after this Wintersday is over, it won't matter until next Wintersday, when I'll make sure to do some testing on it. I'll change the note to emphasize what we do know, and leave it vague on the other parts. —Dr Ishmael 21:39, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
