Added route form Honur Hill, because i didn't have Yanhur Market at the moment. Munny 03:19, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

Cap not easy[]

To the intrepid Monk: I tried this capture for one solid hour before I got it. I offer the following advice such that you may avoid the dark path I have tread.

This cap is not easy for the following reasons: 1) If you have the wrong build you can forget about slaying this boss, period. 2) The boss has a renewable resurrect. You cannot slay this group by whittling it down. 3) The boss group is big and deals good damage. 4) The boss is a good healer.

The solution I eventually worked out was: DEGEN. One ranger hero with Melan's Arrows, another with Poison Arrow, and an E/Me with Nightmare and Phantasm. Overkill? Took me half a minute to kill the boss. Grab your cap and bail. Kessel 08:13, 4 November 2006 (CST)

I had a little trouble with this boss too, although I got by him setting up my ele/mes (didn't have a mes hero) with Backfire and Diversion. --GTPoompt 04:15, 20 November 2006 (CST)

I used this build, as i always do: 2 sf eles, MM, 2 monk henchies, cynn, devona. Im a warrior myself. Kill the mobs with SF, whack 2 meteor showers on the boss. GG.

I just killed this guy 3 times in 20 minutes. First time, forgot to bring my cap sig. Second time, forgot to switch my secondary. Third time's the charm, I guess. =) — Rapta Rapta Icon1.gif (talk|contribs) 02:24, 31 December 2006 (CST)

He was tough and forced me to fall back first time I came upon him today (I wasn't after the skill, I was just mapping the area and then he went and made things personal). So I skirted round the rocks, killing harpies until Olias had a full set of minions, and then engaged his group when he was the closest target (hopefully getting the minions' aggro). He went down pretty quick that time, without any deaths in my party. RossMM 20:56, 25 January 2007 (CST)

Dazed and Scourge Healing[]

Took less than sixty seconds to bring down the boss. Broad Head Arrow, I think I love you. -- Dashface Dashface.png 23:37, 22 November 2006 (CST)

I managed to do this without dazing, only scourge healing and mesmer/earth magic interrupts. My team- Monk (me), Tahlkora (smiting), Zhed (earth, knock-down skills), Norgu (plenty of interrupts), Devona, Mhenlo, Odurra and Cynn. I tried many times, then as I was waiting for someone to help I decided to give it one last go... Tahlkora and scourge healing made all the difference, killed the boss in maybe 10 seconds. ^^ 17:56, 17 August 2007 (CDT)Leora

Corrupt Enchantments[]

The above methods didn't work for me (I didn't have BHA actually, but ranger interrupts, Melandru's arrows/poison/burning arrows, full set of mesmer dom interrupts, illusion, etc). But what did work amazingly well was this single spell: Corrupt Enchantments. Without both stripping + degen paired at the same time, and applied by a human (not badly done by heroes), Josinq would heal up easily. This is a tough capture for a monk with heroes+hench, since everyone zooms in on the monk (the one human player that's calling targets) and interrupts most casts, so a way to avoid that is handy. --Scyfer

How does bleeding help, looking at his skills all it would seem to achieve is a more powerful heal. If you just want the skill you don't even need to worry about his party, just daze him and the henchmen will kill him in about 10 seconds. Standard tactics for any monk boss. --Mr crow 18:27, 28 November 2006 (CST)

Removed it because your exactly right. 16:00, 6 December 2006 (CST)

Easy Boss[]

My Team was, W/Mo(Me), Mo/E(Hero), Mo/E(Hero), W/Mo(Hero), W/(Hench), Mo/(Hench), E/(Hench), P/(Hench), This boss is extreamly easy if you keep a Ward against melee up at all times on the monks, I killed it in about 30 seconds. :)--~~~~

Consider bringing a mesmer hero with Power Block, made things very easy.--Soulflame 05:15, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Can someone test to see if his unique item affects him? Does daze last less time on him? --Armond Warblade Warrior(talk) 14:00, 5 May 2007 (CDT)

I've nvr heard of a carried item by an enemy actually having an effect on them, but all bosses have half duration of hex/conditions Eric368 01:34, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
Items carried by enemies will affect them, and not all bosses have half hex/condition duration. Only Tyrian Bosses and select others have that inherently.--Kale Ironfist 02:09, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
It's my understanding that a boss with a vampiric weapon will cause life-stealing with their attacks, but as I've never had this occur to myself I can't be certain. RossMM 06:13, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
Sort of related, I was farming kryta with a 55 monk, my display showed life stealing, and one of the skeleton archers dropped a gold bow with the same 5/1 lifesteal mod. I don't think bosses even always use their items, a fair few drop focus items yet wield a staff, hammer-wielding bosses drop shields. — Skuld 06:16, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
Yep being hit by a vamp is a good time to flag the henchies away if you can see who it is :). Im not sure this applies to bosses though.--Blade Smallscout.png (talk|contribs) 06:23, 6 May 2007 (CDT)

Hard mode[]

Are there any tips how to defeat him in hard mode? Seems that it needs a Necromancer with something like Spoil Victor oder Spiteful Spirit. --Warrior's Endurance.jpg numma_cway 16:20, 20 May 2007 (CDT)

BHA + maybe Frustration. --Armond Warblade Warrior(talk) 16:22, 20 May 2007 (CDT)
BHA and Defile Flesh worked pretty well. I also had Norgu, but I can't remember what I had him run... --Carmine 13:43, 19 August 2007 (CDT)
Take a mesmer hero with Power Block, and some form of enchantment removal. Without Healer's Boon, even in HM he'll be casting slow enough for your hero to Power Block some random heal, after which he's completely and utterly helpless. 23:07, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

11 Second Kill[]

Killed him tonight while vanquishing in 11 seconds flat. Two rangers and a MM did most of the work. Basically we dazed him and set the MM hero to lock target on him, then they rushed in and both hit Whirling Defense. With everything beating on him and the amount of damage from two Whirling Defenses and a full compiment of minions it didn't take but maybe 7 seconds to bring him to half heath, at which point both rangers used Needling Shot until he was dead. Timed it at 11 seconds. I don't see what all the fuss is about this guy. --Old Man Of Ascalon 25px-Poiso.jpg (T/C) 02:47, 14 September 2007 (CDT)

Ohh, and BTW, there was only two real people in that group and no one in the party died.--Old Man Of Ascalon 25px-Poiso.jpg (T/C) 02:48, 14 September 2007 (CDT)

Me too...MM and 2 eles did the work in max 15secs. HM, nobody died. --Crusheer 16:36, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Arcane Theivery[]

If going alone, consider bringing heroes with mesmer secondaries and Arcane Theivery/Arcane Larceny. I really don't think boss will heal anything with some (or even all) his skills disabled. Worked for me prefectly (twice), also helped a few of my friends to cap it. Yes, it does have a downside of having rather useless (in other cases) skills on heroes. 16:32, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

and yes, that was me. fR0z3n.S0u1 16:33, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

challenging boss is not challenging[]

What's all this about Josinq the Whisperer being hard in Normal mode, needing Daze, Defile Flesh, Scourge, Power Block, other crap like that? I was doing Goren's Stuff: Part 1, and ran into him unexpectedly (yes, I have never capped Healer's Boon before). I had just finished Dzagonur Bastion (mission) and so my team setup was designed for that, since I was lazy and didn't want to change builds. Thus, I had myself and Jora as Tactics warriors, Master of Whispers as a Minion Master, and Xandra as an Attuned Was Songkai Restoration healer. Henchmen were Mhenlo, Khim, Eve, and Herta/Sogolon (can't remember). Oh, and of course Level 18 Hammer Warrior Goren was there too.

As you can see, no anti-caster or anti-healing skills whatsoever, not even knockdowns. The most that we had was Deep Wound from me and Jora, but surely that is <<<<< any real counters. And yet I steamrolled right through the group, leaving Josinq for last so I could watch him struggle pitifully. I don't know if having that quest active makes him totally weak or something, but he was such a pushover compared to what I had heard about him. It reminded me of how people used to say Coventina the Matron was really hard, and I'd laugh at them and say I used to beat her with just Henchmen easily. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 22:13, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Massive power creep since Nightfall was released, better h/h AI, new skills from EotN. Nothing should be hard in Normal Mode any more. Felix Omni Signature.png 22:16, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't using any skills from EotN except Foul Feast, and that wouldn't make any meaningful difference in this battle (omg spam bleeding!). None of the skills any of the H/H used have gotten significantly stronger since NF was released; in fact, many were nerfed (eg. Shields Up, WY, ZB, Sandstorm...). Better AI wouldn't make a difference since I just killed all the Skree and then Josinq, so if they would just attack that's all I needed. And damage from the skree was never a problem. Alesia could have been Monking for all the difference it would make. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 22:22, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
By the way Felix, you're the one who told me in-game that he was a hard cap. :] Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 22:23, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, and it was hard when I capped it... in 2006. Felix Omni Signature.png 22:49, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Removing HB?[]

[1]. It has 5 recharge (HSR due to Bossiness). Sense. It makes none. --- Ohaider! -- (contribs) (talk) 12:25, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
