How many maps will you put there ?

Or are you going to change it each week ?

TulipVorlax 14:52, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

No idea. I support the second option myself. Or a subpage of (past) locations; I presume he'll cycle. Slowly :P --- Ohaider! -- (contribs) (talk) 14:55, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
I thought of a new map each week. But the supbage is another very good suggestion. Kaede 17:57, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Being unfamiliar with wikis, I'm not sure how to set this up. I think it might be a good idea to redirect the term "Traveler" to this page.
Maybe a table with dates and links to locations similar to the treasure logs? Might be nice to have something similar Cyberhythm 09:16, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Third item under Notes states The items he requests depend on his location' ... This wording is misleading, as the items collected are NOT dependent on location - how many Gloom Seeds drop in The Falls (w/c 25 May)? The items are not even dependent on the chapter Nick is collecting in (e.g. Juni Berrry Branches from NF collected in Factions w/c 4 May). GW-Fantaghiro 05:22, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

I think a note should be added stating that he does not share the "5 gifts per reset" limit with his Pre-Searing counterpart. I've wondered this, and been asked this quite a few times by others. Sunsmoonsig.jpg talk & cont  07:06, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I Have updated the page to say that he moved between 1:30am and 8:30am PST (Pacific Time) if anyone knows the exact time he changes location can you please update this entire section.

Gift Reset Condition[]

Are you able to get 5 new gifts immediately after he resets to a new location? Or do you need to wait 7 days since your last visit to get new gifts? - Kalendraf 9:09, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

You can get 5 new ones at the new location. So, p'haps the limit should be restated to: 5 gifts until NtT moves to a new location.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:56, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Item Difficulty[]

If you haven't noticed yet, they removed Bolts of Linen from the rare material trader for this week. They have also removed plant fiber from material trader (becuase Artisons can craft linen from it). Now i'm gonna have to farm plant fibers T.T boring. -Rølin
It might just be easier to salvage some linen. --Shadowcrest 00:04, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
The rare material traders ran out of linen; the common material traders sold all their fiber. GW traders only stock their goods when characters sell to them; when there's a run on the market, the traders will run out of supplies. (ANet doesn't manipulate the market; we do.) These links might be helpful:
  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:42, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
That could explain why I originally saw Linen in the traders window but when i logged out and back in a few minutes later they were gone. I thought there was some sort of lag in the server. -Rølin
This is interesting. Collecting crafting materials... maybe ANet is trying to drain cash out of the economy. You know that when the week is over, linen's going to cost a ton until supplies are back up. Qing Guang 00:48, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, on the bright side I can make a killing on crafting Linen at Artisons cuase farming The Falls gives me lots of plant fibers. -Rølin
Good luck with that... I tried to sell some of my linen 20 minutes ago and the traders would only give me 180g for them. T_T --Zyanya386 14:05, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

If Nicholas changes where he is and what he says every week... isn't the dialogue section of this page going to get ridiculously long after a few weeks? Maybe that should be moved to a separate page like his past collected items and only the one for the current week could be on the main page. -Zyanya386 09:37, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree with the above. Old dialogue (such as the flower dialogue) should be moved to Nicholas the Traveler/Past Dialogues, which would need to be created. --Slurry. 14:46, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Move time[]

Wait... so does he move at the midnight that begins Sunday or the midnight that ends it? (read: has he moved yet?) Qing Guang 14:17, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

He moves on Sunday night (California time) going into Monday. (read: he's still there :-) The official site said (at one time) that he would move, after the weekend and their announcements typically have used California time. Currently, the official site says, once the Traveler starts roaming, he can appear anywhere, though he'll stay there for a week; thus, the exact time of his move is not well defined. Last week, he disappeared from his old spot around 01:30 PT (Monday) and the first reported discovery at the new one was around 07:30-08:30.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:47, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Prediction Game[]

I don't know if the following is appropriate for this page or not, but I think it could be nice to have some fun. The wiki should have some sort of a weekly prediction of Nick's new location and/or collectible, and the first user to successfully call either of the two would win some special prize (a unique userbox or something). Anybody else think this could catch on? Please don't be too brutal if you don't like the idea :/ Myko Ducor 01:26, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

It's seems obvious the next location will be in Kryta though, so there's not a lot of guessing room, until we see him break the pattern (yeah yeah, 2 isn't much of a pattern) by going somewhere unpredictable. And we still don't know if he will be going cross campaign either. I think we should hold out until a few more spawns to start playing these (if ever) because if he DOES follow a pattern, it would make the game pointless and too easy. Mlandry 01:38, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually, someone was way ahead of you. --Macros 01:49, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
The prediction idea is good, but wikis are a place for information. If prizes were to be set up, it would be on Guru.
Funny whoever thought he'd follow a pattern. "Obviously in Kryta..." lol.
I'm not making fun of you guys. I certainly didn't see this coming, either, and perhaps this breaking of the prospected pattern makes the idea a little better. Good point about the Guru. I just thought some guessing might be a nice touch. Myko Ducor 18:55, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Disregard that last query. Apparently I was farming "Swamp" Mandragor (their names don't say Swamp anywhere in game or on the wiki) and wouldn't drop the right kind of root even if one was to drop. Plus the wiki says they drop the right kind of root needed to make a cake for Nick (since there's two kinds). I can't confirm or deny if said Mandragors drop roots at all...ever, but I can say I farmed them and the area for over an hour in HM with and without a party and never seen a root drop. (RI) I got my 17 roots in 4 runs with H/H in NM. Party size does not affect collectable drops, afaik, and I think you actually get more in NM. My third run through I got 9 roots, my second only one, and like 4 and 3 on the others, so it's really just luck. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.png 06:21, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

I have been going to the southern part of Arkjok Ward. I go straight through the rocks kill a group of tusked howlers and then head south. There are a lot of mandragor just waiting for you. My last NM run netted 4 roots in less than 10 minutes. There may be better places, but this place seems good enough.Bikeboy854 11:58, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Well This sucks... Al I get are those dam Luminous Stones... -- F1Sig.png † F1© Talk 14:16, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
I farmed the central area of Arkjok, that's the only place where you find mandragors, but I tried to get all of them. From the portal, to the southern wall with insect boss, to Nick (killed Mindclouder a few times for fun), then around that loop by the res shrine along the wall heading north towards where the ntouka boss and the elementals are, and to the sunspear sanctuary portal, rezoned there and went back on the same path. There are A LOT of spawns of mandragor in this area, you learn quickly where they pop up. And don't forget to catch the mandragor boss in the middle of the area. I didn't touch the howlers usually, most of them are easy to avoid. The highest concentrations are around the res shrine by Nick, by the mandragor boss in the middle, and just south of the ntouka boss, on those ridges and along the rounded wall. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.png 17:07, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and I only got like 3 luminous stones the entire farm, versus 17 roots. O_o RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.png 17:09, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Very helpful post. Thank you.
My team farmed as a two-unit human group (using, oddly, Me + El). I suspect our multiple runs took about the same amount of time as RoK's full monty farm; we covered Marga portal due East and rezoned frequently (about 8-10 groups of Mandragor triplets). We ended up with 32 roots and probably 15 Lumis (we had a 15-20 min period of no roots and 1 Lumi/triplet).
Re: HM — HM tends to increase the possible types/caliber of drops, so I suspect that RoK is correct in saying that root farming is more efficient in NM.
Re: Loot scaling — Regardless of how scaling is supposed to work, the chatter in Yohlon includes solo and group farmers who get tons of roots and those who get bupkus. So, again, I would agree with RoK: luck apparently plays a bigger factor in successful farming than party composition, mode, or player skill.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:59, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
After my second "run" with full H/H team, i got only 4 roots. :-S — TulipVorlax 15:44, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Inconsistent Move Times[]

I moved this to talk because (a) it cluttered the notes without (b) providing helpful information.

His location and requested item are supposed to change early on Monday morning (Pacific Time). However, the exact time has been inconsistent:
  • His last sighting at his first location was 1:30am PT Monday (26 April); he was first discovered at his new location around 8:30.
  • His last sighting at his second location was 8:15am PT Monday (4 May); he was first discovered at his new location around 8:30.
  • His last sighting at his third location was 8:00am PT Monday (11 May); he was first discovered at his new location around 9:00.

Since we haven't seen anyone from ANet explicitly confirm his move times, all we really know is when he's last spotted at the old site and first spotted at the new site. People have claimed to see him as late as 8:15 am before he left Traveler's Vale and as early as 8:15 in Gwen's Garden. So, for lack of better data, I think the article should stick to "approximate" time rather than claiming a specific one.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 08:55, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I think that ArenaNet never designated a time for him to move. It seems as though he moves whenever the moderator that is in charge of him gets to work. Maybe the change time varries dependant on who is in charge that particular week. -Rølin

Are you aware that if Nick traded for ecto 1:1, the price of ecto would actually go up? Entropy Entropy Sig 2.jpg (C) 07:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Why would they? There are so many ectos in store, and if Nick would trade these for gifts 1:1, the amounts offered would flood the market, thus causing the price to drop. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 08:01, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
The amount of demand would probably be higher Lยкץ๒๏ץ talk 08:26, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
That cant be. I for one have over a 100 ectos in store. I know people who have several stacks, and there are people who have way more then that. I you can trade them in 1:1 there are more ectos then there ever will be pressies. (you can only get 5 per account) Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 08:31, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Ok, there will be enough ecto's to feed everyone. Still the current price is around 4k. You need to have had a serious blow against the head to start selling ecto's for less then that when ecto demand has increased so much. Maybe the price will stay stable, because of all the stacks laying around, but its definatly not going to be 'WTB ecto 1k'. Lยкץ๒๏ץ talk 09:36, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Heh. Chaos Gloves would cost no more than Destroyer Gauntlets... interesting...
On other news, I second Felix. WTB Rune of DOOM = Gifts! A F K sig 2.jpg A F K When Needed 09:49, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Gifts are selling consistently for around 8k. If they were traded 1:1, the price of ecto would thus be brought up closer to 8k. Of course, that depends heavily on where Nick is located...if, for example, he was way down in The Falls like he was for Gloom Seeds, people would charge less for the "collectable" because it's not really the same as a gift, you have to travel far to get them. On the other hand, when Nick is right near outposts like he was for Scales, it's logical to charge around 8k per "collectable". Of course, people are stupid and don't realize the logic behind that, so everyone demands 2k or whatever and that's what the price becomes.
It's true that there are tons of ectos sitting around that no one ever uses. But, there are plenty of people...quite literally, thousands...who don't have any ecto and would be willing to buy them for gifts. Since the standard for ecto is atm around 4k, that would be the starting price for selling them...and it could only go up. I doubt anyone would bother to actually farm ecto just for Nick, since unlike Gloom Seeds it's not something that just any old build can do. Entropy Entropy Sig 2.jpg (C) 03:58, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Just think supply and demand. There's lots of ectos, but not a huge demand for them. What would happen if they became gift item? Well, demand would increase, thus price would increase. Then even after that stopped price would be raised for a while since supply would be significantly lower. 07:47, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
The supply will still overpower the demand. 5 per player, tons of people farming (either for their own gifts or for trading), and the piles of ectos already in the game... Anyways, I don't think they'll ever choose mats for gifts again. --- Ohaider! -- (contribs) (talk) 09:28, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Armbrace tbh... They should really do that.--TalkpageEl_Nazgir 09:39, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

I had like 90 in storage; I use them for spears and Tactics shields, myself, as scythes have a number of other easily collected things. :) You could probably farm these easily in Nundu Bay mission...there are a bunch of Margonites that just sit still, and you can use a hit-and-run strategy pretty easily... not too many of them are linked to Clerics, either. This guy is a pain to the ingame market. was with 50ppl standing in droks. some1 shouted parchment went up +150%! and we all buy out parchment, so if you got this even faster, you are insta-rich cuz you can buy over 100rolls for 100g. and with no balance, because travelers gifts give way less expensive items. Meraida 16:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Don't quite catch the drift of what you're saying there, but I suspect it's irrelevant as parchment is always craftable for 5 wood and 20g --Snograt 16:33, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
And there I was merching stacks of wood just yesterday, but I did keep one, yay me. If anything, he's good for the economy a few days at a time. If you're really hurting that much, just go farm some wood, make parchment, and get insta-rich yourself. But considering you claim to have chaos gloves on every character, I doubt you need it. At least he's not asking for Vellum. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.png 19:45, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
OK , parchment was a bad exemple. i ment stuff like Linen. and : no im not farming wood for some parchment 100g each :p Meraida 19:58, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Didn't think so. ^_^ And even Linen wasn't that bad. As long as the stuff he asks for is craftable, I'm fine with it, though I'd probably not be happy if he wanted some D.Steel for new straps for Yakkington. Once he asks for something that's not craftable, that's when we'll have us a considerable market problem. 20:16, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

The real market pain is to sell it to the merchant... piece by piece *cry* I sold my 5 stacks of parchment to players for the common 99g/ea even when I get 100g or partly 110g from the npc... but clicking over 1000x on Quote and Sell without a script/bot... hell no way -.- --Birchwooda Treehug 01:26, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

U bought 5stacks parchment at 110 at npc then sold it at 99g at players? ur mouse(and ur hand) shoulb be dead now. Meraida 04:35, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

No, I use to get rid of wood that way, I "create" parchment... that way around 5 stacks have summed up over the past year. Well with three accounts 3 stacks are in the storage chest anyway and the other 2 were somewhere in my storage account. Whatever, I sold those stacks that cost me nothing but the wood (which either dropped or I got from salvaging) and 20g/ea to player for less money than I'd get from the NPC trader because it's a pain in the ass to sell it to the NPC roll by roll. I once calc'ed it and came to 50g costs each roll and used to sell them for 70-100g/ea at Guru, so 99g/ea sure is no loss. --Birchwooda Treehug 06:32, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

As for TEFs issue: I don't really see why. I do know how a sysop can, though; Delete the whole article, undelete everything except vandal/rv edits. I don't know how the RevisionDelete tool works, though; I think only Bcrats have that. But, it still seems pointless to delete vandalism. Doing it for one page basically is the first step to deleting vandalism from every article, rather than rv'ing, whilst rv'ing is much faster and convenient (accessible, too). --- Ohaider! -- (contribs) (talk) 17:07, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Link to farming guides[]

@Tenetke: I completely agree with you that this wiki should have a Traveler's Farming Guide that is useful to noobs/mid-level players (as compared to PvX, which tends to assume a full set of skills and specific professions).

  • Could you point to the talk where the added link to a user page was discussed/agreed (as suggested in your update summary)?
  • If we are going to point to a user page from mainspace, shouldn't that page include Category:Users/Open edit articles, encouraging others to contribute?
  • Wouldn't it be better to wait on adding a new link until we have at least a stub of a mainspace article?

Thanks .   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:47, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

On this page a few parts above is what I was referring to. About keeping the link inside the wiki itself. Instead of referring people to pvx, which then sends them to the other wiki if they want to find information out. As for the other points I agree with you. I wanted to add the link though so that people would have the option. Feel free to remove it if you want until we can get other things in place. I read the one on pvx and just didn't like it very much. They sort of assume the player knows where everything is already. I wanted to at least include a few maps and try to give some options. Whatever you think would be best though, just let me know. I want to provide people with an option of staying within this wiki though whenever possible. Spikeicon.png Tenetke Mekko My Talk 06:15, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Erm, I'm still not seeing the discussion that leads to consensus that we have an internal link, let alone one on a user page. So, I've reverted the edit (as you suggested). I've created a stub that we can later link to the Nick article. People can comment/contribute and decide if an internal guide is worthwhile. Will that work for you?   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 07:07, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Sure that works. Unless anyone is opposed to it, me and you seem to be the only two discussing it with any detail I say we go ahead and point to the page. I am glad you started one. I am not sure if you know but there was already a fair bit of discussion about the previous weeks but they took place on different talk pages instead of here. If you would change the link, or do like I did and list the two possible links, we can discuss things on the stub talk page. It will be nice to have a few different people contributing on what builds/areas are best for it. Also on that talk page we can discuss the option of having an archive for each week, or simply deleting one week in order to create a new week. Spikeicon.png Tenetke Mekko My Talk 16:54, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I've restored the PvX link for two reasons: (1) it's still useful (providing different information) and (2) this wiki's guide is still a work-in-progress and (until more pppls are aware of it) slower to get updated. Is it alright if we wait for some more active contributors before severing the ties with our sister wikia?   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:21, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
I have no problem at all with the way you have it now. I wanted to provide both as possible. People are welcome to use either. I wanted ours to be up there too, because if no one knows it is there they can't contribute. Though some of their information is kind of off. I don't contribute there so not really up to me to fix it or add. The main reason I didn't like linking to theirs is that if they follow a link from that page it takes them to the official wiki. I have no problem with them, other than they are kind of slow on some things, but it is a bit confusing for our users to have to go back and forth. It is easier, at least for the people I have talked to in game, to simply stay on the site. They seem to be happy with the current page we have. I get asked for info quite often because I make a fair bit of money selling the farmed items. I just give them the address to this one. The problem came in that they would goto the nicholas page, that would take them to pvx, then to the official wiki if they clicked on a link. Anyway the way it is now is great. Quests like that are known to have interrupted his appearance, such as the Hallowed Point ones, because they seem to override what spawns in particular areas, and Nick probably has too low priority and ends up not spawning (just my guess). Just abandon it, it's easy to get again from Glint's Vision. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.png 17:14, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Keep in mind that the screen shot is in german, and ranger in german might not start with an R. My guess is that it starts with a W. So what you might think is warrior could well be the german spelling for ranger. -MAL wiki sig.PNG 05:47, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

noob question about drops[]

Is the game still reducing certain drops in the area if u farm with the same character over & over again like back in 07? I've yet to see a b.hide, but i've gotten plenty of heket tongues so far ;( ~~GW-Saikano

You might want to kill Behemoths rather than Heket ;)
Anyhow, I don't know much about loot mechanisms, except that when every active player is in the same area, drops blow. I'd suggest going to a different area to kill Behemoths. --- VipermagiSig.JPG -- (contribs) (talk) 12:10, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, drops do decrease. If your character has been in this area doing normal quests etc., you will start with a lower drop rate than a character who played other areas for a while. And the more you farm, the worse it gets. Try switching between different zones that have behemoths, preferably as far as possible from each other. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.png 18:25, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
In all the time I've been farming for Nick, I've never noticed a reduction in drop rates for items-of-the-week. (In fact, I rec'd more behemoth hides after Nick requested them than I did one day earlier, when he still wanted soup. Similarly, Djinni gave up more essence per encounter during Nick week than since.) I am sure that rates for certain items are affected by overfarming, but either I'm an exception or it doesn't apply to trophies (or perhaps common/white items generally).
For the record, to test this exact proposition, I have farmed repeatedly in heavily visited areas on various different days of the week and various times. The rates for nick-requests have been consistent. That said, anyone having completed Stats 101 will know that a single person couldn't possible farm enough to provide enough data.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:38, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
It may be that loot scaling actually helps increase the trophy drop rates. If the trophies are exempt from loot scaling, then a decrease in normal loot would increase the chances of your drop being a trophy instead of something that was scaled down. When I farmed weekend drops from vaettir, I didn't really see any changes in glacial stone drops, one way or another. I did see a change in holiday and other drops. But again, TEF's last sentence is golden. RoseOfKali RoseOfKaliSIG.png 21:37, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

solid input so far. It'd be easier on me if they posted a message on my chat bar like in the past. I got a green chat message saying something like "repeated farming of area has resulted in you robbing the monsters blind. Please do something else & let these poor monsters rebuild their fortune." I should have taken a screenshot of it. lol ~~GW-Saikano

Are you sure it wasn't a game hint, rather than a chat message? I recall Progger getting a similar message. --- VipermagiSig.JPG -- (contribs) (talk) 00:56, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

You're probably right. It's been a while. At lest you're confirming that a message of some kind did actually pop up & that I'm not crazy for remembering something like this ~~GW-Saikano

Yeah, I remember that hint box too. You know, Anet said they removed the less-drops-for-repeated-farming thing in the same update they added loot scaling. I'm pretty sure they lied, and all they really did was remove the hint for it so it wouldn't be obvious it was happening. Oh, and trophies like Behemoth hides are not exempt from loot scaling. --Macros 19:14, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
My personal experiences which mean very little statistics-wise will refute that statement. While I noticed a sharp drop-off in loot quantity and quality while solo farming for Mandragor Roots long time ago, the trophies themselves continued to drop at a pretty consistent rate. Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 17:29, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Mine too Entropy, as seen by the screen shots I posted. While its just one person, and not statistically relevant it does show that i was getting lots more drops than people in groups. Take the tusks that are needed now. I have screen shots showing me getting 2 and 3 drops in a group. When I did this with other people we were getting about the same amount but it was divided over the entire group instead of just me. Needless to say I switched back to solo farming. It would seem like taking a full group would net you more drops if loot scaling were in effect. That just isn't how it worked. Again that isn't enough to be statistically relevant, but go with what works for you. Though if you look at the screen shot you can see they drop pretty frequently already, so I didn't see the challenge in farming them. Spikeicon.pngTenetke 23:24, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Advanced solo farmers may now earn about twice as much gold and common loot from farming solo as they would if they farmed in a party. Quoted from Loot#Loot_scaling. See there for details, it's not secret. --◄mendel► 18:45, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

There always seems to be 2 sides to this story, lol. After checking out the Official & Unofficial Guild Wars sites~ Official GW Web Sites: Loot Scaling ( does effect TROPHIES/WHITES/COMMONS. Anti-Farm Code is still in effect ( Although the Jade have been dropping bracelets like there's no tomorrow, I'll take the Official GW statement for now. --~~GW-Saikano

Without scaling, one soloist would get as much loot as a max group (8 players); with scaling, it takes 4 soloists to generate the same loot. So, although the soloist is hurt by scaling (75% reduction), they should still see twice as many Nick-related drops as those who farm in large groups. That's the single, consistent story across the two articles and Gaile's quote (repeated above by Mendel). →→ If you can, reduce your party size to farm for Nick to increase your efficiency.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:51, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Guild Wars Wiki may be the official wiki, but information there is no more or less "official" than information posted here, unless it was posted by ArenaNet employees in their official capacity.
The last systematic loot research I know of was undertaken by Arnout (see here), and, although he didn't look for anti-farming specifically (i.e. diminishing returns on repeated runs), I'm sure he would have noticed if that had happened. --◄mendel► 04:52, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Mendel, how nice of you too remeber my research! (although it doesn't really deserve that name ;-0) And no, I did not notice diminishing returns. And with 3*45 runs (plus the extra's caused by screw ups) I should have noticed if it had been there.I still have the results, I can share 'em if you like. The only time I ever saw a real drop back in loot was while perma bombing veattir. And that was the only time I ever got a hint like that too. Hope this clears things up. Ya, already did as in guide for Turai's and the Cavern, but I've done about 10 runs for 1 essence, not getting 1 essence per run by any means (4-man party). Will try First City, tho. Oh, and I would sign this, but Wiki is not letting me AGAIN--keeps changing my uppercase sign in to lower case, and then saying I don't exist. Happens over and over again.
Oh. It's one essence per run per party, not per person. So, in group of 4, would take 4 runs for each player to get one. I'll update the guide accordingly.
