Item Difficulty
If you haven't noticed yet, they removed Bolts of Linen from the rare material trader for this week. They have also removed plant fiber from material trader (becuase Artisons can craft linen from it). Now i'm gonna have to farm plant fibers T.T boring. -Rølin

The rare material traders ran out of linen; the common material traders sold all their fiber. GW traders only stock their goods when characters sell to them; when there's a run on the market, the traders will run out of supplies. (ANet doesn't manipulate the market; we do.) If Nicholas changes where he is and what he says every week... isn't the dialogue section of this page going to get ridiculously long after a few weeks? He moves on Sunday night (California time) going into Monday. (read: he's still there :-) The official site said (at one time) that he would move, after the weekend and their announcements typically have used California time. Currently, the official site says, once the Traveler starts roaming, he can appear anywhere, though he'll stay there for a week; thus, the exact time of his move is not well defined. It's seems obvious the next location will be in Kryta though, so there's not a lot of guessing room, until we see him break the pattern (yeah yeah, 2 isn't much of a pattern) by going somewhere unpredictable. And we still don't know if he will be going cross campaign either. Anyone else having trouble getting roots to drop? I've tried solo NM & HM, with heros & without. Roughly 10-12 runs farming Tarom Rockbreaker and his mandragor buddies but I'm getting nothing. Disregard that last query. Apparently I was farming "Swamp" Mandragor (their names don't say Swamp anywhere in game or on the wiki) and wouldn't drop the right kind of root even if one was to drop. Plus the wiki says they drop the right kind of root needed to make a cake for Nick (since there's two kinds). I can't confirm or deny if said Mandragors drop roots at all...ever, but I can say I farmed them and the area for over an hour in HM with and without a party and never seen a root drop. I have been going to the southern part of Arkjok Ward. I go straight through the rocks kill a group of tusked howlers and then head south. There are a lot of mandragor just waiting for you. My last NM run netted 4 roots in less than 10 minutes. There may be better places, but this place seems good enough.Bikeboy854 11:58, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
I farmed the central area of Arkjok, that's the only place where you find mandragors, but I tried to get all of them. From the portal, to the southern wall with insect boss, to Nick (killed Mindclouder a few times for fun), then around that loop by the res shrine along the wall heading north towards where the ntouka boss and the elementals are, and to the sunspear sanctuary portal, rezoned there and went back on the same path. There are A LOT of spawns of mandragor in this area, you learn quickly where they pop up. And don't forget to catch the mandragor boss in the middle of the area. I didn't touch the howlers usually, most of them are easy to avoid. The highest concentrations are around the res shrine by Nick, by the mandragor boss in the middle, and just south of the ntouka boss, on those ridges and along the rounded wall. My team farmed as a two-unit human group (using, oddly, Me + El). I suspect our multiple runs took about the same amount of time as RoK's full monty farm; we covered Marga portal due East and rezoned frequently (about 8-10 groups of Mandragor triplets). We ended up with 32 roots and probably 15 Lumis (we had a 15-20 min period of no roots and 1 Lumi/triplet).
Re: HM — HM tends to increase the possible types/caliber of drops, so I suspect that RoK is correct in saying that root farming is more efficient in NM.
Re: Loot scaling — Regardless of how scaling is supposed to work, the chatter in Yohlon includes solo and group farmers who get tons of roots and those who get bupkus. Inconsistent Move Times
I moved this to talk because (a) it cluttered the notes without (b) providing helpful information.
His location and requested item are supposed to change early on Monday morning (Pacific Time). However, the exact time has been inconsistent:
His last sighting at his first location was 1:30am PT Monday (26 April); he was first discovered at his new location around 8:30.
His last sighting at his second location was 8:15am PT Monday (4 May); he was first discovered at his new location around 8:30.
His last sighting at his third location was 8:00am PT Monday (11 May); he was first discovered at his new location around 9:00.
Since we haven't seen anyone from ANet explicitly confirm his move times, all we really know is when he's last spotted at the old site and first spotted at the new site. People have claimed to see him as late as 8:15 am before he left Traveler's Vale and as early as 8:15 in Gwen's Garden. "unlucky" run gave me 2 seeds, 2 shards and a FoW scroll (cleared spider cave entrance aswell) and a lucky run gave me 7 seeds and a sapphire (no spider's we're harmed during this run). Perma Dagger sin can do that run aswell, but its nice to also be able to kill some spiders at a nice speed to make your 1k back if needed. I used this:

No, I'm not. They slap -10 degen on you and use Blood Ritual on each other, which leads to them eventually hitting me with GB. You can only spam Lion's Comfort so often. But it doesn't matter, I just used something else...

Ok, there will be enough ecto's to feed everyone. Still the current price is around 4k. You need to have had a serious blow against the head to start selling ecto's for less then that when ecto demand has increased so much. Gifts are selling consistently for around 8k. If they were traded 1:1, the price of ecto would thus be brought up closer to 8k. Of course, that depends heavily on where Nick is located...if, for example, he was way down in The Falls like he was for Gloom Seeds, people would charge less for the "collectable" because it's not really the same as a gift, you have to travel far to get them. On the other hand, when Nick is right near outposts like he was for Scales, it's logical to charge around 8k per "collectable". Of course, people are stupid and don't realize the logic behind that, so everyone demands 2k or whatever and that's what the price becomes.
It's true that there are tons of ectos sitting around that no one ever uses. But, there are plenty of people...quite literally, thousands...who don't have any ecto and would be willing to buy them for gifts. Since the standard for ecto is atm around 4k, that would be the starting price for selling them...and it could only go up. I doubt anyone would bother to actually farm ecto just for Nick, since unlike Gloom Seeds it's not something that just any old build can do. Entropy (C) 03:58, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Just think supply and demand. There's lots of ectos, but not a huge demand for them. What would happen if they became gift item? Well, demand would increase, thus price would increase. I had like 90 in storage; I use them for spears and Tactics shields, myself, as scythes have a number of other easily collected things. :) You could probably farm these easily in Nundu Bay mission...there are a bunch of Margonites that just sit still, and you can use a hit-and-run strategy pretty easily... not too many of them are linked to Clerics, either. I go for 15^50 scythes. Demonic Relics can't be turned in for any useful items, so I always sell them. Then again, I have a very large collection of collectibles. This guy is a pain to the ingame market. was with 50ppl standing in droks. some1 shouted parchment went up +150%! and we all buy out parchment, so if you got this even faster, you are insta-rich cuz you can buy over 100rolls for 100g. and with no balance, because travelers gifts give way less expensive items. No, I use to get rid of wood that way, I "create" parchment... that way around 5 stacks have summed up over the past year. Well with three accounts 3 stacks are in the storage chest anyway and the other 2 were somewhere in my storage account. Whatever, I sold those stacks that cost me nothing but the wood (which either dropped or I got from salvaging) and 20g/ea to player for less money than I'd get from the NPC trader because it's a pain in the ass to sell it to the NPC roll by roll. I once calc'ed it and came to 50g costs each roll and used to sell them for 70-100g/ea at Guru, so 99g/ea sure is no loss. --Birchwooda Treehug 06:32, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
