Drain Enchantment? Hex Breaker?![]

From the article:

Spike Ranger (massive single shot damage - uses mesmer skill Drain Enchantment and possibly Hex Breaker)

I can't make sense of this. Drain Enchantment removes an enchantment but deals no damage. Hex Breaker is a defensive stance! How can these skills be used to spike? Perhaps the author meant to say Shatter Enchantment and Shatter Hex/Shatter Delusions instead? — Deldda Kcarc 19:07, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

hmmm the point of Drain Enchantment would be to get the target rid of something like shielding hands before starting a ranger spike I would guess, but hex breaker, lol. Feel free so write something better =) --Xeeron 04:33, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
I see hex-breaker a lot on ranger spikers, and it is a real pain for folks using Blurred Vision and such. Blurred Vision is a nice way to try to reduce ranger accuracy, shadow of fear and such slow down the RoF, making timing a spike harder, I'm assuming it's effects like that that they wish to avoid. --Epinephrine 01:38, 18 March 2006 (CST)
I also agree it should be Shatter Enchantment as Hex Breaker and Drain Enchantment are Domination and Inspiration, respectively. Given that a R/Me has pts in Expertise, Marksmanship, and possibly Wilderness Survival, spreading pts over 5 attributes weakens the entire build.
I have a 4 attribute W/Me while farming with a superior strength rune and his 4 attributes are, from memory, 12, 11, 11, 7.
I'll say an average Domination skill for a Ranger/Mesmer would be 7 or 8. For this example, it'll be 8. If they had the chance to use Shatter Enchantment on a foe and if that same foe uses hexes, and if they happened to use one on that Ranger while Hex Breaker is up, and if this all happened at almost the same time, the combined damage would be 89. Thats a lot of ifs for such a little amount of damage. --Gares Redstorm 02:06, 18 March 2006 (CST)
The point of hex breaker isn't to add to the damage, but instead to protect against a hex. --Epinephrine 02:09, 18 March 2006 (CST)
Agreed, but he said "Ranger/Mesmer is also a very common combination in PvP as it is used for the Spike Ranger (massive single shot damage - uses mesmer skill Drain Enchantment and possibly Hex Breaker)". --Gares Redstorm 02:26, 18 March 2006 (CST)
