Since it is not economically viable to buy these instead, has anyone tested whether you're more likely to salvage rare materials?
- From the update notes it appears that you're no more likely to salvage better stuff. The reason I like them is that you take up one inventory slot instead of 4 for 100 salvages/identifications. --Rainith 22:01, 9 Sep 2005 (EST)
- You don't have to carry 4, you can just buy them one at a time. :) Never in all my adventuring have I used a full ID kit or a full Expert kit in one exploration. On average, I use about 10-15 salvages and 5-7 IDs. Yes, I do run out of uses sometimes, but it is not worth paying 400 gold extra. :P --Karlos 23:31, 9 Sep 2005 (EST)
- Ah, I guess you've never gone solo charr hunting in Flame Temple Corridor, I've used 2 full salvage kits on just the salvage items there. Personally I think they're worth it, but I wouldn't mind it if they dropped the price. --Rainith 17:23, 10 Sep 2005 (EST)
- Indeed, if you only carry one kit, you at LEAST need to watch it and make sure it's not running low. When it is, I get another one -- using up two slots. With the Superior, I don't need to be carrying two kits as often. I'm not totally sold on the Superiors, but I also assume they wanted to make it a gold sink for the economy. --JoDiamonds 02:02, 28 October 2005 (EST)
- I too had the impression that you were more likely to slavage items using a superior salvage kit than an expert kit. Is there any specific information available concerning this that could be consulted? --Healer Monk
- From the update notes when the Sup salvage kit was released: Added Superior Salvage Kits and Superior Identification Kits, which are the same as Expert Salvage Kits and Identification Kits except with 100 charges instead of 25. --Rainith 10:45, 9 March 2006 (CST)
- Granted, they've misreported themselves before... --Carmine 16:11, 21 October 2006 (CDT)

i also heard from other players that superior salvage has a better chance to get more materials when salvaging but i havent tested as im too poor to afford all those salvage kits :(...but(believe me or not)i was going to salvage a weapon from the shiverpeaks and i do remember accidently salvaging the item with my superior and got something like 10 iron ingots instead of my usual 7 or so that i get with expert or maybe i just got lucky at that time...who knows ;P
- I get rare crafting materials when I use the Superior Salvage Kit. Giangn626 23:06, 24 March 2007 (CDT)
Big surprise...
The merchant in front of tombs does not sell superior salavage kits. 76.69.17.198 04:09, November 15, 2009 (UTC)
