After discussion here i re-designed the template so it doesn't stick out so much. I can change the icon size if anyone thinks it needs to be increased. I made it as close to text height size as i could without it turning into a blob. -- Xeon 14:02, 20 June 2007 (CDT)
- this template is WAY overused. some standard should be applied, as category:bugs has almost 300 articles. --Honorable Sarah

- Whats wrong with having so many bug templates when there are that many bugs? -- Xeon 09:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- a lot of them aren't bugs in the sense this template was designed to convey. some of them are simply skill anomolies, or occur so rarely as to be meaningless. --Honorable Sarah

Box around tag[]
I reverted the change to the template, per the discussion both above, as well as the linked discussion at Template talk:ErrorText. To re-add the red box (which is very intrusive IMHO), a new discussion should be started to see if consensus has changed. Personally, I could agree with increasing the size of the icon so it can be recognized ... but the big red box is ugly and unnecessarily intrusive to the articles where it's used. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 02:20, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- If the image were big enough to bump the next note down to the next line, I'm ok with that. I personally like the red box, because I don't find it overly intrusive and encompasses the entire bug, regardless of how big the note is. However if the image could accomplish the same effect then fine. I found ErrorText hideous because the image was glaringly obvious to me. :P --Shadowcrest 02:36, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- I doubt the currently used image could be bumped up much; but this template originally used
which was bigger and easier to recognize. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 02:47, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- But that ones so ugly ^^, lol
- Well, that would work. But on pages like this one, unless I'm paying close attention I'd have to go back and relook at the tag to find out where it ended. This could be solved by moving the tag to the bottom of the notes (which I keep suspecting is the standard way to do it anyway), but if we were to move the tags to the bottom of the section in most cases the current un-boxed template is fine as it is. --Shadowcrest 02:54, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- I liked it better with the red box that it used to have. But when I put it back I still didn't really like the way it looked. Either, whenever I look at it, it jumps out at me and i cringe with how awkward it looks. What about something like...

Bug: Followed by a description of a bug. This way we have the template falling in with other notes but it stands out enough that it is recognized a distinct bug.
(idk why the image looks odd resized. probably needs to be a png or something.) —♥Jedi♥Rogue♥ 03:04, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

- Not to be negative, but I really liked the cute round bug much better.

Template design[]
If the template is not going to span the whole width, then it should have at least a border around it. If it is not going to have a border, then it should span the whole width. Discuss. -User:PanSola (talk to the ) 00:16, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- I preferred the border. How would it span the whole width without a border (how would it look)? --Shadowcrest 00:17, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- Coming in a month late again, but I agree with Pan that we need to remove the width limitation, both here and on Template:Anomaly. It looks extremely odd and jarring for these notes to only span half the page. I'm adding a Template talk check right now to remove User and Talk pages from the bug category, so I'll go ahead and remove the width as well to see how we like that. —Dr Ishmael

- Third,
- This is much better - I didn't look at it before I made the change, but just imagine the bug on The Great Northern Wall (mission) in half the width (or less, depending on your resolution). I'll go remove it from Anomaly now. —Dr Ishmael
