Is there a template for use when something cost just plat? Or can you use this one in some way? ― Stylva 10:30, 21 August 2006 (CDT)

i'll write a usage section. check back in 20 minutes. --Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon.gif 11:16, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
It will still show the gold icon when I type {{CostP|15|}}, which isn't really nice. ― Stylva 11:31, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
i'm working on a new template that will fix that, but it might take a bit. --Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon.gif 11:33, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
consider 15{{plat}} 15Platinum--Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon.gif 11:34, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
Yes, but when it costs 1 P it gets ugly in a table, since the 1 P cost will be to the left, and the rest to the right.
We could also name the new template CostP, since it will only cost P. Then the only G template is named CostG. And the both template may be named CostPG or CostGP. Sounds like the most logical, but also the most complicated option to me.

for now, use {{plat}} and {{gold}}. i'm working on a general cost template that will understand zero, but my template syntax is... imperfect at best. --Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon.gif 11:40, 21 August 2006 (CDT)

I guess that I don't understand the problem here - can someone explain? Here's a table showing the templates that are currently available. What is not working with them? Can someone show me an example? If I can understand the issue better, I may be able to assist. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 14:57, 21 August 2006 (CDT)

template:cost is brand new as of today, i think the others align right are the beheviour they're looking for. i was hoping the generalized cost template could replace both costP and costG --Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon.gif 15:02, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
oh, wait - I see that the template:cost is newly added, so maybe that already resolves whatever problem was being seen? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 15:03, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
hopefully, i want to replace both costP and costG with a template that understands zero gold, i've succeeded, and chose to leave the align right out because that should be in the table, not the template --Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon.gif 15:06, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
If I remember right, the align right was part of the reason the templates were created in the first place. To align left, using a template isn't much easier than just using the {{plat}} and {{gold}} templates. Once aligned right, it was seen as preferred to keep a zero for gold, just to keep all prices formatted the same when in a table (a plat and a gold icon). Otherwise, some items with just a plat icon looked out of place on a list that had other items with both a plat and gold amount. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 15:29, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
50 Gold
1 Platinum 50 Gold
1 Platinum
Hey, that looks terrific! Thanks a lot, and great job! Although, as Barek says, with the new template it looks the same as if I use the gold and platinum templates. The reason why I use the templates, is that it's a much easier way to align the text to the right, and there is also more space between the numbers and the gold/platinum icons in the old templates.

Just a quick post before I get back to work. Barek is correct in why it was created the way it was. I originally made this specifically for the merchant tables and wanted to align everything nice and even (I also believe that in the game things are listed as 1Platinum 0Gold, but I may be wrong). I expanded the notes section a little bit to explain that. --Rainith 16:29, 21 August 2006 (CDT)

Just as a note, I altered the whole Cost-template to add sanity checking. Just noticed that it has a problem with 0 platinum though, but that won't be in a few moments. — Galil Ranger 16:04, 27 August 2006 (CDT)
