The Temple of War is a mighty fortress found in the center of the Fissure of Woe. It is the home of the Eternal Forgemaster (thus is sometimes called The Forge) and is the core of the presence of the forces of Balthazar in the Fissure.

The Temple has two entrances, each is locked until triggered by the appropriate event. The northern gate will open once the group of Shadow Monks and Shadow Mesmers outside it have been destroyed. The southern gate will open after the quest Defend the Temple of War is successfully completed.

Freeing the Temple of War from the Shadow Army and restoring it to operation presents a set of quests (see below) inside the Fissure, after which the Forgemaster will be able to craft Obsidian Armor for those that can afford it.

The northern exit of the temple leads to the Great Battle Field and the southern exit leads to a crossroads that can take players to the Spider Cave (southwest), the Lake of Fire (southeast) or the Tower of Strength (east).
