The Frog is a very wise amphibian who could be described as an oracle. Periodically, ArenaNet staff members use him as a way to speak to the community. Sometimes they release tidbits of information about future updates of the game. He even replies when being addressed (provided an ArenaNet developer is "logged in" as The Frog). The Frog most often appears in the International District in Kamadan.
The Frog's words, often in rather cryptic riddles, appear in golden font in the public channel.
It is unconfirmed whether or not Gaile Gray controls The Frog all of the time because she often appears when The Frog does. Neither will confirm or deny this claim. However, in one Frog session, she was accusing The Frog of being late, and sent a message as herself instead of The Frog, proving she did control The Frog at that time. It also appears that Liana Briarwater and Knight Goliath controls The Frog at times, as they have been seen speaking as The Frog during a Frog session, but via their own characters with the standard staff purple text.
Other Locations
The Frog can also be spotted in a number of other places around Kryta.
- Gates of Kryta (outpost): on the small hill with a wagon on it near the henchmen, crawling out of the ground and running in a straight line before digging in again.
- Lion's Arch: ontop the hill and by the tree next to the Xunlai Agents, croaking and hopping along.
- Sanctum Kay (mission): About halfway upstream the first river, where a number of Undead patrols circle, The Frog can be spotted burrowing in and out of the ground.
