Summary[ | ]

The Third Birthday Celebration is an in-game event held from April 25 to April 29, 2008, celebrating the third birthday of Guild Wars. This event marks three years since Guild Wars Prophecies was released, two years since Guild Wars Factions was released, and 1.5 years since Guild Wars Nightfall was released.

Characters (not accounts) reaching 3 years of age will find a Third Year Birthday Present in their inventory, which will contain a random Miniature from the third birthday series.

Festival games will be accessible from Lion's Arch, Shing Jea Monastery, Kamadan, and the Great Temple of Balthazar. Fireworks displays will light up the skies every hour in those locations.

  • Beginning at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Friday, April 25, 2008, players will be able to access the Rollerbeetle Racing and Dragon Arena outposts by speaking with special event NPCs located in the Great Temple of Balthazar, Lion's Arch, Kamadan, and Shing Jea Monastery.
  • Beginning at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Friday, April 25, 2008, players will be able to access the Boardwalk in Shing Jea Monastery.
  • This event has concluded and all special event NPCs left at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Tuesday, April 29, 2008.
  • The fireworks displays started and Birthday Cupcakes began dropping as soon as the update for this event went live, which was around 1 PM Pacific on Thursday, April 24, 2008.

Birthday Cupcakes

  • Have "some extra qualities that are certain to make you smile. But we doubt these treats will make the vile creatures of Tyria, Cantha, and Elona happy. This is a sugar rush with a vengeance."
  • Cupcakes grant +100 maximum health, +10 maximum energy, and 25% increased movement speed for 10 minutes. They cannot be used in PvP.
  • They are available as random drops and from Zaishen Supply Masters in exchange for 10 Victory Tokens.
  • They count 2 points towards Sweet Tooth

Birthday Cupcakes began dropping as soon as the update for this event went live, which was around 1 PM PDT on Thursday 24 April 2008.
