Stubs[edit | edit source]

A stub is used for an incomplete article. Removing a stub is based on the below criteria.

  1. A complete BeastInfo box.
  2. A description.
  3. Complete list of locations where the beast can be found.
  4. A thorough list of specific items dropped.
  5. Complete list of categories including species, profession, and all locations.

For boss stubs, the additional information is needed before a boss stub can be removed:

  1. A map showing the location of the bosses spawn point(s) or a detailed text description of the location(s).
  2. Signet of Capture(SoC) confirmation posted on the talk page of the boss. For example: SoC confirmed - username/date

Guidelines[edit | edit source]

Sections[edit | edit source]

Location box[edit | edit source]

This box should have the basic info for the explorable area, including the picture from the world map, the campaign, the type of location (Explorable Area), region where are is located, and all the areas that you can get to by exiting this area.

General Information[edit | edit source]

Summary consisting of details of the landscape, the area’s cardinal or ordinal location in the region, generalization of species of monsters found in area, etc.

Exits[edit | edit source]

List the areas to which you can exit plus the general direction to which the exit can be found, separating them into subtitles Towns and Explorable Areas. If a subtitle would be empty, for example no town exits, then the Town subtitle should be omitted. If any exits have certain requirements (quests/missions that must be completed first, quests that must be active, etc...) make note of that after the exit area's name in parenthesis.

Objects/Points of Interest[edit | edit source]

List all God's statues or shrines in no particular order, but keeping in mind to list shrines of the same type together. The cardinal/ordinal direction gives a sense of where the shrine is located. If NPCs located at these shrines offer any special activites, such as Nightfall hunts/bounties, they should be noted in parenthesis next to the shrine location.

Point of Interests are to be put in no particular order and just the name will suffice. The article on that place will have it’s own additional information regarding it. Example: Qi Falls.

NPCs[edit | edit source]

List all the NPCs found in the explorable area. Listing in priority: Collectors, Merchants/Traders/Crafters, Various. NPCs should be listed alphabetically first by type then alphabetically by their name. The only exception being the Merchants should be listed before Traders and Crafters. Various NPCs include those all NPCs that are not collectors or merchants. This includes NPCs with no purpose, quest givers, those involved in a quest, priests located at shrines, etc. Any NPC that only appears under certain conditions, such as quests, should be noted as such in parenthesis.

Creatures[edit | edit source]

Separated into subsections: Monsters, Bosses, and Pets (if applicable).

Monsters and Bosses should first have the heading of the species. Enemies should be listed in alphabetical order of profession, i.e. {{a}}, {{d}}, {{e}}, {{mo}}, {{me}}, etc. . Levels should be documented for each enemy after the profession then the name. Bosses should be the only enemies with Elites documented. Enemies that only appear during certain events, such as quests, should be listed as so in parenthesis.

Quests[edit | edit source]

An included link to the explorable area's quest page should go here if there is one, or a list in the form of Character name: Quest name if there is no separate quest page. If no quests are given in this explorable area, this section should be omitted. If a particular quest is a primary quest, note it in parenthesis after it.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Any other notes can be added here. If there are no notes, this section should be omitted.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Trivia notes can be added here. Omit if this section is empty.

Categories[edit | edit source]

All the categories must be listed right at the bottom. For each explorable area, two categories are expected: a category for the region it is in (such as Category:Cormyr), and the location type within a campaign (such as Category:Explorable Areas (Forgotten Realms).

Example of syntax in action[edit | edit source]

This is not apart of the exploration area style and formatting guide, but an example. I copied an area and used its likeness for this guide.
