My Characters[]
Here they are. You can click on their name for more info on that character, such as background, favourite weapon or build used.
You can also use the side menu on the left to pick each of them.
If you want to know how their english name is if translated, just hover on their respective picture with your mouse.
Personal in game achievements[]
They do not necessairly reflect an in game title. Many are personal objectives that I set and want (or wanted) to achieve, some are present in game as titles, but all have been done for challenge and fun. Especially for fun.
Visitor of Cities (16/16)
Shining Blade Legend (16/16)
Shining Blade Survivor (1/1)
Why i love this game[]
There are lots of things that make this game unique and oustanding.
- First of all the class system. Having a secondary class leaves you open to tons of different playstyles, and has an unmatched ability to make every class useful and versatile, often balancing weakness on your class, or increasing further its strenghts.
- Second thing: the build system. Tons and tons of viable combos to experiment, tons of ideas to try and perfect. It gets even better when you manage to find an "unusual" but effective build. I never stop to enjoy myself when i meet a "Necros can't use swords, Monks can't melee" or similar restricted type of person to play with and show him it's feasable, fun and effective most of the time. I don't need a cookie cutter build to finish a mission, that's not fun. I need an incredibly fun build to play that works well, and then i'm more than happy. That's why my main is a Meleemancer, i wanted to create a Necro able to use a sword, and succeded really well. Guild Wars allows it: it works, and it's a highly rewarding process. To create working builds is among the coolest thing this game offers, and i'll never understand people that skip this part altogether, simply asking for the cookie cutter build of the day and copypasting it on their toons. Often they even end using it uneffectively, simply because it doesn't fit their playstyle; Sometimes a mission fails just because they have a build they can't use.
- Third thing: Henchmen, and then Heroes. Many hate henchmen with all their strenght, but i trust them more than i trust some players. I can handle Alesia's fragility anytime. I could clear with them every area they were designed for before the introduction of heroes. They were the thing that allowed me to play alone and complete content with my pace. They were perfect to fill missing slots, or to be my full party when no friend was around. I still actively use them when i play alone (now with heroes too though), and i don't have problems completing what i'm doing using them.
- Fourth thing: instanced areas. You can say what you want, but being in a world that it's yours, where no one steals your boss, and you're not forced to wait for its respawn is one thing i adore of this game. The world "changes" by your actions. The bad thing is that gw1 has a lot of potential unused in this field. I could imagine cities rebuilt, and bridge destroyed in the maps instanced for you, but it happened in a small limited way overall...too bad. I still love it as it is anyway.
Give Alesia some Love[]
This poor girl is hated a lot, especially by the developers:
- She's the only healer for most of Prophecies, and her bar is terrible (a little bit better now that they improved it, but still terrible).
- She has only a wand until she's not level 20, leaving her with 30 mana until the end of the Crystal Desert (and the same could be said for other caster henchman of Prophecies).
- Her resurrection skill is a ticket for a free suicide, especially if a meleer dies.
- When they added dialogue for Prophecies henchmen, she started talking like she was a smiter...
- They kept her (or if you look story wise, they de-leveled her) at her krytan levels during the War in Kryta along with the other henchman, making her the favourite one hit kill target for the high level enemies of the mini-campaign. (I still think the same flag that raises her level when Hard Mode is enabled could be used for wik content too...)
Players, you can't blame her, she does her best, the problem is that she has a terrible equipment, a terrible build and until you can get Lina no support at all without heroes (she has also a terrible level gap, if you count wik too). You'd play as bad as her with that setup!
