Admin This user is an administrator.

  • Please note that even though I am an administrator, your opinion is worth as much as mine according to GW:YAV. Feel free to voice any concerns you may have with me whenever you want (except if it's spam).

I'm currently not as active as I'd like to be, so I may not be on a whole lot. If you want something deleted or a person banned, you should add the Delete template or the Ban template to the page, rather than contacting me directly. However, I am still new to being an admin, so if you have used the template with no response and you see me on, feel free to put a message on my talkpage to inform me.

Keep in mind though, that I am a regular user despite being an admin (and despite this admittedly bland box :P ) and joke around a good deal, so you can pretty much ignore my status as admin (except that committing a personal attack is rather suicidal :D ) in a conversation.

Where there's an edit conflict, your edit is shown in a box on the bottom. Also, you can see the stuff that you put in there in the History of the article. This is an open wiki, which anyone can edit, and like it says at the bottom: "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it." Anyway, the skills you put in there should just be added to the top of the page with the other suggested skills for pet leveling, because honestly there's nothing special about leveling that pet compared to any others except that it can't be death leveled --Gimmethegepgun 16:51, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, that video is on the site, I have watched it several times. I also have that site bookmarked and check it every day for updates when I check the webcomics also on the list. Also, from the game videos, it seems like the Vulture has been replaced by some other motorcycle that circles its targets and fires or something, maybe that's an activated ability (rather than being the standard attack), since I think that's how a Thor got owned --Gimmethegepgun 19:03, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
The unit that could attack while moving was removed from the game a long time ago. Have you seen the awsome new zerg queen? -Jeans 23:39, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
No, how would I have seen it? --Gimmethegepgun 03:07, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Its in the Zerg gameplay video that I linked you to. If you also go to the SC2 forum off of the SC2 site (go to the Community tab), there are alot of threads on the queen and info on it. The queen is NOT the same as it was from SC1, it is a COMPLETELY different unit now, and is totally kickass. -Jeans 19:27, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Its the unit from the video that popped out of the ground on its own and was 1 hitting marines. -Jeans 19:28, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Grand Mason Stonecleaver[]

One of his battlequotes: "By my uncle Stonecleaver's twiggy nose hairs!", is suggesting he is Ogden's Nephew, not the other way around. If he was Ogden's uncle, it would read "By my nephew Stonecleaver's twiggy nose hairs!". Unless my English is failing me, which it probably isn't. Hug Wub Banana 21:19, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

It is failing you, how can he be both Ogden's uncle AND nephew? Ogden's quote says that he is Stonecleaver's nephew, not Stonecleaver is Ogden's nephew --Gimmethegepgun 21:21, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Stonehealer != Stonecleaver. Therefore Mason is Ogden's uncle, and Mason also has an uncle with twiggy nose hairs. Felix Omni Signature.png 21:28, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
So what if Stonehealer isn't the same as Stonecleaver? Marriage changes last names in our society, probably does in THEIRS too. And because of generic, low-rez models used on dwarves, we can't tell if Stonecleaver has twiggy nose hairs or not --Gimmethegepgun 21:30, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Marriage to what? Felix Omni Signature.png 21:34, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
A female dwarf hopefully. I don't know how he rolls. Rsz PLSig.jpg 21:36, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Let's put it this way: Stonecleaver is Stonehealer's mom's brother. Stonehealer's mom marries some guy named Stonehealer, and so her name is changed to Stonehealer, and Ogden's last name is then Stonehealer. Or, also very likely, the dwarves don't use rigid family/clan names, and basically use a naming convention where your specialty is thrown into your name somewhere :P --Gimmethegepgun 21:39, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

It isn't improper to use a comma before "and" in an enumeration, and the only reason to remove it would be for consistency with the rest of the Wiki. It isn't a big deal, but I found it funny. XD ــѕт.мıкε 15:52, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Isn't that a serial comma? Cause we refrain from using those. I'm no grammar miracle when it comes to naming shiz, so I might be wrong :d --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 16:17, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Bah, I'm not even sure what serial means in grammar. XD No one's really wrong when it comes to commas in that context. =P ــѕт.мıкε 16:37, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
In that case there were only two items in the list, and no comma should ever be used with only two items. If you have three or more items, then you have a serial comma case and the usage is optional. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 17:12, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
It's optional but I hate reading a listing without it. It confuses me. Strangely, when I meet/read people from other places, they usually don't use serial comma - but that's how I was taught in school. Time to call the Grammar Police? Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 02:10, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Heh, I'm Canadian and I've been in a French school so far and will probably continue my education in that language (along with English, of course, which is still my first language). In English, I've been taught that the only thing to look out for is consistency when writing with "serial commas". In French, however, you never use a comma before a conjunction. ــѕт.мıкε 02:34, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
I (used to) speak French, but I never learned that rule. Strange. Maybe it's the Quebec way? Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 02:54, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
I haven't the slightest idea, tbh. I live in Ontario, though, but I'm not sure what that changes. It's kind of funny that only about 30% of the students at my high school speak French regularly during school (they even speak English in class and to the teachers). I also seem to be a minority in my city. French has always seemed like a more complicated language than English, because they've got so many more rules (the different "the"s and "a"s for both feminine and masculine nouns) and so many exceptions to those rules. I wouldn't write in French without a dictionary or spell check, and I've been at the top of my French class for a while now. XD ــѕт.мıкε 03:17, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

you're supposed to use subst: on that[]

re: Nick traveler's DP talk I gather you are reminding me that I'm supposed to do something other than use the unsigned template (when someone forgets to sign). Can you clarify?

  • I don't know what "subst:" means. What was I meant to do instead?
  • when should I use {{unsigned|someone}} to repair someone's unsigned post? (or should it be removed b/c its use is deprecated?)

Thanks!   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 10:00, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

You do need to use the unsigned template, but a little different than simply typing {{unsigned|someone}}.
Template:Unsigned has an example, in which {{subst:unsigned|someone}} is used. It replaces {{unsigned| etc. by the actual code. If the unsigned template is then changed, only unsigned templates used after the change will be altered.
By the way, it was this edit. That immediatly shows what subst does :) --- Ohaider! -- (contribs) (talk) 11:31, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

sin skills redirection deletion[]

You deleted the redirect on sin skills that pointed to Assassin skills quick reference, on the grounds that if they can't spell assassin they don't deserve to see the skills. The redirect wasn't about people who can't spell, it's about being a shorter, more efficient abbreviation. If you're looking up skills it is much faster to type sin skills (9 characters) compared to "assassin quick skills reference" (30 characters). Anways, it's not like the redirect was sin skeelz. 17:04, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Assassin skills redirects, and all professions have the "<Name> skills" redirect as well. I'm somewhat of a typist, so I rather hate shorthand when not necessary (necessary would refer to when someone is doing a live communication and needs to get it down NOW, not take the time to spell things right) --Gimmethegepgun 17:47, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Please stop changing text that has someone else's signature[]

Gimme: please stop changing talk-page text that has my signature. If you think my information is factually incorrect, faulty in its analysis, or perish-the-thought, even a personal attack, please tell me. I will choose whether to fix it or to explain why it might not be appropriate to do so.

In the first situation, you and I were not using the same base against which to measure "shorter," so the change to my written text changed my meaning and intent. In the second, I made a mistake in attribution. In both cases, it's up to me as the responsible party to see that the text is adjusted as appropriate.

On an article page, the text belongs to the wiki; it doesn't include an attribution, so mistakes are owned by all and should be corrected by any. On a talk page, each item is attributed to an author (hence the signature requirement); when someone else changes it, they also change the original poster's intent. In some cases, the originator might have made a mistake while in others the rest of us might have misunderstood. In any case, it remains up to the poster to correct any misapprehensions or errors, not up to the rest of us. In the case of a sincere error, a correction by someone else leaves the person without a natural opportunity to apologize or save face. In the case of a misunderstanding, a change by someone else can exacerbate the misunderstanding rather than help clarify things.

I am very sorry I attributed the wrong name (for the string-size idea) on the experience talk page. I should have triple-checked before saving.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:26, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

Ass XP[]

Donkey isn't always synonymous. Ass usually refers to the subgenus Asinus (so perhaps "Asinus" would be better, although most wouldn't understand it without looking it up), which includes donkeys, among other "asses" (e.g. wild asses). Plus, ass as a derogatory term or as colloquialism for buttocks or "stupid person" derived from the animal's name. ــѕт.мıкε 16:59, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Huh, didn't know that. Also, I wouldn't say "ass" describing someone would be used to call them stupid, I'd say it's more like calling them a jerk. Took me a few seconds to think of the word to use there rather than using "asshole" :P --Gimmethegepgun 18:28, March 19, 2010 (UTC)
Well, the disambig page for "ass" said that it was used for a stupid person, although the closest thing to that I've come across was Nick Bottom the weaver, from A Midsummer Night's Dream. That use might be archaic. =/ ــѕт.мıкε 17:47, March 20, 2010 (UTC)
