"Imo its usefulness already pretty much got killed when the builds wipe occurred" Then dont look at it and leave the red links be, whatever... --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 18:25, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Basically, I'm trying to make it useful again. —HelloWarw/Wick 18:26, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to make a bot to take care of this by rewriting the links to point to PvXwiki. The exact article may not exist over there either, but at least it will clean up Special:wantedpages without the need for a bunch of redirect articles. (Why must you archive so much? >.>) —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 19:13, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Alright. I suppose thats a pretty good system really. It could just point (eg say somthing like "For builds see here. The GuildWiki:Builds wipe cleared all builds, and moved them from GuildWiki to Pvx". Seem good enough? And Giga, You only just noticed? :P —HelloWarw/Wick 19:14, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
What I was thinking was to take a wiki link like UW Solo and just change it to W/Rt UW Solo so that I'm not actually changing anything except where the link points. There's no need to add a link to the buildswipe page. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 19:29, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm not totally sure if we can do that, since a) Pvx: links, afaik, dont work- pvx:Main Page. Apart from that, it'd probably be quite a lot more practical to do that, though yeah, if you can get a bot to do that, it works well- Though it'll probably take longer, and more RC spam. —HelloWarw/Wick 19:31, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
That PvX Main link worked just fine for me. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 19:34, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Wow, I had no idea. Perhaps we should just link to the Main Page of PvX? Because most of those articles don't actually exist on PvX. —HelloWarw/Wick 19:36, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Just an fyi, im offline now. :p. —HelloWarw/Wick 20:14, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
It would need to be UW Solo. Linking to the build namespace is important ;) Also, just adding one pipe at the end of an interwiki link makes the pvx: part not show. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 20:18, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Hm, I thought I'd tried that pipe trick a while back with Wikipedia links, but it didn't work. Either I didn't do it right or maybe that's one more little thing that got changed by Wikia. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 20:41, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

wiki drama[]

In the interests of avoiding wiki drama (which you are so concerned about that you feel it nessecary to hide discussions) I am hereby requesting that you do nothing to deal with the builds and stuff in the wanted pages at this time. If you have an idea, you can post it in the GuildWiki:Community Portal for discussion. —JediRogue 19:37, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Truthfully, what does that have to do with the builds section? That was just a spring point for the drama- It'll always get there. —HelloWarw/Wick 19:39, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I was under the impression that we'd agreed to post a direction to PvXwiki for builds? Isnt that what you were making your bot for? —HelloWarw/Wick 15:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Are you alright with me carrying on with it? If not, I'll stop. —HelloWarw/Wick 15:38, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
No, the bot is going to edit the links themselves instead of re-creating the articles. And now I'm going to have to re-re-delete all those articles you just made in order for the bot to work. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 15:40, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

kids these days...[]

"If no-one opposes this in the next 30 minutes", what the?? Back when I was responsible for proposing some massive changes on the wiki, I used tostirring up trouble for GuildWiki in terms of massive changes, I used to wait for 7~14 days, and was still considered a troublemaker by some.

If you want to blank your own user page, yeah 30 minutes of "if nobody opposes" is fine. A major action on the wiki that is a pain to undo deserves more than one day of notice, and a final 24 hour warning. The ability to learn from experience is part of the factors of "Would May Make A Good Admin?", and I hope you prove to be so, since you are an admin even if not on this wiki. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 19:48, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Felix, "Potentially Disruptive Action" my foot. What I did didn't do squat (btw, wheres loats edit?), and +1 its not my fault you didn't read the community portal- You were there when I put it up. —HelloWarw/Wick 20:02, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
You've been warned, regardless of whether you remove it again or not. Felix Omni Signature.png 20:03, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I added the comment made by felix that was removed in a previous edit by you may. Lord of all tyria 20:04, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
The key word is "potentially" - undertaking a task that will edit 100s of articles without first receiving community approval is a "potentially" disruptive action, because if the community decides it doesn't approve of the action, then 100s of articles have to be reverted. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 20:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
No-one opposed it though :(. And Felix, this is going to turn out like the Builds bull, isnt it? You're going to warn me about somthing, then give no reasoning for the warning, repeat you've given your reasoning then leave. what am I being warned about? The community DIDNT OPPOSE IT.HelloWarw/Wick 20:08, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
You can interpret it however you like; I won't insult your intelligence by repeating myself again. Felix Omni Signature.png 20:11, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
(EC)And no one agreed with it either. You're just inciting drama every time you or felix go on the same talkpage, I don't care who's fault it is; so why don't you both stfu if the other is already involved? Its getting ridiculous. Lord of all tyria 20:12, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Agree with loat. And here it is again, Felix warning me about somthing yet refusing to give squat in way of proof, support or anything.. —HelloWarw/Wick 20:13, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I wish I had the luxury of stfuing, but it's my job to prevent people from harming the wiki. Felix Omni Signature.png 20:14, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
And here he goes again, totally ignoring what I've said, and going on about some duty crap. And fyi, Felix, in no way did it harm the wiki. It just wasn't useful. —HelloWarw/Wick 20:15, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Rt warned you; you ignored it, so felix reiterated said warning. Both of you drop it, or go back to the original topic. Lord of all tyria 20:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) (edit conflict) LoaT is right, no one agreed with your proposal. Poki and PanSola even proposed a different way to do the same thing, and also do add a lot more useful stuff to all the monster pages at the same time. LoaT is also right in saying that both you and Felix need to let this conversation drop - every comment either of you make here seems to simply be inciting the other, and it'll probably end up with both of you getting banned. (I just got ec'ed 4 times trying to post this... seriously, shut up about this. >.>)—Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 20:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Felix and I have a long standing hatred. :D —HelloWarw/Wick 20:19, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Then you should have learned by now how to ignore him. And he's not the only one warning you - while I may not have used the word "warn" explicitly, I thought I was getting the same point across with my comments. Since that didn't work: I am also warning you to refrain from undertaking any potentially disruptive activities (as I defined them above) without getting community consensus first. And that doesn't mean "wait exactly 24/48 hours, then if no one has disagreed, go do it." It means waiting for everyone who has something to say about your idea has had a chance to say it, and yes, sometimes this will take longer than a couple days. You have shown yourself to be a very impatient person, but either you learn to be patient or you risk bringing up issues like this again and again until you are finally perma-banned for it.
Geez, I've tried to stay out of this issue since being made an admin, not wanting to be accused of "flaunting my new-found power around," but I guess I'm finally caught up in it. >_< —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 20:28, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm not going to play games with you. I've said what I have to say, so I'm leaving this discussion for now and going back to deleting unused images. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 20:37, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

General rule of thumb: If nobody disagreed with you, but the number of ppl agreeing with you is barely a handful (ie, significant number of people have not expressed an opinion), and you feel it's about time, add another note explicit warning people that lack of opposition would be seen as endorsement of whatever the relative majority opinion is, THEN wait for 24 more hours.

The way I usually do it is to put up the explicit warning on the 6th day so I get to act after 7 days has passed (on an issue that ppl aren't commenting on and not opposing). -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 20:40, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Yay, Pan gives useful [advice]. —HelloWarw/Wick 20:41, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Note: don't take the above and interpret it as you can explicitly warn ppl about abstension=endorece majority on day 1, so that you get to act after 24 hours of no opposition. In terms of TOTAL time, that is still not enough for the community to react and respond. The explicit warning is given AFTER sufficient time have passed such that most ppl interested in the issue should have read about it already but didn't make a comment. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 20:44, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
3 days, warn on the second? —HelloWarw/Wick 20:45, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I believe my rational for 7 total days was because there might be ppl who only drop by on the weekends, or on certain days of a week (assume at least twice a week), so a 7-day total period gives those people a chance to notice the issue too. Thus, I highly recommend 7, or however many days there is in a week (could change, you never know). -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 20:49, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Aha. Another troublemaker, eh? —HelloWarw/Wick 20:52, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

because Viper says it and tbh he knows when something is mentally unstable (no offense intented if u intentd to be offended :P) --Fighterbitsjsig.jpg Wammo--talkpage Fighterbitsj 20:00, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, yeah, it is mentally unstable cause I say so. And cause it's hard to pronounce. --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 20:05, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
What is hard to pronounce? :P (I spy with my little eye someone who needs to work on his pronounciation?) --Fighterbitsjsig.jpg Wammo--talkpage Fighterbitsj 20:11, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
"But that's cause when you said you'd never say you'd say you liked RT was a lie" And yes, I need to work on my pronouncation ,and articulation. But, cba. Also: DwG + AR * 6 = 1020 Lightning Dmg. EPIC WIN SPIKE ZOMG! Icy Shackles for snare. --- Ohaider!-- (s)talkpage 20:28, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Moot point Viper, it's already been established that we need a legit signpic before we consider believing her. D: Maui sig.png 20:52, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
She said that I would find it out soon, which I don't get because I only know her from wiki and Guild Wars and not like msn so she can't send me pics or stuff xD --Fighterbitsjsig.jpg Wammo--talkpage Fighterbitsj 21:09, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

This is the internet. Any personal info, such as age, sex, religion, looks, favorite sports team, and what you had for breakfast by definition CANNOT BE REAL! -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 21:58, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I couldn't believe how much negative commentary is posted on May's talk page. Looks to me as if lessons in people skills and general good manners need to be added to the requirements for being an admin. I'm a new user and know almost nothing about doing things in GWW, but May clearly has the kind of helpful attitude that I'd think the admins would want in an admin. From reading above, appears that she misunderstood something, caused an unfortunate incident, apologized for it, and yet is still getting grief for it. Some of you really need to do a self-check, and cut her some slack.

That said, May (or anyone who can answer), since you suggested that I contact you here rather than by email, is it OK to resubmit the same pictures of my characters but bigger? Also, my pics were from the login page, and were full sized when I submitted them (or at least I think they were), but when they showed up on the page, they were quite small. Any suggestions? Brankoz 17:46, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

To answer your second point first, yeah, you can upload as many images as you want, as long as they arn't profane. I'd suggest retaking the images, and putting them in as bigger images.
To be honest, their opionion is pretty truthful. I make a lot of those sorts of mistakes, and its sort of stupid. I should have learnt it by now, but not. I'm of the same opinion about the admin idea (:P), but when the community says no, you put up with it. I already know the community opinion, and the chance that it will change. And yeah, I misunderstood, and there was a profound lack of communication, and lack of time given. Tbh, I can be a pretty bad troll when provoked. I've been given about as much slack as I'm gonna get :p. —HelloWarw/Wick 17:51, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
It looks like you're not cropping the images correctly, and I've actually seen this a lot. I'm not sure what the problem might be, whether it's the editing program you're using or what. Double-check to make sure that there isn't any extra white space around the image after you crop it. I'm no image editing expert, though, so maybe someone else can help more. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 19:24, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Looks like paint and not resizing the total image. Lord of all tyria 19:30, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

In case you didn't notice, Category:drops mesmer unique item isn't real. --Macros 18:36, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I know, but the category is breaking GW:ULC.. —HelloWarw/Wick 18:38, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
and more than one person has argued that Mesmer is an ingame term to be caitalized according to GW:ULC. I don't quite remember how the discussion ended though... -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 18:40, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Categories are chaotic and inaccurate enough, why mess with something that's already done? --Macros 18:41, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Because the category is breaking GW:ULC? And Pan, regardless of that, it should be Unique item or unique item. —HelloWarw/Wick 18:42, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
If you want to go on a crusade, why don't you add categories to pages that need them? Category:Incubus is empty for example. --Macros 18:45, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Very well, but I dont agree with us breaking GW:ULC. Since you think thats more important, I'll go cat it. —HelloWarw/Wick 18:46, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Firstly, the D in drops is supposed to be capitalized. The mesmer thing is debatable. There's already a bot for doing this (in fact, it's on the bot tasks page right now). This is the type of thing people get irritated with you about. --Shadowcrest 18:52, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Just to be clear, I agree that if a category is breaking ULC, it should be fixed. And if it is obviously clear what the correct name of the category should be renamed to, then Warwick changing it would be fine. Problem arises when it is debatable as to WHAT is the category name that conforms to ULC. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 18:59, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
