The War In Kryta is an over-hyped in-game content add-ons that ultimately is viewed as a huge disappointment. With Anet unwilling to assign what seems like more than 2 people to the project, it has suffered a great deal of set backs and delays do to an employee being sick or so they say. What should have been the epic war that set the stage of Kryta fate from Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2 has turned into just a few dull boring fights that is anything close to what a war should fill like. With the first part of "The War" just a bunch of text updates with no player interaction at all. It's leading many players to think all the "new" features of Guild Wars 2 to to the game itself could be just another very over-hyped disappointment.

The War In Kryta is an ongoing in-game war between the White Mantle and The Shining Blade. The event is purportedly designed to help bridge the gap between Guild Wars 1 and the sequel, Guild Wars 2, and involves the Blade's attempts to wrest control of the kingdom of Kryta from the hands of the White Mantle.

Requirements

The War in Kryta dialogues, quests, and spawns require mainly that a character has previously beaten either the Prophecies campaign, or Eye of the North, or both.

Lion's Arch Keep

To access Lion's Arch Keep and the Wanted Quests (see below), a character must first complete the following series of steps:

  • View the Trial of Zinn. Note that this trial doesn't exactly end per se; check that page for information on when it's safe to leave
  • View the first four dialogues in the Shining Blade Camp in Talmark Wilderness. The last one of these includes a discussion with two Asura. See the Dakutu Village article for more information.

Peacekeepers and White Mantle

Peacekeeper Goon

The Peacekeepers are the White Mantle's "bodyguards"

Helping the White Mantle out in their war against the Shining Blade are new White Mantle units (including updated dual-profession builds) and the newly-introduced Peacekeeper bodyguards.

Wanted Bounties

The event includes special Wanted quests (similar to the Zaishen Bounties), which reward War Supplies. These can be used as consumables, traded for Royal Gifts, which may contain anything from common experience scrolls to rare miniatures, or for a Medal of Honor, the purpose of which is yet unknown. For the current quest, please check the Wanted by the Shining Blade article.

Salma Quests

Princess Salma in Lion's Arch Keep offers quests that have some Wanted Bounties as requirements, and help further the storyline of the War in Kryta.
