Concise: Fast projectile: deals 10...74...90 cold damage and knocks down moving foes. Shoots 2 additional projectiles at adjacent foes.
This is a projectile spell and thus can be obstructed by terrain and dodged.
Along with Shock Arrow, this is the only projectile spell in the game that has an intrinsic 25% boost in flight speed.
This skill, combined with any speed reducing skill can be very frustrating for melee characters, as well as deadly for anyone retreating from battle.
If you intend to use Water Trident primarily for its damage, you should also consider Ice Spear, which has the same energy cost and cast time with no recharge, although it has a half-range restriction.
