Winds of Change continues the story of Cantha and the Dragon Empire. The storyline follows the newly formed Ministry of Purity's attempts to eradicate the Afflicted. This is the second major installment in Guild Wars Beyond, which serves to bridge the storyline between Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.

Requirements

For a character to access the Winds of Change content (including dialogues, quests, and spawns), the player's account must include the Factions campaign, and the character must have finished the Factions storyline by completing the Imperial Sanctum mission, either NM or HM.

New allies

The Ministry of Purity

The Ministry was formed to protect the people of Kaineng City and finally destroy Shiro's Afflicted creations shortly after the end of the Factions campaign.

Quests

The "(HM)" after each quest links to that quest's hard mode version, which becomes available after completing both the normal mode version of the quest and the hard mode version of the quest's prerequisite.

Ministry of Purity

The Ministry of Purity is attempting to clean up all the leftover Afflicted from Shiro Tagachi's brief return to power.

Imperial Guard

The Imperial Dragon Guard is also doing some cleanup, but of a more beastly nature. At the same time, Courier Falken has arrived with a message from Queen Salma.

Notes

  • The progression through time means the Canthan areas and its mobs affected will change irreversably:
    • This affects bosses and possible elite capture locations as well. So far, it seems bosses will be replaced with a new boss that has the same elite, at least somewhere in the area near the old boss location.
    • This consequently also changes unique (green) item drops. Make sure you have a character that hasn't started the Winds of Change storyline yet, to be able to obtain a coveted unique item.
  • Vanquisher take heed! The new mobs are significantly tougher, especially in Hard Mode, so consider vanquishing areas before starting the Winds of Change storyline, or bring along another character who has not started Winds of Change.
